Not all fur farms are like this. You forgot to add that becuase of fur farms foxes are domesticated and over 20 new coat colors have been found. Also mink are most commonly gassed which is an almost painless death. Foxes are often knocked unconsious before electrocution therefore they don't feel any pain. Breaking a chinchillas neck is nearly painless to the animal. Faux fur is actually really bad for the enviornment. I ain't pro fur farm, just pointing out the other side.

not every fur farm out there is some evil, torturous thing. It's just like any other place that works with animals. Some will be terrible, yes, and I believe those should be shut down. The people who support fur farming are sick. It is disgusting that people would subject animals to such cruelty just to have a "unique" coat. What really makes me sick is the fact that faux fur looks just like real fur, but some people choose to have "the real deal". I, myself, own faux fur and faux leather. I don't see why people won't just open their eyes and stop buying real fur & leather. Faux fur & leather look just as good & no animals are killed to produce them.

Another thing about fur farms that people don't know - meat is used too in some cases, and even bones. Meat bi-products in dog/cat food brands don't just come from industrial farms (which have even worse conditions). i work with the humane society and we had a chinchila that was rescued from a fur farm; he suffered severe psychological and physical damage. As we began rehabiltation he started scraching his eyes to the point of bleeding. When we tired to find a cure for the problem it was to late we walked in one day and he had scatched his face to the point of bleeding out and he died september 17th 2009 from severe blood loss.
My dogs collars are made of human skin. Thats what I think about fur farming. The people are trapped in my basement unable to move because of the pain. I go down there daily to say "ha. Revenge sucks doesnt it." Most of the skin goes in my trash can.

Not all fur farms are like this, you know. Some have nice-sized enclosures outside for the animals to roam, and they only use injections to put their animals to sleep. Even if there are few out there like that, they do exist. The fur trade as a whole - trapping, taxidermy, hunting, etc. - isn't so horrible. Fur farms with idiots who electrocute or break animals' necks to kill them are the ones who make the fur trade look bad.

I know for a fact that hardly any animals are "skinned alive". I have been defending the fur trade for over three years now, I have researched and educated mself about this type of thing. I am a designer and I don't see anything wrong about wearing fur. However, what I dislike about it is the fact which the animals spend their whole life in this cages...the should at least have a better life with more space

Personally, I believe each soul/life is of equal value, so yes, the way I see it, a human has the same value as a pig or mink. And yes, I feel that across the board, they have the same value. Many won't agree, but many will. We live in a time where we are taught to value our lives over others. I refuse to see it this way. I do not believe it is extreme at all. Humans are animals as well. By "cruel" I was referring to the people who are killing the animals, I agree that many people are ignorant who wear fur. It's sad because I think that if some "fur wearers" realized the truth, they wouldn't be so willing to wear fur. That's why I believe education is key in fighting this! :)

not every fur farm out there is some evil, torturous thing. It's just like any other place that works with animals. Some will be terrible, yes, and I believe those should be shut down. Fur farms need good and firm regulation, just like our meat does and our animal shelters and our breeders and all of that.

The people who support fur farming are sick. It is disgusting that people would subject animals to such cruelty just to have a "unique" coat. What really makes me sick is the fact that faux fur looks just like real fur, but some people choose to have "the real deal". I, myself, own faux fur and faux leather. I don't see why people won't just open their eyes and stop buying real fur & leather. Faux fur & leather look just as good & no animals are killed to produce them.

Another thing about fur farms that people don't know - meat is used too in some cases, and even bones. Meat bi-products in dog/cat food brands don't just come from industrial farms (which have even worse conditions). Some fur farms out there make me cringe, I'll be honest, but people shouldn't hate every one just because of a few run by sick bastards.

i work with the humane society and we had a chinchila that was rescued from a fur farm; he suffered severe psychological and physical damage. As we began rehabiltation he started scraching his eyes to the point of bleeding. When we tired to find a cure for the problem it was to late we walked in one day and he had scatched his face to the point of bleeding out and he died september 17th 2009 from severe blood loss.

Not all fur farms are like this, you know. Some have nice-sized enclosures outside for the animals to roam, and they only use injections to put their animals to sleep. Even if there are few out there like that, they do exist. The fur trade as a whole - trapping, taxidermy, hunting, etc. - isn't so horrible. Fur farms with idiots who electrocute or break animals' necks to kill them are the ones who make the fur trade look bad.

I know for a fact that hardly any animals are "skinned alive". I have been defending the fur trade for over three years now, I have researched and educated mself about this type of thing. The only places it is "tolerated" is places like China, for example, where they also eat dogs and cats and crush little kittens heads under their high heels.

Most people who raise animal for fur sell the meat too or eat it themselves. It is the nature of farming. This is a case where you have an organization with a film crew that has to get sympathy to get more money for more film. 99% of suede is from pigs. Again, the animal is used up from pig feet in jars to the ears for dogs to chew on.

When someone buys fur it's usually the only piece they buy, only the very few old fashioned wealthy types buy multiple pieces. Chinese markets are up though, they don't buy their own fur tho, cuz their farms are terrible, those are the ones that really commit cruelty cuz they're cheap.....usually.

The chemical cocktail they claim is what we use is unheard of to me...maybe in China or something. We use Carbon monoxide, they go to sleep then die within a minute in most cases. Every farm I know of does the same. Neck breakers and nicotine shots are illegal where I worked and are also impractical. If people get arrested for wearing fur they won't be wearing it .So it is time to go to your member of parliament and demand for a change in the legislation in your country. Get the media involved.

Personally, I believe each soul/life is of equal value, so yes, the way I see it, a human has the same value as a pig or mink. And yes, I feel that across the board, they have the same value. Many won't agree, but many will. We live in a time where we are taught to value our lives over others. I refuse to see it this way. I do not believe it is extreme at all. Humans are animals as well. Animals feel pain and emotions just as humans do. If we believe human souls are equal, why does this not apply towards all souls? Why can we exploit and abuse animals and not people? A lot of people in my school love getting fur items. Purses, hats, backpacks, shoes, and coats. Me and a couple others pretty much stand out because I HATE werong fur with a passion.

It's true, and many "fake" furs are real furs. Some companies will say it is fake so people will buy it. It's not all that common but it happens a lot more than you would think. I don't get they hype of wearing the fur of another creature :(

Fur coats aren't beautiful. They are a sad reminder of the poor helpless animals that lost their life!!!! Artificial fur can be made which makes it totally senseless and barbaric to kill animals for fur!!!!!!!

oh god, when i saw those chinchillas, and that fox, and the ferret i wanted to murder someone, because i am very close to one animal in that species in real life. :'(

I understand what you mean, it's heartbreaking to know things like this, especially if you know an animal of one of the species used. It is uncommon in America, but in some cases, dog and cat fur is used as well. It is a horrible industry. Thank you for commenting!

I just hope your words are enough to make people stop and realize the truth behind a furcoat. Sadly,some people are unable to react unless they see graphic explicit images :(
But all you're saying here is true. And it's not only animals dying in farms,but also wild animals being hunted with bear traps. (they can stay trapped for days or weeks).
And honestly, we already have our skin,who needs to kill for another one??

You're right, it's not like they're killing for food, but just to make an unnecesary furcoat so someone can flash it around :(
But I don't think people are really 'cruel'. I prefer to think they're just ignorants, but may I'm being too innocent...

By "cruel" I was referring to the people who are killing the animals, I agree that many people are ignorant who wear fur. It's sad because I think that if some "fur wearers" realized the truth, they wouldn't be so willing to wear fur. That's why I believe education is key in fighting this! :)

PETA certainly does have some questionable methods of spreading their beliefs, so I don't blame you. Personally, I think it's best to do it in less of a "shock factor" type of way. That is why no graphic images were used. And you're welcome :) Thanks for commenting!

And I"m not sure why Peta, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, would scare you. They only want the world to know about all the horrible ways humans abuse and exploit the many other species of animals on the planet. What's wrong with that?

someone once said they were protesting Canadian maple syurup because apparently they killed seals and they had this giant bottle with red dye like blood. (sounds like a mixture of terrifying, traumatizing, and hilarious)
despite my love for animals, i will NOT allow organizations such as PETA to brainwash meh this young. D:>

P.S. By the way, I am not a member of Peta (I prefer IDA and HSUS), but I support ANY organization that fights for animals. We all need to work together for change.
