  • OH!!! I loved this. I especially loved the layered drink, and wanted Mum to make me one! 0:46

  • I remember this in 1972...holy shit what a trip

  • I am forever indebted to you for posting this! This is right at the top of the best memories I have of childhood and watching Sesame Street. I was amazed that hearing the music on this, I remembered it pretty much note-for-note. Thank you again!

  • The Spanish version was yet another clip that I saw only once back in the very early '80s.

  • Anyone have the spanish version of this?

  • Why didn't they say water can fall from the sky?

  • Why didn't they say water can fall from the sky.

  • Hmmm... interesting. What was this strange liquid called again? Wa...dder?

  • WATER MAKES KOOL AID OMFG KOOL AID!

  • i remeber this in 1970 when i was in head start love the memorys.

  • omg, thank you so so much for these. not sure which is my favourite, but i am having fun remembering! THANK YOU

  • Is this the Kool Aid guy before the Kool Aid?

  • From a bumper sticker I saw in a catalogue (and I should buy one, really) --

"If there is magic on this Earth, it exists in water."

I get a special feeling from these memories too. :D

  • Very clever elephant lol.

  • maybe a spanish version of the same sesame street skit could be added here soon.

  • Thanks one of my best memories, happy little song.

  • Oh man, I remember seeing this when I was like 6. That song has stuck with me ever since.

  • This was such a cute skit, I remember it well, the pitcher for some reason always reminded me of the kool-aid pitcher as a kid..still a true gem!! Thanx!

  • @ClarkieandStephen

This is the third post that I have read about the Kool-Air pitcher! Amazing!

  • 1 of my favourite parts is when the grass sprouts up! 1 more virtue of water not mentioned here: it has been found that regular drinking of plain water helps fight obesity. You don't want to be obese, do you?

  • Good point about obesity! As for me, I think I remember this. The part where the 'pitcher' turns into a 'bowl' with vegetables and says 'Soup!' sounds somewhat familiar.

  • I think I've seen this in Arabic.

  • Wasn't there a Spanish version of this? I vaguely remember there was.

  • Yes, I remember it too. Unfortunately, I don't have it.

  • I loved this one when I was a kid in the 70's. I always loved the part where the fish is tickling his tummy!

  • This is a claaaaaaaaaaassic! I remember this one

  • I remember this from way back! I've always been a water boy, I've never understood people who don't like to drink it, or go swimming!

  • These videos are fantastic, thanks for posting them.

  • puts me in mind of the kool aid dude.... i loved this one as a kid....the ending makes me happy and feel at peace...

  • Soooooo sweet.

  • I remember this when I was a little tot!!

  • I like that cute bathing elephant at 0:52. Overall, a fine video. How come nothing like this is on Sesame Street now?

  • cute and funny

  • Something about the narration to this really mellows me out...

when he says "water can be turned into ice, and make things taste good:, it's phenomenally reassuring.

  • @zaxxoid I know EXACTLY how you feel, only I couldn't phrase it as well as you just did. This is such a simple cartoon and yet it really does seem to reassure you that it's those simple little things that can make you happy.

  • why didnt the water guy drink the chocolate thru his mouth?! he HAD to pour it in his head!!

  • Suddenly I am soooo thirsty!

  • anyone remember this in Spanish? I remember it from pre 1973, not sure the year, will guess 71 or 72--I was very young. Awesome, thanks for posting!

  • Yes I remember the Spanish version of this sequence. I remember Spanish versions of several sequences, such as the Jazzy Spies sequences, that don't seem to be on youtube.

  • Does anyone else think the narrator in this video sounds just like Mister Rogers?

Also, I think the music was also used for another skit on 'Sesame Street'. It was a live-action film about rain.

  • Ilove the music

  • lol. I'm using this for a class. Thanks so much for putting it up.

  • This looks like it was animated by the same person who did the "sip" cartoon for the electric company.

  • Holy Crap i remember this clip from 1983 i was in kindergarten.. i reconized the music.. at first..great water education..

  • I remember it from 1973, when I was in Kindergarten!

  • Oh cool. i did not realize it was that old.. still good though!

  • @mstatz i remeber it from 1969 when my mom bought a zenith color scan tv.

  • i love how the colours of the drink don't blend..

  • thanks for making me thirsty

  • Thank you, mstatz! I was looking for this one, an old fave of mine. The Spanish version had different music.

  • I always got hungry when they showed the soup bowl

  • Glad to see that there are others who recall this one as fondly as I do! :-)

  • Can anyone tell me what this music is please?

  • I don't know the title, but it's a piece of "production music"---pre-recorded music available for a low fee, for use in movies, TV shows, etc. In fact, it was used in a Public Service Announcement about pesticides---very disturbing, considering this "Water" clip! The PSA is on YouTube, as "1960's USDA Use Pesticides Safely PSA".

  • This music was also used on "Sesame Street" in a film sequence about a boy talking about how much he liked rain, and convincing his dad to go walking in the rain with him. The sequence opened with an arrangement of Bach's Sinfonia from Cantata No. 156 — the first time I heard that lovely piece. The Sesame gang really knew their music!

  • AHHH I can't believe these are all coming back to me! THANKS love them!

  • Never saw this one (at least I don't remember it), but it's cool to see.

  • Watching this makes me thirsty!

  • HELL yeah.

  • ...and I wanna take a bath.:-)

  • Fish do something else in water, too, according to W.C. Fields. He said that was why he never drank it.

  • Some things just plain aren't the same sans the color !

  • Agreed--especially kids' TV shows. Every child-psychology book will tell you that preschoolers like bright colors; that's why Sesame Street characters look the way they do, and why our favorite childhood cartoons feel "wrong" in black and white.

  • Thanks for posting this in color!
