  • The smartest thing I ever did in my life was keep quiet about my troubles when they started many years ago...

Truth is there is no help

If I had let Psychology, psychiatry & scientology get hold of me they would have completely destroyed me by now.

The same can be said for the general population & all your idiotic opinions & comments

Thanks for nothing everyone, I hope you all rot in hell

  • John Breeding is on CCHR's board of advisors.

CCHR was co-founded by the church of scientology.

    Guilty by association? Absolutely!

Shame on freedomain radio and stefbot for giving voice to such superstitions. It is irresponsible and dangerous.

  • One of The Church of Scientology's mantras is "mental illness is not caused by a chemical imbalance", and I'm not qualified to dispute this. However, the very same organisation is responsible for countless cases of criminal, and psychological, abuse, and The Citizen's Commission On Human Rights - founded by Scientology - is the organisation that John Breeding chooses to be on the board of advisors for. I'm not disputing his knowledge, but this affiliation has always bothered me.

  • When the human race wakes up to reality and quits eating meat. Getting back on the way the planet was supposed to be like with just a plant eating human race instead of the meat eating one. The meat eating race has caused all the problems and troubles that both living creatures and the planet has had to endure. It causes all the deep seated problems both mentally and physically and environmentally. The humans are far removed from the reason we inhabit a planet. Quit following.

  • Great interview!*****

  • Awesome stuff. You got posted on the front page of infowars. Maybe some of those in the "patriot," movement will checkout some of your videos a on statism and the voluntary society.

  • Big Pharma Profits

    too

  • GOOD STUFF

    only hippies pop pills

  • grrrr unbalanced audio again, he was quiet and you were blaring.

  • I'm glad my parents weren't idiots unqualified babysitters at my kindergarten thought I was autistic because I didn't recognize their authority, and often just disobeyed the rules. Luckily I wasn't put on any drugs because my parents knew better.

  • They'd want to know better, because that doesn't sound like autistic behaviour at all.

  • There is actually quite a lot of evidence from twin studies that ADHD has a heritable component eg.

Biederman J, Faraone SV. Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Lancet. 2005 Jul 16-22;366(9481):237-48.

At the end of the day, the brain is a chemical and electrical devise and if something is identifiably wrongly in the long-term, chances are that at least some issues will be due to chemical/biological/genetic issues.

Also, this guy seems to be a scientologist.

  • That's correct, Dr. John Breeding is an active member of the CCHR. Anyone listening to him should put that into perspective, but that doesn't mean that everything he says is automatically false.

  • @TheEfkk

Inutero and childhood abuse can change the chemical balances and

cause over flow of adrenalin sometimes resulting in a life time of PTSD.

  • drugging these poor children is simply child abuse.

  • @rileyyielding

Appropriate reassurance, emotional comforting and hypnotic regression to deal with the stuffed crises/ OLD WOUNDs that cause the FEARS which are at the root of PSTD, ADD, AND schizophrenia among a list of so called 'mental disorders'. A balanced diet, gentle surroundings, willing listeners, verbal support, a HEALTHY life, all combined can HEAL.

  • excellent, Stef!

  • This is a hard one for me. I see that false diagnoses are rife. I can agree there's an over-reliance on medication to adjust children's behaviour. But I also know two kids (one boy, one girl) who I am convinced have a genuine condition that is being appropriately treated with ritalin. They are comprehensively disfunctional without it, despite focussed education programs and various other assistance (like help making friends, creative pursuits, etc - it's like a full time job for their parents).

  • @rivenrock One interesting difference I have observed between these kids and others (whose parents claim they have ADD or ADHD) is their reaction to stimulants - for example coffee. In both cases they are calmed by them rather than being hyped up. I find it curious that this is true for both (unrelated) children. Ritalin also makes them more calm, deep thinking and better able to recognise social cues (they still have to learn how to respond to them). I can't explain it, but it works for them.

  • In my opinion, it would be wise to take a closer look at the family dynamics and potential dysfunctions before assuming that it is a biological condition...

  • One of these kids is now 19. I've known her all her life. I'm well aware of her family dynamic. She exhibits textbook ADD symptoms. Her siblings do not. There's no difference in their upbringing (excepting givens like birth order). However, there is a biological difference. The 3 children all have different biological dads (& her dad's kids also have ADD). However, as none of them know or see their fathers (their parents are a lesbian couple) that difference in parenting isn't there either.

  • Apart from all that, the biological cure WORKS. In the Gabor Mate interview, he claims addiction is a biological problem caused by early abuse. Despite the original cause, if the problem is biological, why should a biological cure always be ruled out? I think this is worth considering separately to the problems of mis-diagnosis and the evils of the pharmaceutical trade. You've taken issue with my 'assumption', yet accept Dr Mate's blanket assertion that all addictions are biologically based.

  • @stefbot Yeah, Stef my mom was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder then schizophrenia, and all in all after years of constant medication and changing thereof, her mental health is a fraction of what it was before.

Before the medication, she held a steady job Now shes living in a facility and it's hard for me emotionally to talk to her because she sounds like a robot. Always doped up on something

Thanks for this interview, this helps me make sense of the situation more than her mothers explanations

  • I was under the impression that parenting IS a full time job.

  • Of course it is. Clearly what I meant was that this one problem requires an inordinate amount of their time. Being a parent 24/7 doesn't usually require close engagement with your child 24/7 - most people do manage to work and do other things as well without compromising the care of their children.

  • Great bit about inert vs. active placebos! This problem occurred to me before, I am glad to hear it is actually recognized in the field of medicine (although now I do feel slightly less smart having thought of it).

  • Don't isolate the babies from their mother and let the mother breastfeed the immidiately, and you can get rid of many problems like these. This is how nature does is, trust it.

  • I completely agree. Psychiatry is quackery for the most part because they keep saying there's a chemical imbalance but never producing stats on WHICH chemicals are too high or too low and they simply bulldoze their way into the pocketbooks of people who are trusting them. I know. I was in the hospital for panic and was told this exact line of bullshit. How many millions are being misled and hurt by this? That's what I hate.

  • Man this brings me back. i remember the days when within 5 minuets a doc was writing of a prescription after talking to my parents. MY PARENTS and not me. As i got older, turns out I was the problem but my home life was. It amazes me how doctors think that putting a kid on pills will fix the dysfunction of a family.

  • breeding's also got lots of vids up here on le tubes. :)

  • ADHD is the new Drapetomania. People just don't like authority.

  • I bet Dr. Breeding studied some of Dr. Szasz stuff.

  • Children, Drugs are bad mmkay ?

  • Fascinating as always! Luckily I've never taken any psycho drugs even though I was a bit of a problem child when I first went to school. Just say no to drugs!

  • I'm one of the one in fifty American's on permanent disability for a mental disorder. I'm physically fit, I'm well read, autodidactically (wow spell checker doesn't know that word) educated. I'm kind, friendly, and enjoy conversation. What's my disability? Nothing in the world makes sense, and I'm terrified to leave my house.

I wish I had the courage to do what you do, Stefan.

  • Nothing in the USA makes sense anymore.

  • A parable I composed:

A chef visits a doctor, and says "Doctor, I have this problem. Every time I try to remove a pan from the oven, I burn my hands really badly. I really can't take the pain, what can I do?"

Doctor says "Oh, thats simple. Take this anesthetic when you're cooking, and then you won't feel it when you remove the pan from the oven"

The chef is very pleased, but, of course, after a week or two, his hands are completely mangled.

    Thanks for the interview, Stefan

  • nice analogy.

  • OMG Thank you for this flow of thoughts! Being 22 I'm so glad I ever too medication for what i was doing. This is so amazing to hear real thoughts about it.

  • I love what you're doing Stefan. Very interesting interviews. I agree with what the dr. is saying, about these illnesses, that they absolve everyone of responsibility. This is so important.

  • i like this guy. does he have a youtube channel?

  • ADD I believe is just the symtom of a Narcissistic Disorder taking hold in the children of Narcissists.

Plain and simple - it is the conflict of Reality vs. Narcissistic Reality that is forced upon the child that their mind can not handle.

That and Crisis living - trust me - I am diagnosed and solved this myself through therapy.

A stable healthy childhood curse a myriad of ills.

  • I think better word is 'prevent'. Since no one has time machines.

  • Actually I meant to say - Cures..lol (Freudian slip?)

A Stable Healthy childhood CURES Myriad ills.

Sorry I was stoned. lol ...'a myriad of'' Christ I broke my own worst peeve. Bad Toad.

  • Great Post. I really like this Gentleman. I have listened to many of his lectures on the psychetruth channel. Thanks!

  • Great interview steff,i enjoyed this 1 very much, thank you

  • Hearing what Dr Breeding was saying about SSRI anti-depressants really concerns me. I'm on SSRI's and I've often wondered what the long term effects are. I tried to come off the drug, with my doctor's assistance, and I had a terrible lapse back into deep depression. I know psychotherapy is required to get at the core of the depression but it's so prohibitively expensive and this worries me further because I don't want to be on these drugs forever.

  • After hearing this I'm concerned about long term damage to my brain. Dr Breeding referring to the brain compensating by reducing serotonin levels, or reducing the numbers of receptors really worries me. I'm a student working towards a Comp Sci degree. The last thing I need is a reduced ability to write code. :(

  • This sounds so familiar to me.

I was diagnosed that i'm dyslectic , but my father had to really fight the school system to get that acknowledge because they thought i was plain stupid and should go to some low level school.

I'm 33 now and i've had to realy fight to get to where i am now and i'm proud of it.

I've always questioned authority and authoritarian structures because of what i went through in my childhood.

If my dad was not so persistent, i would have been lost to the school system.

  • what a cool looking docter

  • Thanks so much for this interview Stef, I'm a big admirer of Dr. Breeding's work and it's wonderful to hear such a conversation.

  • You're welcome, thanks for watching!
