  • (Don't get me wrong, Martha had her good moments... but she just WHINED way too much! She didn't give a crap about the Doctor's broken heart over losing Rose, she just wanted his attention on her. She didn't really care about Gallifrey and how that affected the Doctor, she was just mad that he wouldn't tell her about it. She didn't care about how falling in love as a human would break so many hearts, her immediate reaction was, "Why wasn't it ME?" She was utterly focused on HERSELF. D:<)

  • Sorry, but I absolutely get the Martha hate. I love Freema to bits, she's a great actress and really sweet, but Martha as a character was whiny, selfish, entitled, and really, REALLY annoying. Couldn't stand her. And not because she succeeded Rose so quickly, either, I'm not really a Rose fan, either. I'm a Donna girl.

  • I don't get any hate. Seriously. They are all different people, each with faults.

  • @tuppence2 I think all the Martha hate is because she was right after Rose. It was pretty obvious that the Doctor still loved Rose (and the audience did too), so it was hard seeing him with Martha. People are just bitter that he's not with Rose anymore.

  • @LeliOranges Oddly enough, I never particularly liked Rose. I much preferred Martha to her, though Donna is my favourite. (Partly because she never fell in love with the Doctor haha.)

  • Barrowman!!!

  • "Murray did me better than that".... Okay Freema

  • Martha didn't just have to hike around crapsack earth for a year to save the Doctor, she also had to look after him when he was disguised as human pre-WWI, working as a maid and getting treated like shit, even by the human!Doctor himself, and she had to get a job to support them when the angels trapped them in 1969. Rose and Donna never went to so much trouble, or spent so much time on non fun-time-traveling shit, but they always got so much more praise and affection.

  • (That being said, I'm not shipping Doctor/Martha or anything -- I don't ship the Doctor with anyone -- I just don't like when people hate on her. She was probably the most loyal companion because she did everything she did, and loved and supported the Doctor, without really getting anything in return. I think it was so unfortunate how she was cast into Rose's shadow, the Doctor was a bit of a dick to her in that way.)

  • @molegoddess I agree .. I've never understood the Martha hate. I don't have a favorite companion - they're all too different for that - but I adore Martha.

  • @jaydeebee69 I couldn´t agree more with you. Each companion - Rose, Martha, Donna, was brilliant in her own way. I really don´t get the Martha hate. She was so kick ass and loyal. Love Martha.

  • I hate when people hate on Martha and call her whiny for pining after the Doctor...as if most of them don't wish he'd come and sweep them off their feet as well. The truth is Martha was badass. She's probably the strongest companion so far because she actually took charge of situations and, in the end, had the strength to walk away.

  • @DontKicktheBritV2 She was the only one to walk away in the end. Rose gets killed off and Donna has her memory erased.

  • @truediva18 rose didn't die...she got sent to a parallel universe...

  • @Nyx024 I know she didn't really die. In the beginning of the Doomsday(I think) episode, she says, "this is how I died". She's on the list of the dead after the Torchwood One disaster. That's what I meant.

  • Martha was awesome. I hate Rose.

  • Its such a shame, Freema is so brilliant AS HER, such a vibrant nice person, but as a companion she's rubbish!!! IMHO of course. What a pity coz I REALLY like her as a person!!

  • Martha was the weakest companion so far in my opinion because she was used whilst Rose had just left. She didn't get that much development with the Doctor because he still felt bad for Rose. Although, it isn't Freema's fault, I thought her character could have gone better.

  • @cadvan6 I'm always curious when fans call Martha weak: Do you define Martha as weak because she was the one companion forced to go it alone while the Doctor sat in Tweety's cage for a year-- or weak as not getting any romantic/bonding scenes with the male lead?

  • @Bobsyermomsuncle I think it's because she was living in Rose's shadow, and never managed to get out from under it. Donna being the Doctor's friend worked much better as a post-Rose companion than Martha.

  • @JustGuess500 Different strokes. I though Martha was a brilliant companion; The Doctor was a poor host-- even David Tennant admitted that Doctor treament of Martha was shabby--"Shocking" I think was the word he used. Now for fans who imagined themselves as campainion during RTD's Lover, Mate, or Maid seasons, I can understand why fans can't identify with someone the Doctor feels is only fit save his hiney when he gets in trouble, but shine his shoes when he looking for love.

  • @Bobsyermomsuncle Can you tell me which interview that was? I don't think I've seen any interviews where David talked about Martha?

  • @BellaXmuerte23 Really? While I don't think he has ever mentioned Martha or Freema in a talk show, David does talk about the Doctor's treatment of Martha in most of the confidentials for Season Three and of course in the Confidential for the Sontaran episode in Season four. I beleive it was the confidential for the Shakespeare's code that he calls the Doctor's treatment of Martha- in comparison to how he treats others-- as shocking.

  • @Bobsyermomsuncle Ah, I've only ever watched interviews with the cast members.

Is there a Confidential for each episode or just a few?

  • @BellaXmuerte23 Yeah. I've heard BBC has cancelled the program, but Season Three should be on the DVD, and possibly portions of them that don't violate copyright on Youtube and archived at the BBC Doctor Who Site--IF you live in the UK or one of the Commonwealths

  • @cadvan6 Have to add, fans are not alone. I was watching the Campanion special with Moffat and when he gets to Martha you would think he would say something like "Martha, the Companion who saved the World with one word", but he dismisses her as (this is Paraphrased, I forgot the exact quote) the companion the Doctor didn't like/love. I wanted to ask how many ex-s does He have, and do people know him as "the Bloke Miss Anne thought was a dork?" :))

  • where can i find this commentary? it isn't on the dvd.

  • @truediva18 It's on David Tennant's official website, if you're still searching.

  • @DontKicktheBritV2 I am still looking. Thank you very much for that.

  • what is she saying at 0:09?

  • @ScarlettOcean92 mick take - making fun of

  • THIS IS SO CUUUUUTEE.

    i love them so much

david singing her "theme" omggg that's hilarious

  • is it just me or can you just cut the sexual tension between them with a knife.

  • David's just one of those people who I would love to know, whether he was famous or not :)

  • Hahahaha! Gotta love David's mock theme tune

  • I met Freema at a theatre I was working at! I felt so lucky!

  • Awwww.. David's like the boy who always pulls the hair of the girl he likes -- They're so cute and funny together, just loved them! Freema ROCKS!

  • I love David, he's so lovely, Freema too ^^

  • hahahaha! sounds like woody wood pecker lol :)

  • Freema's so cute.

  • She's so loud...

  • Freema's just delightful, just splendid with David. Too bad they did not have more on screen time together!

  • @3000agape I know, I was gutted when she left at the end of season 3

  • @3000agape I love David and Freema but nevr when they are together. I always think he's being mean to her. John Barrowman and her are fantastic together and Jack should have ended up with her.

  • @Meangrl19 Don't think Martha was Jack's type, if you know what I mean...

  • @mrsotter19 I understand what you mean, but Jack doesn't only like men. Jack is omnisexual. He'll sleep with anything with a pulse. According to RTD Jack was actually in love with Martha.

  • @Meangrl19 Actually it was John Barrowman who said that Jack Fancies Martha.

  • @Meangrl19 Really? Such a shame poor Martha didn't respond then because she always looked sooo sad.

  • @mrsotter19 if your trying to say that Jacks gay x he actually isnt hes bisexual which means he likes Both men & women xx :)

  • @kellylouise11 Yes. Of course you are right. I need to see some of the episodes again.

  • @mrsotter19 i know and yh u should LOL

  • @kellylouise11 Actually, John Barrowman *shakes fist* said himself that Jack's omnisexual, which means, as he put it, he'd do "anything with a postal code". :)

  • @soldiergirl84 i know that,, but i watched one of his interviews and he said that hes BI x

  • @mrsotter19 EVERYBODY'S Jack's type. ;P
