@0de321 This is a Microtech Ultratech Katana. I'm not really too sure where you can find another but I'm thinking maybe from the forums or custom knife shops where they will buy and sell knives from private parties. Check out bladehq's site. They have a ton more different MT's for sale if you like OTF knives.
Lightnings can be dolled up by using brass polish on the blade, removing the dumb pocket clip, changing the cheap screws and the zinc handle would be amenable to some sandpaper and repainting. Cheap and fun.
It's early christmas again. :-) And what a christmas... totally awesome Microtech there. With the tanto, looks so great, that is an awesome piece! Congratulations!
I basically don't like those Auto knives, and they're so expensive. On the other hand, they seem to be a good EDC choice, and they look great, very unobtrusive and with the "Asian" theme (Chinese letter, tanto blade and I noticed some signs on the clip if I'm not mistaken) it's a very fine piece. Can't wait for a review. :-)
@Schmidt54 Thanks! I'm really loving this knife so far! I have plans to get a few more. MT's are really expensive, I agree, but oh so fun to play with, lol! It's always early Christmas here! As you've noticed I've been getting into tanto style blades a lot lately:) Thanks for watching!
@wenkrush Sorry to hear about the sharpness of the blade. Mine came pretty sharp out of the box. I actually even cut myself without knowing it when I was flipping it open and closed.
@yukiotakata Thanks! I want a Combat Troodon myself. I like the larger knives. Since these are purely collectors items for me I don't really need to worry about size and weight:) Thanks for watching and review to come!
My first Microtech too!!! I believe it was also my first video as well. From 1999-2009 I always wanted a Microtech. This same knife ignited my passion for OTFs. Great purchase!!
@apophysis7 Thank you sir! It's a great compliment coming from you:) I've seen the awesome MT collection you have! And you can rest assured that this will not be the last MT I buy either, lol! Thanks for watching!
@Yesmaamiagree Yeah I did. I was originally going for a different MT. But I couldn't pass up the this variant. It was on sale so that was the push that I needed, lol! I'm really enjoying firing this knife!
Awesome initial impressions! That blade looks SICK just as expected from a MT. haha Tantos' have always looked so menacing. Love the fire looking finish on the blade. I would hate to get dome checked by that glass breaker!
@ZippoThisKnifeThat Thanks! The glass breaker is among the best I've ever seen on any knife. The usual looks like afterthoughts bolted on. This one is really aggressive! I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of either end of the MT, lol!
did nto know you spoke cantanese (sry for spelling btw i do have learning difficulties) also thanks a lot for not only translating the charater but also giving a way to pronounce it
@wolfbrother2501 I don't think anyone really knows that I spoke a different language. I've been told I don't have an accent:) You're welcome for translation. I don't think it has ever been covered here on YT. I like to give my subs and viewers all the information that I can!
@viperdude400ltd Definitely! I've been opening and closing that Lightning since I first got it and it still fires reliably. For something that's 35$ USD it's not bad at all! And it's decently sharp brand new. The tan one to the left sucks! It get's stuck and then comes off the tracks...
@tribunation My Chinese isn't the proper way but it will get you through a conversation. But I would recommend Rosetta Stone's Mandarin program. Do a search online and there's even a downloadable trial I think. It's going to Mandarin, the more widely spoken version. Let me know if you have any questions!
@An0nEeMouse Thanks! Yeah I've held off for so long now, just like with the Sebenza. I have a few more MT's in mind so stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
@bigbubba5037 Lol, you know me:) You can usually tell what sort of knife I may be getting with the knife I use to unbox it with:) Thanks for watching!
@UglymanUSA I bought the red auto from bladeplay site. They still have them in a variety of colors! It was only 35$USD. I've heard Ebay has them for cheaper. It's called the "Lightning". It fires more reliably than that tan one to the left in the vid.
As an aside, I was interested to hear that you speak Cantonese, but cannot read or write it. I speak two languages but always wanted to add Mandarin Chinese. Are they similar?
@Tanrichguy Thanks! Yup, full review to follow after I've had a little time to experience the knife:) There are similarities but the pronunciation can get really different in a lot of cases. Learn Mandarin as it's more widely spoken. I took a bit of Mandarin in college but I've lost a lot of it now. What two languages do you speak?
@oromoto Thanks! I'm really happy with this purchase and I'm glad I got one before it was sold out. That watch is a Casio Pathfinder... it's funny because I'm not even an outdoors person! I just like the technology encased within it:)
@EnduringEagle Thank you:) But wait, review to come, this is just the first impressions:) This knife retails for 369$ at bladehq's site. The price has come down a little, I'm assuming because it's an older knife. I was surprised they still have them considering the date on the clip. It's actually cheap in terms of price considering they labeled this as a custom! The smallest MT's run for just under 200$
Nice! Damn cantonese, I'm mandarin ;) Anyhow, gotta love microtechs... Only wish they were legal to carry around california, kinda ruins the whole purpose of getting autos but hey! definitely nice to have an auto in the collection!
@2xwcs Lol! Well Mandarin is the more common... It's why they call it the "Language of the Country" :) I'm a minority if I went to China, lol! I wish these were legal also! But I'm more of a collector anyhow, it's a great addition to my collection and I plan on picking up more in the future! Thanks for watching!
@MyopicChihuahua I was born in Taiwan but raised by a Cantonese speaking family here in the US. Lol, pu tong hua!! That's funny:) I guess I'm the same way, I'm fluent to a certain degree, I can hold my own in a conversation but if you start to speak the "proper" way or in the older style, I'm lost!
@Siewpor Thanks! I'm planning on picking up more:) What?! I thought you could write and write Chinese. Lol, yeah I think I a lot of Chinese people would expect me to say "dao" instead because it's the most common. But nope just Cantonese:)
What of knife is that? And where I could find one, I think they are sweet

@darkchild57 It is a beauty of a knife. I love the IKBS and the blue handle. My only complaint is the blade edge out of the box.
