I've heard and read that cobras can raise up 1/3 of their body length off the ground. So, on a 18 foot cobra that would mean it could raise up 6 feet tall and look someone in the eye. I'd love to see a picture or video of that. If, it's actually true.

King Cobras are only dangerous when they are guarding their eggs (Only snake which does that) and when shedding their skin. On a normal day they just don't waste their venom on humans.

@gunandmovieman I don't know alot about them i've read they can strike roughly the same distance they can raise themselves off the ground. In an adults case i'd say 5-6ft would have to be a safe bet.
