In that 10-year period we went through riots, the Vietnam war, the killings of President Kennedy and his brother as well as Martin Luther King, and peace rallys that turned violent because of the powers that were. Oh yes, there was the Watergate scandal. All of us got to see tthe world we knew unravel every night courtsey TV. I know, I lived through those years. There is more I beleive.

I wouldn't overidealize this phase. Been there, folks. Best part was crashing racial barriers and questioning norms. Worst was more kids--lots more-- from broken homes and, well, visit mental hospitals and you'll see what's left of some of the brain fried who didn't think much about possible negative consequences of recreational drug use. I know others who had been quite functional, but now they're in their 60's & some serious neurological sh*t is showing up-- perhaps linked to dope days?
