@neonatalpenguin Mike and Angelo looks pretty crap in it's early days yes, too americany (even though it was made in London) the mid 90's were about the best era, they dropped the americanyness :L
I've posted comments on other videos of the Stonewall Children's ITV era but I just have to say I can't stop watching them! Far and away the best era of Children's ITV but I was only in reception when Jeanne and Scally stopped presenting. This is jogging my memory nicely. CBBC seems to get rated highly for the broom cupboard days but to be honest it looks stuff and boring compared to this. I really do wish this era lasted longer into my childhood.
Hi again BCJ1985, yeah have to agree that the Stonewall-era of "CITV" was absolutely fantastic! I just can't express how much I used to love this period of it and it's a real shame it only lasted 2 years - but what a great 2 years it was! Jeanne, Jerry, Scally & Clive were all great presenters & I agree, far better than the rather overrated Broom Cupboard-era of "CBBC"!
I've just bought a book from Amazon, called "25 Years Of BBC Radio Norfolk" & there's a brief bit in it about Jerry Foulkes (who was a DJ on there before his "CITV" days). It only cost me a couple of quid, so well worth getting if you are interested in reading about how a local BBC station got going etc...
Yes Jeanne is excellent and makes the whole thing look very spontaneous. In fact I find it rather surprising Central didn't at least keep her when they won the contract back. I can't believe she's not had any more presenting jobs since.
love to see more Rolf's cartoon club on youtube...
wished I recorded them.....at the time I only had one tape and recorded Neighbours..which I then recorded over...blank videos were not cheap for a kid..
What Id love to see again is footage of CITV when it was on the summer mornings in 1990. Great times- I rememember the shows aired that time "Just for the Record","The Haunted School",and "Vikki the Viking". Just for the Record I recall was great. If anybodys got footage from that time,Id love to see it up here!! Thanks for all the memories- Knightmare had awesome music!!
Why does Thames or rather Pressman and Cathro always want their actors to have American accents on their shows (minus T-Bag), guess we'll never know! Well I guess it was to make it look like an American sitcom, though it was clearily British!
well Pat Sharp says he would love to bring it back as adult fun house with the two twins - and two trusted websites have actually listed it as coming back but I still think it is returning!
I'm sure the first clip is from early 1991 (not 1990), as they only started to use the shorter 1989 CITV ident at the start of each day, from Sept 1990 - Apr 1991. The longer version was used from Sept 1989 - Sept 1990 & again from Apr 1991, when Tommy Boyd took over. The CITV logo that goes into the ad breaks was the Stonewall Productions logo, which was used whilst they did CITV from 1989 - 91. Also, the TSW presenter with Gus is Sally Meen, who didn't join TSW until around summer 1990.
Thanks a lot for your message, I'm glad so many people are enjoying these old video clips, as the 'good old days' of CITV with Jeanne Downs & Scally were excellent, and so much better than CBBC was at the time - as even Andy Crane jumped ship to CITV! As for getting older, I shall be 30 in 9 weeks time! Scary hey?
Man, I didn't realise Mike & Angelo was so crappy.
Still, bonus points for Benjamin Zephaniah.

Are you sure the first clip is from early 1991? Don't you mean early 1990? The bumpers of the last two clips are different to the first one.
