im a army wife and really n our depolyment unit we mainly get along because of the simple fact. everything you say and do even post on facebook is reflected on our soldiers. I love the other wives im the youngest im 17. my hubby still deployed. our unit is one big family. wives look at me. jst see if i can do it..they can do it :)

Not every FRG is bad. My FRG has only been about business since I joined they army and have been very nic and helpful to me. Provided me with alot of resources I needed as a new army wife

Unfortunately, a lot of the Army wives I was around were super fake and would be nice to your face and then talk shit behind your back for nothing. I will never ever join another FRG, that's for sure. Also, I would see how wives would act while their husbands were deployed with my husband and it would make me sick. Don't be married if you want to be a whore, seriously. Now, not all wives were like this, but some of them definitely are. I'm just glad I have a wonderful husband and marriage. :-)

One reason I never live on base. Military housing? No thank you. I'd rather live in a bad neighborhood of post. Ever since I've been in the military, my closest friends had absolutely no military affiliation. Forget about it. Oh yeah. The Army doesn't have "bases". That's the Navy and Air Force. The Army has "Posts". I cringe when I hear that.

Being an Army wife is choosing to be invisible. My husband has been a soldier for 20 years and he loves the job for reasons other than the job itself. He and the rest of his unit are porn addicted, all cheat on their wives and barely give 2 thoughts to their children. Cheating does happen, but I'd say those who do cheat are in the minority. Most of the spouses I know are good, faithful women. I've seen someone who lived next door to me move another Marine into her base housing the entire time her husband was gone. It was really sad...and frustrating to see. My husband has also told me about married guys who cheat when they go on the boat. btw, I am in this video but I had just had a baby and looked fat and awful. LOL

@themysticknight Please do not generalize. There are plenty of military spouses, myself (and I'm assuming yourself) that are not whores, and who stay faithful because we love our men. I'm sorry you're having such a terrible experience, but there are good and bad woman everywhere... however I think living on base may push both to the extremes. I have a wonderful FRG and they are extremely supportive. I hope that wherever you go next you have a better experience than your current one! =)

people, cheating is something that happens in some marriages even when living in the same household i guess its even more common when a person is deployed overseas. same w gossip, it happens in neighborhoods where people barely know each other, dont tell me u werent expecting it to happen at a base... its just the same! it doesnt make it right, and its still unnerving but dont say bases are bad because of that, its not that different from life 'outside'

As a single soldier, never married in the military, I saw the hardships of the married men when deployed. I overheard the phone calls back home to spouses. It was awful. Soldiers should never get married. That sort of life is just too hard for some. Especially the young 18-25 crowd. And, upon returning from deployment, many of our friends from other battalions would let us know which wives were down at the club as soon as we deployed. Lot's of heartache. Always hated it for the kids.

You could probably sit in any given housing area, park on the side of the street, and just watch them come and go in and out of houses during any major deployment. Dirty. Nasty. alot of the wives and husbands cheated and thats being at all the bases i lived at. the comment about guys coming and goign all the time is true. i am at fort hood now and all you hear about is these girls and guys just screwing each other over. from my experience with seeing this it does have to do with alot of the 18 to 25 crowd. yeah fort irwin was just boring as hell and barstow was just dirty. i didnt like it but thats just my opinion.

thanks for the heads up, im in a situation where I might and thats a low might be moving to where my fiance is although it's not any of those bases it's actually a Marine base. But all I've heard is that there are alot of "easy" women chasing after Marines not really the other way around.......oh and it's in North Carolina

The only problem here at Ft. Lewis is everyone is a bad egg and they all hang out together...they feed off the new girls who move on base.

I was befriended by one of the most horrible women and she boycotted my husband and I and started all of these rumors about us our first month here. All because I was apparently friends with someone she doesn't like...it was awful!!!

Now I don't talk to anyone. They're all corrupt and stupid and it is like high school IT'S A POPULARITY CONTEST, A CLUB!

I did my best to remove my ex-wife from this type of behavior (and the military lifestyle). Sadly, upon being stationed in the states the German mafia (German military spouses in the states) got a hold of her. Yeah... we're divorced now.

This is all so true! It's like desperate housewives, military style. I was a soldier once and a veteran and now I am an officers wife. I know the military life both from the front lines and the silent ranks. We live an aquired lifestyle. You have to be prepared to live like a single parent, but remain faithfull and commited to a man you hardly see. My husband and I are a blended family with 6 kids. Out of 2.5 years we've been together we've lived together 14 months and have 2 kids together.
