  • I'm a huge GT-R buuuuut... I think the Spec V isn't really that much better. I'm sure it will get a faster time than the regular version but I think they could of done more.

    The problem is they built the regular version so good already that I think it was impossible for them to make the Spec V a lot better. Imagine what they could of done if they made the entire body out of carbon fiber... O_O

  • Is it just me or did ne one else see that the wheel is on the LEFT side and not the Right like most cars in Japan???

  • I think the wheels are too plain and cheap looking...but as long as they are super light...all that matters.

  • well thats the thing, the gtr in both specs is a travel car. spoiled when it was sent around the nurburgring and not so devilishly trying to be modded by jackasses who don't realize that nissan made it to be un moddable. the ZR1.. drivers car, faster, better looking, and sounds awsome as shit.

  • slapping a whole new turbo system on it doesn't do much since they already did it with the spec v. im probably going to get flamed for stating that but oh well. HKS gtr's have already been put up against the zr1 and other cars and it still loses, i'd give you the link but sadly i don't write these things down

  • no your wrong.., i've seen that videos.., the HKS 570 kit in his GTR, it consist of (ecu, pipes, remapp boost), not turbo upgrade, still stock turbo and the car is pushing 550-600hp, still not bad. The Mines R35 GTR did the samething and got 600hp without turbo upgrade, but im sure thats coming in the future. Theres HKS 570, 600, 680, 800 kits, now if the ZR-1 runs into a HKS upgraded turbo GTR? trust me it would be a different story, especially off the line.

  • what the ZR-1 vs the HKS GTR? man i seen that video plenty of times, all he has is the HKS 570 kit on? No big deal, just "minor" tunnig, u can easily get close to 600hp with just minor modds, i mean its still good. Like i said..if the ZR-1 runs into a upgraded turbo GTR? it'll be a different story.

  • just like if the gtr ran into a zr1 with a slightly upgraded supercharger. its funny though. they say the zr1 shouldn't be compared because of the massive difference in horsepower but 638hp is at the crank its loses almost 100 due to an extreme fault in the transmission. so forget the supercharger just upgrade the tranny.

  • GT-R un moddable? You need to look around buddy there are different companies making 700 and 800hp GT-Rs as well as two companies in the process of building 1000+ hp GT-Rs.

  • 1000 hp gtrs at what cost and how much time and effort? and you do know that at such power the gtr becomes less stable right? becausr the body and frame are built UP not out.

  • @AllCarsAllTheTime2 Any car you mod will get less stable as you build it because they work on parameters beyond stock, so don't say that its impossible when it really isn't. In most cases with these expensive cars that have a completely new drivetrain and system it takes a little innovation to upgrade. In comparison The ZR-1 is based off of an existing chassis and motor style, not to mention the car had support from Lingenfelter in pre-development, no one had such plans for the GT-R.

  • Kind of disappointed they weren't able to lighten the GTR SpecV more. It's like they made the GTR so good, it was hard to give it any dramatic improvements.

  • Learn some English before you comment. I said they made the GT-R so good, it was hard to give it any DRAMATIC improvements. That little scramble turbo button and a carbon fiber roof are improvements yes. Will they make the Spec-V WAYYYY faster than the stock GT-R? Not likely. Therefore I said there was no dramatic improvements.

  • Sorry, was in a bad mood when I responded. But I don't think the changes they made on the Spec V are all that impressive. Hard to improve on something that's as good as the GT-R..

  • Read the story Road & Track did on the Spec V... Some improvements were dramatic.. If you want Video Game Dramatic improvements you can take a standard GTR and have Hennessey build you a insane GTR.

  • rhd drive is Jap Spec..i don't think Nissan haven't made a LHD Spec V yet for the U.S...but its coming though..

  • yea it did..thats from Edmunds..u know how Edmunds is? GT Channel Test got it less than that..and another magazine in Euro has it on 3.3...but the 3.2 was done by Nissan driver though..

  • You can hear the revised VR38DETT engine pulling in more air through the intake valves at high RPM's pushing more top end power compared to the 2009 model. Well done Nissan.

  • Kinetic Energy Recovery System, nissan call it overboost control but i think it's a fancy calling. It charges energy from braking and use it as power later on. Sounds like an electric car but it is used in F1 as power boost. What I have read from SpecV review is that it will boost an extra 16.8N/m torque instead.

  • 16 n/m of tourque is a massive difference. That would realy help it pulling out of the corners!

    for example go look up the HKS r34 GTR video where Tsuchia ups the power a ton (using variable cam) and only gains like a split second

  • Because the dual clutch changes gears faster. I like normal clutch and stick too but times are changing. Paddle shifters are slowly replacing normal manual transmissions.

  • Is over 2 seconds faster, correct, but I saw a tuner at the Portland show for example and for 1,000 dollars, power up 15%, so difference would then be 1 second, add a break upgrade and you are near the specv time. Specv costs double standard car, they should have put the 4.4 liter engine in to make specv worth it, but they will hold 4.4 liter engine for next model, which is exciting expect 1500 kg and 650hp for 2013. For now, Lets see topgear comments when they compare 09 gtr with vtec soon!!!

  • Amazing balance round the long corners! The question is how much better the extra torque etc. it performs over the standard model? This car may be redundant before even coming to market with the great aftermarket tuners around making the standard model almost as good.Perhaps they should have used the 4.4 liter engine in this car so that it makes sense?Nevertheless, lets allow them to make some profit here, and be able to use the 4.4 liter engine,something to look forward to 2013 standard model
