  • @Phenom20Uk

in the movie, the master wanted jackie to discover his past life by creating a situation where he would have to act purey on instinct. he wanted to help jackie, not make his pupil kill jackie. derp

  • who is the name of the movie of jackie chan

  • Anyone notice between 0:47 and 0:48...the front sword looks quite flimsy. I know they are only props but come on. You can do better than that guys!

  • @Phenom20Uk

not all swords are made to be rigid. a lot of Asian martial arts rely on the slashing motion of a sword and that doesn't require them to be stiff.

  • @wildpyro910 Actually, this is because the sword used here is for performance and practice, not actual combat. If you look at the flash back, the sword used by the Prince is much more rigid and ideal for combat.

  • @LiouTao Some Chinese swords are actually not rigid at all, but they can still cut... Like a paper, it can cut you, but it's metal and cut much more than a paper...

  • @gusimoes No such swords exists, those swords are performance swords, used for show, never used for battle. Swords used for battle are rigid like the one Chan wields.

  • @LiouTao nandao is a sword if I remember...

  • @gusimoes Nandao used for battle and used for Wushu are different. "paper swords" would never be used in battle because they can't be used. Nandao used in Wushu would be much more rigid and hard to allow for deflecting blows which is something a "paper sword" does not allow. Also, Nandao's are dual-wielded, "paper swords" are too light to be needed for dual-wielding use.

  • @LiouTao That's not the point, it's still a sword, and you can cut with it... I didn't say that those sword were ready for battle, I just said they were swords and could cut...

  • @gusimoes You cannot cut with a paper sword, they're made to be 'paper' for a reason. The 'swords' you claim to exist didn't exist until recently when 'Wushu' became a 'sport'. All 'weapons' has two types, there's the 'flippy' type and the 'real' type, with the 'flippy' ones made for everything but battle, and the the real ones made for battle.

  • @LiouTao Would you let someone strike you with the paper sword?

  • @gusimoes No, but nobody would take a papersword into battle when they can take one with an actual blade.

  • @wildpyro910 Slashing or chopping? It's most likely chopping.

  • @wildpyro910

    Correct

Chinese weapons were used more so for slicing arteries, ligaments, and making it difficult for opponents to move properly after being sliced.

  • @wildpyro910 Indeed, it only takes about a pound of pressure to pierce flesh(Learned from Firefly, but it makes sense, no?)

Also, the Chinese blades are flexible because of energy transfer(Or so I've heard)

  • @wildpyro910 'urumi' is the best example for that kinda sword

  • @wildpyro910 This is how I broke one of my master's training swords. xD

  • One of my favourite fight scenes

  • Chinese martial arts vs Indian martial arts

  • He calls him "young man" but the two actors are probably of the same age.

  • Youre all right, but Jackie still looking much younger than other actors even younger than him...

  • Indian Morpheus

  • epic !
