nice! i'm a beginner on drums, although it's been a passion. my best bud's been on this craft for a little over than 20years & he said #41 is really not an easy thing to learn. gotta admit yo, you did it really good :) hope to be able to play it in the future
you do a pretty good job, got to admit im alittle jealous of the ability to play open, im not horrible, but im just starting to learn. noticed you do ALOT of ghost notes.
This is a good cover of #41. OP is composed and relaxed. I think the only things are some minor details and hi-hat work (which is a signature of Carter Beauford IMO). To OP, did u purposely tune the drums to sound like carter beauford's set in his video? Not too bad man, its a whole different talent to tune well.
Hahahaha...thats funny...If carter's snare sounds like mine i feel bad for him...And if you can't tell the difference between real and fake. i feel bad for you...You must have a lousy ear..
Nice relaxed hat sticking and a sweet open play switchup at 3:00! Good extended version of 41 to practice 3 minutes of right then 3 left then right again. I'm trying to force myself to learn open play but I am still a novice. Maybe someday it will catch!
hey man that's great. I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, but I can still tell how cool that was. you need a cowbell and woodblock though for the little reggae groove part. lol.
That was awesome....that would be a song I would play different everytime. You nailed it exactly. Is that your goal on most songs? I like to improvise but I think I'm a bit sloppy. You got talent, I like it.
jasincarlin... great job... as we all know Carter is amazing. And to keep pace with him is great work, you look like you have praticed this for sometime and still enjoy it... but how can you not... its DMB!
You obvuously know the song well, and you did well with all the cymbal work and what not, The hi hat rolls in the beginning were messy, and all the ghost notes were way too loud, and btw, the fill @ 2:58 is triplets.
granted the hats in the beginning were sloppy, however i am using triplets in that fill @ 2:58. If you look closely, it's a RRL fill...much too hard to go back up to that ride like carter....thanks so much for commenting.
guess you did well when people say its a fake. Good shit man, real steady with the left hand on the ride. Im having a hell of a time mastering that part and ive been playing for 10 yrs.
absolutely not fake. Only problem is there are no overhead mics. You can tell its real because carter would never have a snare that sounds that bad! Thanks for the time to check it out and for you comment.
Ahh, this was a nice pice of art both watching and listening. Alltough I love Carter and Dave Matthews, I am not so very familiar with this particular song, but for sure, I got a lot of associations to Carter by watching you! I get a feeling of warmth and comfort of seeing you so relaxed and so into the groove. Good job man! Keep it up!
great job man, i find the rim click part hard to keep that fast, and he's so crystal clear with that!
constructive criticism: (who the fuck am I right? lol) I'd probably put more of your grace notes on the hihat, rather than filling out the snare bit, as your overall rhythm is excellent and bouncing, your grace notes tend to give it more of a straight rock feel if that makes sense.
Yeah i hear what your saying. thanks so much for the comment. Carter is just so hard to get right. Whether its the open hand lead, or his broken hats. However i did my best trying to keep up with someone of his caliber. I'll repost it when i understand him in 20 years. i apprieciate you watching my video...thanks.
under the table and dreaming dvd has the intro to #41 transcribed thats a great place to start for this song you are playing some double strokes when carter is playing mostly single stroke thirty second notes untill you get to the triplet patter near the end of the intro check it out. It really helpled me out
thanks for your comment i apprieciate the time. Yeah i've seen the dvd before. Carter's just too badass to emulate. Maybe over the next 20 years i'll be half as talented as him. one can wish...
Dude, I love Carter too man. His style is uncanning... the way he throws his symbols in there while at the same time doesnt make it sound too busy. Great attempt!! I just had a question for you... how do you get that fast with your hands in order to keep that rythme on the high hat? Do you have any tips for me?
the only tip i have is to get a practice pad and constantly go over your rudiments. the only thing im doing here on the hats is doubles, triplets, and an occasional para diddle diddle. Any other questions? shoot me a private message and i'll try to help anyway i can.
very very true. the hardest thing about figuring out carter is his hi hat displacement. Plus if you listen to more than one version of one of his tracks, you dont stand a chance. thanks for the comment
excellent! ur not carter but u can emulate him just fine. dont worrie bout the haters. KEEP DOIN WHAT WE LOVE DOIN!

What kind of kit is that?

You more or less managed to hold most of the beat which is more accomplished than 99% of the drummers out there could manage.
If I can come close to playing this song as well as you, I will consider myself accomplished. Great job.

Nevertheless, ghost not are too lood, at the end of the song, carter's drums cover your own sound during the reggae groove!!

Hi there man, i can tell that you've done a nice job.
But i would suggest you to try being more clear on your strokes, more solid especially on the toms as what i've heard from this video.
Also try not to use a lot of ghost notes.
But very well done, Carter is one of my favourite drummers on earth, i hope they come to argentina some day.
