My daughter is 17 breaks into fits of laughter at "Clouseau" she just loves these movies. With Clouseau you know what's coming and we start to laugh before it happens. No comedians today can do that.

When you have 1 comedic genious in a movie it's good. When you have 2 working off each other, like Herbert Lom & Peter Sellers, hold on to something and pray you can catch your breathe from all the laughter. That's why we all love these Panther movies so much.

@5inthehole Thanks for the kind words, but I just can't believe their is a human with a pulse who would not laugh while watching Lom/Sellers. Just look at the first 8 seconds of this video so generously posted for our funnybones. If you can look at that and not feel good you belong on another planet. Just the timing is incredible, forget about the facial expresion and the tone of Lom's voice. A real master of comedy, I'd put him up their with Curley Howard.

Dreyfus is my favourite character in the pink panther series and I loved watching him in these movies since I was a little child. If Dreyfus was your favourite character thumbs up. Herbert Lom is the best, and his role in the Pink Panther series was truly memorable. There was another film in which Lom starred with Sellers called The Lady Killers, and it was hard to watch it with a straight face as I kept on thinking about this role as the mentally unstable superior to Clouseau! The scene at the end of A Shot in the Dark where he goes animal and starts bitting folks is so funny (frame 2:20).

Thank you for posting this. Sellers was lucky when he had a great actor like Herbert Lom as his straight man. I love the way Dreyfus just loses it. What a team Peter Sellers had around him with his mates David Lodge and Graham Stark in on the act as well.each time I watch this it just gets better!

I had the great privilege of meeting the great Herbert Lom in London yesterday.

He's 93 but still out and about and, though frail and a little deaf, still is as bright as a button.

My 13-year old son was with me. I told Mr Lom that he hadn't yet seen any of the Pink Panther films. "He should - they're very good", was his reply.

They're better than that, they're excellent and he is a very great actor.

To this day I still think the best comedic duo in history is Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom. They just played so fucking well off each other and had so many memorable and funny scenes.

Growing up, my parents were fans of these films. My father had this uncanny ability to do Herbert Lom's "eye twitch" to a tee. He would most frequently use it if I were misbehaving or otherwise being a moron. I will forever associate that eye twitch with my father and parents in general who are dealing with kids who are being stupid. The "eye twitch" also made me nervous as a kid: I knew punishment from on high was soon to follow.

Clouseau believes the man that hates him more than anything in the world is some waiter in some bistro, and this drives Dreyfus even more crazy since despite his open contempt for Clouseau, Clouseau is such an idiot he is completely unaware of this

Although once Clouseau said something like:"Do I sense some hostility in your words?", as if he finally realized how much Dreyfus hated him.

Herbert Lom sure was great as Inspector Dreyfus, the only man who saw Clouseau for what he actually was.
