I used to go there back in the 80s before Rocky Horror (I was in the Cedar Lane cast). I took my wife there this spring. Same burgers, same great taste. My wife is not a burger person, but she ate three! If you're near Hackensack, just go. You'll be glad you did.
That wasn't White Manna, it was Harry's Corner, in Teterboro. Great place for chili dogs, used to go there back then, I remember the drums. That was creepy thing to hear about.
If you have to go to the electric chair, make White Manna your last meal. Besides being the best burgers, think of the mess you will leave behind for them clean-up afterward!!
Dude, thank God you can have that argument. Out here in NEPA, nothing comes close to either one. But if I had to choose your right. Hackensack over JC.
I'm from California and was just in NJ and my friend, Michael, took me here for hamburgers...They are without a doubt the best in the world. All I can say is GO GO GO if you ever get a chance.
I'm assuming from the 5150 you're from Cali. I'm from Jersey and live in Cali now. No way Jersey is more WIERD than California. Sorry. White Manna is the shit. Way better than In N' Out. Period.
There is a White Mana in Jersey City (note spelling):
Both establishments are now operated independently of each other and indeed have different owners but they were both founded by Louis Bridges back in 1946.
The Jersey city location lost one "n" in its name when a sign maker made a mistake. The name stuck.
All the frikin' years I never noticed that. Ah, who cares! LUV EM' Both! Out here in PA there's one old guy has a dog n' burger joint in Tamaqua. He'll build it like a Manna if you ask. It's good, but just makes you jones for a Manna (no potato roll). Two hour drive but worth it for the real thing.
I was starving after work today and one of my buddies said something about White Manna and I had to go. 8 burgers and an order of fries later I am a happy full man.
great food, but bring a change of clothes if you are going out afterwards. my friends and i hit this place for lunch back when we were in high school. people complained ALL afternoon that we reeked of onions. :)
By far, one of the ugliest burgers ever, but nonetheless Dee-Lish-Us! 4-6 burgers per sitting is the norm for most, and at only about 85-95 cents each (as I remember...it's been a couple of years since I left my job in Hackensack), it's a bargain.
Be forwarned.....after lunch there, everything will reek of the burgers. Your clothes, your car, your hair, I mean everything.
this is the best slider place i have ever eaten at, so sloppy yet sooooo good!

WM in Hackensack is better than the one in JC. Always packed with limited space so not a bad idea to get a pick up if its too crowded.
