@21stCenturyCat Who needs international adventure, clashes of cultures, extreme physical danger, natural beauty, and all that crap? Just point a camera at a couple of buildings, eat a pizza, and go home! And it doesn't take four months out of your life!
It is pretty funny to see you have trying to selfishly promote yourself on youtube, with the whole made up crap about you champing that lady in australia and also attempting to harness the democratic movement of youtube for your own benefit, to sully the movement really, to fail dramatically in all your macovillian attempts to be down to just 203 views on a vid after over a month. It really goes to show, just be patient, and that person will naturally realize their own shallowness. Hurray!
Good to see you here again. I've never been to Chicago and every time I see a video from there I want to go. You showed a lot in two minutes. Someday I will make it there.
Was in Chicago several times in 1962 & 63. Not enough time to see the sites, and this was long before digital, so the only proof of the visit is one of those photo booths once found all over the place.
As great a city as it might be, I doubt I'll be visiting Chicago anytime soon. However this *has* inspired me to go out tomorrow and purchase a pizza:)
@periurban Couldn't find a Capone statue, but there were plenty of t-shirts for sale with his image. I think he should have been the mayor, but they wound up with somebody more corrupt. Nice to hear from ya!
love the ending. Isn't that the way it is though? You search all over to find the right spot to vlog, with out interuptions it's just yea. Haven't been to Chicago since I was 5 it looks almost the same save for a few statues.
Nice to see a new vlog. You did a fantastic job of capturing the beauty of Chicago in this video. Chicago has been a place I've wanted to visit for a while now, and you're tour made me want to go even more. Great stuff as always, Ken!
Nice to see you back and thanks for the tour. I love Chicago. I haven't been there for about 7 years, and this makes me want to go back soon. But as a New Yorker I object to their calling that casserole a pizza ;-)
@FantasticBabblings Well, as a Boston native, my preferred pizza on a day-to-day basis is the NYC/Bos style with as thin a crust as possible (crust thinner than the cheese above), but a really authentic and proper deep dish pie is a true joy. What I can't stand is all the doughy, chewy, nasty crap in between that most of the country eats without question. But, I suppose, that's a topic for another vlog :^)
In just three hours you saw more of Chicago than I saw in four visits, but then I was only passing through and only stopped once to get gas... It's great to see you making a vid again!
He's back!! I was about ready to message you to see what was up. Excellent hi-def quality. You captured the life and essence of a beautiful city. Great to see you vlogging again!
@MrRandomWritings Yes, very helpful. And there was a long line of people waiting to take their turn on the couch with him as well. Perhaps social interaction will be making a come-back.
Chicago is definitely one of the best cities in the world - a world class city, world class people. I've lived in a lot of places on this planet but I still call Chicago 'home'.
Great to see a new video! If I had to guess the topic of your next video, I would have never in a million years guessed Chicago! I guess that makes you unpredictable!
@GreatGig1 I guess vlogging is just like falling off a bicycle, or something like that. Yes, I sat with Bob, and I had deep-dish pizza, but Bob refused to come with me for the pizza. Oh well. Thanks!
@OhCurt Thanks for your help on the locations. I didn't have time to catch the red line up to Bob and Emily's condo, though. Thrilled that you got the MacBook - When I saw the photo on Facebook, I was wondering if it was real, or if Diana was just having you carry her box for her. You're gonna love it! (BTW, this was the first video completed on my new MacBook, with the new version of iMovie).
Ken! it's great to see you again. I've been wondering how you're doing - clearly very busy these days, but I'm glad you took the time to visit with Bob. Perfect ending.
@gabrielized The weather was great - cool and crisp, and whatever little rain there was timed itself to be while I was in the conference hall. Yes, next time I will need somebody to help me eat all that pizza!
Haven't been back to Chicago since I made a trip with my parents as a kid. Would be great to go see it now. Thanks for sharing the sites!
Three day conference sounds...well, like three days of siting a lot. Always something to pick up and learn though. Good you got three hours to see the actual place.
@jrsnyderjr The conference was very good, but other than the few hours before it started on Saturday, and a tiny bit of time after it ended late each night, we could have been anywhere. I like to go out and appreciate where I am, and not just have it be another hotel interior.
@kenrg Glad the conference was good but it is true that hotel interiors all look alike. When I was a road warrior in the nineties, I did like to spend at least a day, even in seemingly mundane cities like Des Moines or Jacksonville, visiting local sites. Usually there's always something you didn't expect and was worth the time.
Love a quick view of Chicago. I would have been raised there had my parents not moved to FL in the 70's! I really would love to go back..have tons of family that still lives there. It looked remarkably clean. That pizza...oh my...was it good?
@PaintedRavensong The pizza was incredible! The sausage is not just crumbled here and there, but a solid disc of sausage that covers the entire pizza. Every bit full of sausage. If you like that kind of thing ;^)
Haven't been to Chicago in quite awhile, and I remember Gino's! Very cool to see this beautiful city, and good to see you back vlogging, have a great day, Ken! :)
@andymooseman Good to be back on the 'Tube... hopefully won't be another three or four months before I have a chance to post another. Navy Pier was awful quiet when I was there, and I was wishing I could have been there for the big meet-up back when.
@kenrg One day I hope to make Chicago.. New York and San Fran.. well, a man can dream! Right now I be glad if I can make it home to Sweden this year.. but I will try.. :)
Lovely, lovely. I'm glad you had those three hours, Ken - hope you get more time next time. You brought back some good memories, and I'm glad I caught this gem of a vlog.
@musosf Three hours of touring, followed by three days in the windowless subterranean conference center at the Hyatt. But the few glimpses I had of the city were worth the effort.
so 'thats' how you do a travel video! you great show off! ;-)
