There are distinct difference between Trot and Enka--now I can't tell you what they are, cos I personally have NO IDEA... But I will say that I read an article on it before. If I find it, I'll post it.
Korean Trot was created before the Japanese Occupation. It just so happens that Korean Trot and Japanese Enka were created around the same time!!! No copied anyone. Both styles are distictly different.
"Trot" music was present before and during the Japanese occupation. Therefore, how does it make it more Japanese. Japanese written characters have chinese origins. Then Japanese is little Japanese and more chinese? THINK ABOUT IT.
This is not korean traditional music but japanese style music.
Actually, this music is mixed Japanese music with a bit of korean music and played korean traditional instruments, this is really nation-less or country-less music.
right! I dont know why including traditional instruments automatically makes people think it's the country's traditional music. And while trot music does have more korean character than western style korean pop does, you are right it is more japanese enka than it is korean.
Do you really think that the Korean people would copy the Japanese people, especailly after the occupation!!!??? Korean Trot and Japanese Enka are distinctly different, no one copied anyone!!!
yeah trot is from enka.but enka's not Japanese traditional music anyway - enka was their version of western music..and who cares about enka anyway? Korean traditional music is minyo, pansori, samulnori and a whole bunch of other stuff..we have our own traditional shit besides "trot" which was actually forced upon the Koreans during the occupation i think..the Japanese forbid Koreans to enjoy their traditional music during occupation so we had to resort to "trot".."trot's" not even a korean word
But "enka" music isnt technically traditional Japanese music anyway - its a Japanese version of western music - created during the time when Japan was first getting exposure to Western music - its a style derived from their emulation of Western music...then it was introduced to Korea during the occupation as "trot" but then trot kinda developed into something else too...
But the Second song is MOST DEFINITELY a korean traditional song (not Trot) sung in the gyongi minyo style i think
second song is not japanese style but real korean folk song.

Trot is influenced by Enka during the Japanese annexation. Enka and Trot are similar but a bit different.
