I see Mike is excellent at motorcycling, which is an understatement. Though I'm not into racing, I heard about him recently from a friend because him and I share a rare interest totally unrelated. I won't say what it is as to not embarrass him. But my friend says he's as devoted to the subject as I am (love for a certain animal). Anyone know how I can contact him?
one thing i don't understand at all about FMX at the moment is that if you go over and do a jump with a single backflip in it - i.e. just a straight backflip over a jump, no variations etc - its considered the same as a dead sailer. HOW!?!?!?!?! its still a f-n backflip, how can they not consider it a trick anymore, just because people are doing heel-clicker backflips and dead body backflips
@millsathn yeah i can appreciate that and have no problem with that, it keeps the sport fresh. i just don't see why riders are penalised by just pulling a single straight backflip. to me that's pushing more people out of the sport. how are people meant to start out with the basics in fmx if in their first contest they have to do kiss of death backflips
i remember that year. he came in and just completely amazed the heck out of everyone landing them everytime. and then less than 2 years later it was obsolete
i met him today at the san francisco supercross & i just about shit myself when i shook his hand haha, hes a sick dude, and he ate my pretzels, i also met cowboy kenny whos also a cool guy to talk to, i have mad respect for the godfather! long live the metz!!!!
yea bro i was there when he did this. i remembver it was right before is started 5th grade and i was telling all my friends, it was so amazing that whole week was, wish the games would come back to philly
haha that was amazing in 2002 when xgames was in Philadelphia haha me and my aunt were screamin n i was 7 yrs old lmao what a memory btw if any1 knows the song in the background of the commentary it would be nice if you could tell me
I always wonder like --- how far can people take it? Surely there's got to be a limit to how many cool tricks you can do and how far you ca n push it. Or maybe extreme sports will just die out after a while.
Even if two people do the same amount of tricks the same way in the same order there is still a lot to be judged beyond that. For example how precisely they did it, how well the landing went and the flare or style shown throughout the trick. Those are probably the key things that will separate the best of the best in the coming years. I can't see it really dying out since nobody can ever be perfect, as long as there are people that strive for perfection, it will last.
was this the first time the backflip was ever thrown at x? i saw this live and i remember how insane that was, and after the barrier was broken, everyone worked a backflip into their tricks, and now its standard.
and im not saying things like this dont still happen but back then stuff like this happend all the time and now your lucky to see one or two things like this a year
how can you say that? travis throws down a double back, tonight hes gonna throw down a 360 backflip and people are now going for front flips..i mean once you hit the peak its hard to do different stuff with the bike, but people are still pushing the limits.
oh of course, i mean i agree that without people doing this stuff we wouldnt have what we have now..but i still think the xgames are great cause we see people build upon this stuff..people dont really just do basic stuff anymore
@suzukiracer99 and no just a backflip but backflip indy / backflip no hands and other crazy tricks with backflip, they make backflip to look so easy today but that happend with any sport.
i was there when this happend, it was amazing the croud was going nuts and everyone was stunned, great day, wish Xgames coulc come back to philly. i also saw stephen murrays double flip in BMX dirt
i'm just waiting for the triple backflip haha
