Christ created a religion. He organized it with a structure (apostles, prophets, the seventy, bishops, deacons, etc). It is all in the Bible. However, after the apostles and many generations of original Christians were martyred, man made many changes to what Christ had originally organized. That is why there are so many divisions today— because of man. However, there is a such thing as pure Christianity in the form of a religion.

As I said, I do not believe in "sola scriptura". I trust my life on God. My life is guided by a spiritual relationship with Him. Ethics are important to learn, and treating one another with respect and consideration are paramount and have nothing whatsoever to do with morals or god. People who believe simply have fear, or it is learned behavior from parents, for whom it was fear-based. Most people who believe in god simply do so because it's what they learned when they were growing up--and for no other reason. The idea of a god or gods is dopey.

I'm not religious. at all. But without religion people might not have come to america. Without religion there would've been no cruades, or holy wars. The towers would still be standing, like samuriguy said. But without religion, lots of people would not feel compelled to do right by the world. If there's no reason to fear a disciplinary or punishing force, why abide by any sort of ethics? so yeah, keep faith personal and morality social. No reason to abolish faith or anything.

The 10 commandments are a good guidline to living in a functional society. Leviticus is not. I think that if everyone abided by the same set of ethics, we would be much more tolerant. Christ created a religion. He organized it with a structure (apostles, prophets, the seventy, bishops, deacons, etc). It is all in the Bible. However, after the apostles and many generations of original Christians were martyred, man made many changes to what Christ had originally organized. That is why there are so many divisions today— because of man. However, there is a such thing as pure Christianity in the form of a religion.

I cannot say that the Bible is perfect... as you say it was written by man. I will add that we do not have the original writings of the apostles and prophets. However, as the Bible also teaches, I do not rely upon Scripture alone as the source of my faith.

As I said, I do not believe in "sola scriptura". I trust my life on God. My life is guided by a spiritual relationship with Him. It is based not only on scripture but also on communication with God, through prayer and the Holy Spirit.

@Koensol I actually believe heaven is more than that. I don't believe I will spend endless days sitting on a cloud and playing a harp. I do believe it will be eternal happiness and joy. I believe life goes on beyond the grave. I won't try to convince you that I am right. This is something everyone must find out for themselves through a personal witness from God. I have had this witness and so there is nothing that you or any other man can convince me otherwise.
