this place is a bit of a time warp, static displays, the way it once was. The dummies used to be motor driven but after the 1970s they were deactivated. Seems someone has been 'painting England green' the way the Irish claim, every engine, every welder, every figurehead is daubed green no matter what color it was at first. But the interesting thing here is the big budget given this place, a bit like Red Bay in Canada! :)
No, she's not crying, she's actually happy. She is my wife now. This was a clip from our trip in Sumbawa (Indonesia) in Dec. 2002, when we were still courting. In 2003 we got married. This clip is one part of the series of our trip to Sumbawa, which was very memorable. I added the song because I thought it fit well with the surroundings (so, this is not Ireland!).
Love this song. My eyes well up whenever I hear it. I have been living in Vancouver for 10 years now but Atlantic salt is still running through my veins. Thanks for posting it and Caitlyn, tell Con he still has "the touch".
I love these guys. I grew up listening to them. my mom played their music for me when I was in diapers and I continue to listen to them now. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs.
i believe this is a version recorded by the band Irish Coffee....they and another band(The Descendants)lost a few members and later formed the Irish Descendants i think. D'arcy Broderick is singin the vocals on this one..he wrote it too i think....good stuff!
Con is my cousin also - his great-grandfather was my grandfather also - I'm from New Jersey and visit Newfoundland every year in the summer. Con has been writing and putting on fantastic plays.
where in newfoundland? im a baymen myself my mothers a townie though i visit every year or 2 and when i drink the accent flies out of my mouth right quick b'ys
Caitlyn, if that's your daddy singing, please tell him that I think he has a wonderful voice and it is a beautiful song. Anyway I have a weakness for Irish songs, so I am biased I'm afraid.

Good imagery, and very thematic, too. It may not be Newfoundland, but the work, and, I'm sure, the emotions are much the same.
