I can't get into polishing and bluing any AK,,,it's a work horse gun and obsessing over shit like surface rust and scratches defeats the real purpose of an AK.

I let my WASR and Norinco slide around in the back of my PU truck and clean them with WD40 because it's one tough gun.

The main reason I like 9mm is the cost of ammo. I find myself at the range a lot more with my 9mm, then my .40 or .45's. Being that you brought up swapping barrels, just an FYI; If you purchase a S&W M&P 40.......you can swap barrel and magazines and make it a 9mm. The 9mm barrel fits and functions flawlessly.

@theARMORYchannel terms of caliber for pistol. I think .45 ACP is the best in terms of defense. I would recommend a 9mm over a .45 only if you weren't comfortable with the .45 or if you just wanted a range gun. I have a 1911, that thing is a freaking tack hammer (as you probably know) I have yet to shoot a handgun that shoots better then the 1911 and I've shot a lot of different models.

Due to the high cost of .45 I am interested in buying an inexpesive 9mm for the range, any advice on that?

Just watched the rest of the video. Getting a .357 Sig barrel for that Elite is a cool idea, but DON"T get rid of the original .40 S&W barrel. Keep both barrels. You'll always be able to swap them out whenever you feel like it, and the gun will retain its full value if you keep all the original parts.

Plus, if you got rid of the original barrel, I think Fire1777 would "pay you a visit." LOL!

Another Option if you want to look at other calibers and still stick with Sig is to look at the SigP250. You can completely change out barrels and frames for different calibers and sizes from sub-compact to full size.

looks just like my old Norinco, except I have the stupid thumbhole stock. I think I paid $180 for it in the 80's. I didn't realize that the metal cleaning rod might affix somehow to the gun. I will have to look at it to see if it has a hole for it.

I did that with my p229 barrel but I kept my 40 barrel, 357 is cool and effective but 40 is cheaper by like $10 a box where I live. I don't know if the prices are the same in Pennsylvania as they are in Oklahoma, but if they are then you might hang on to that 40 barrel at least for going to the range.

Keep the .40 barrel....357sig is a great round...but if your recoil sensitive...you might find it to be alittle uncomfortable. Not to mention avalibility and price.
