  • black thought is the next rakim

  • and it weighs a ton

  • web

  • ????

  • the first few minutes are "web" from the tipping point.

  • @BigDo How can you post Web, and not know what the name of the song is?

  • @Great0ne1 If WEB was the only song he did in this post I would of, but seeing as how it was not, I did not..

  • @BigDo Ok well you could've said Web and Boom

  • Black thought is the best mc to bless the mic.

  • Thought is top 5 all time fasho

  • waaaaaaoooooa this is really a freestyle? even if its written this is dope black tought: microphone god.

  • yeah fuck freestyles by weezy and kanye and all those guys. black thought is three times as talented as both of them

  • Erebody who love the Roots know this is not a freestyle (last bars is Rakim) but also know that Black Thought has a sick freestyle. Its so funny for people to talk about JayZ, Kanye, 50, Weezy when they consider the best emcees. They ain't even in the league of Black Thought.

Who could contend with Black Thought?

    Common?

    Murs?

    MF Doom?

    Ghostface?

    Immortal Technique?

  • I think you're being to literal with the word 'freestyle' I titled it that because Thought was doing rhymes from different rappers like Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap and as you mentioned Rakim.. As I think on it tho perhaps I should of titled it The Roots Flowin' Live or something like that. But yeah Thought is the man..

  • Guilty as charged. The Roots have been doing classic quotes for years. Flowing just doesn't sound right to me. I feel like this is really a DJ thing --running down history musically. Blends as in Beats and Blends. I see what yo mean though. . . Peace and Unity especially on the cultural front!

  • they're all thoughts ryhmes, he mimics kane and g rap's styles, in the 2nd and 3rd verses, respectively, of boom! which is the second song in this clip, he then goes on to actually freestyle over the beat from 'i aint no joke' one of rakims classics, the first song is web

the roots occasionally perform classic songs live to pay tribute to those artists and also to educate the masses on the artists who paved the way for them and others, they dont quote

black thought is the best mc ever period

  • word up

  • big pun, just listen to super lyrical featuring black thought. plus pun would murder any mc on your wee list.

  • Black Thought is siiiiiiiiick!!

  • i just had a few eargasms..

    my goodness

  • This dude is too much. Illest MC, coupled with the greatest live band. Unbelievable

  • HOLY SHIT THATS FUCKIN' DOPE

  • not a freestyle. great clip though that whole dvds awesome, especially the tracks they did w mobb deep.

  • whats the DVD called?

  • thank you.hes a legend.I respect him.he is hip hop.but this is not a freestyle.......stupid host

  • This is the best performance of " Web" and "Boom!" I've seen live.

  • shit that is awesome...Black Thought= Best MC around.

  • Thought's a true MC.

    Rappers write their lyrics.

MC's recite their lyrics. No need for a pen or a pad.

    They

  • jesus...

  • LOL

  • this is the dopest shit i ever heard?

  • thats the beat from "Wrath of Kane"

  • "Set It Off"

  • yup that too.. lol
