2. In china, bowing has the same symbolism as in Japan.
3. In Arabia, people generally only bow to royalty, because they are not as sensitive to small differences in social rank as the Japanese and Chinese are.

Please explain why the bow matters. The US is so far up the Saudis' ass because of our dependence on oil. Some of you seem to think that if the Pres. hadn't bowed, then we would be on some sort of equal footing, but just look at the facts: Saudi Arabia has a HORRIBLE human rights record. They even still have royalty, and a cavernous gap between the haves and have-nots in their society. And the US enables that system EVERY TIME WE FILL OUR TANKS. The "bow" means less than zero. Move on.
