  • Too bad some of the guys at the Nuremberg Trials didn't get to make Youtube Interview videos like this... I wonder how similiar they might sound?

    "I'm a lot of things right...I'm a boyfriend...a man... a Nazi...a freelance photographer...a citizen of the Third Reich...", etc...

If you are a police officer for the 99% and against shooting tear gas at protester's heads and such...you should be telling that to the other police officers...not some PR guy so I can hear your excuses.

  • You're just anti-human asshole! You are so dumb that you do the dirty work for the worst criminals the world has ever known, no excuses can be given for your actions, you are just an animal with very low IQ, which is the #1 pre-requist to be a police officer in the USA.

  • after listening to your blabla, tried at least cause you make no damn sense, you have no intelligence what's so ever to have a comprehensive dialogue, I couldn't follow your thoughts cause they are to dumbed down for me!

  • The elites are clever they try to set us up against one another. They know how to play on human subconscious. This is what they spent billions of dollars on reaserch on, to divide and conquer. But if we wake up, and rise up above our animal instincts, we have a chance to unite. People, Police, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. We are all people and if we act responsibly toward one another there will be no violence. Than the true self serving manipulating cowards will scatter like cockroaches.

  • He's full of shit. Watch his twitches, facial movements. Acid reflux kicks in a few times as well. Fucking liar. He's a PIG! Violence against the innocent, it's alright if you're on the payroll. Then he uses the "black man card". He's more worried about his job, then he is change. He labels occupy protesters as people who can just take time off their job, with no worries, but he can't!?!?! Fuck you asshole! These people are making a bigger sacrifice then you ever will in your fucking life!

  • fuck you pig

  • So cops can't be frustrated with the way government is being run? They can't have the same opinions of the problems in the country, and not fulfill their oath to protect their city. Occupy is losing credibility by alienating people that may agree with them.

  • lose the badge and you'll be part of the 99%. before that day, you're just a tool of the ruling class. please stop trying to justify your infiltration.

  • not feelin it,copper

  • look if this guy is on the clock while being in plan cloths then yes it is wrong get back in uniform damn what is wrong with ppl

  • THIS IS WHY ALL THESE STUPID PEOPLE WHO "HATE" THE POLICE SHOULD STOP AND TAKE A GOOD LOOK AND RECONSIDER BEFORE THEY USE THEM AS SOMEONE TO BLAME... BECAUSE ITS GETTING REALLY OLD AND PATHETIC NOW :/ well done this cop!

  • I applaud him for realizing the government corruption effects cops just as much as everyday citizens but he still swore to uphold our constitutional rights. "just doing a job" isn't good enough. He needs to speak out directly when his fellow officers infringe on these rights.

  • There's something dishonest about this man

  • Your works speak for you a tree is known by its fruits.Read the constitution and bill of rights uphold that law

  • Oh im clear on your stance. But what I dont get is why you post it on this video. There WAS NO POLICE INJUSTICE here. And thats my problem with you. Youre applying your attitude where it isnt needed.

  • cops make me wanna puke.

  • @ll1lI ignorant comment

  • @tubevideoguy762 You speak for one - make no mistake there.

I have no issue with cops catching serious offenders, and that means violent crimes and other serious stuff.

When I see the passing parade of bullshit here on YT and elsewhere of American police harassing, beating, gassing, and needlesly arresting innocent protesters and others - I'm not impressed - in fact it makes me wanna puke.

Don't make a bet on who is ignorant here Einstein - you might lose it all.

  • This is what, I've been saying. If we are peaceful and nonviolent then we really don't have to worry about police "infiltrators". Most videos I see have people encouraging the cops and saying they are a part of the 99% I don't see why if they take their uniform off and join us we wouldn't be accepting of them.

  • 16,291 views, and less than 200 likes and dislikes combined. i think i'm not the only one who is unsure of this.

  • i'd like to believe this guy, but i live on LAPD turf. kinda hard to trust the police here.

  • He says he identifies with the 99% but - he isn't PART of the 99% because he is part of the heavy handed police tactics. Infiltrating to point out "troublemakers" is still infiltrating.

He acts polite, and seems to be less heavy handed, but by "just doing his job" he is part of the problem, and by pretending to be part of the movement, he is worse. Just wear your uniform while down there. you are not supporting the movement, you are selling it out.

  • Um, there are all kinds of people like this Sherlock. It's now even COMING OUT THE CLOSET, remember See Something? Say Something?

I identify with the filthy lucre you are getting. Now go eat some fried chicken asshole.

  • If you want to live in a bad spy novel, keep stirring up these silly intrigues. "Anyone could be an infiltrator." Oooooooh.

Like Zizek said, "Don't fall in love with yourselves."

  • wtf is he talking about...he contradicts himself so many times....he tries to make it seem like he was there because he might be a photographer....he's not a citizen of oakland...than changes everything.....idk...im black and i know when a ni**a is lying.

  • Another brain wash

  • Stupid house nigger. Enjoy your FEMA camp.

  • He'll be on our side soon #OfficersForOccupy

  • does his chair squeaking piss anyone else off?? It's really grating on me. maybe i'm just suffering from pent up anger and recessive economic fear. Better go get me some OWS action.

  • You people crack me up. So much hatred and close-minded intolerance - kneejerk distrust and blanket condemnation of everyone with money or power, and anyone who doesn't share your ideology. Basically, anyone who disagrees with you is corrupt, greedy, evil, lying, or just plain stupid? You love making generalizations about others, but bitch and whine when it's done to YOU. Search "NO.1 IDIOT OF THE OCCUPY WALL STREET PROTESTS" on Youtube... Does this guy represent all of you?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice words but he didn’t ever try to deny that he was told to infiltrate by this superiors. Until he does that he is an infiltrator.

  • He's a lying sack of crap! He's no better than the rest of his buddies in the sty!

  • So the guy understands what the problems are, and he agrees that there has been unreasonable force used against protesters, but he's fine with that coz he's getting paid?

    Wow, my fuc*ing hero.

And these are the people given weapons - they're weak-minded, confused, incoherent and just doing their job.

Newsflash Fred - the security forces in Egypt, Libya, Syria and Iran are all just doing their jobs. The thing they all have in common is a complete lack of spine.

  • not exclusively a CHUMP!!! YOURE THE IDIOT STOP TREATIN US LIKE WE'RE IDIOTS FOOL!!

  • This lying deceitful piece of crap. He sits there for a couple minutes and says he agrees with the movement and hes not an infiltrator, then he says "Im there to point out agitators" which IS INFILTRATION YOU INBRED PIECE OF GARBAGE.

  • Comment removed

  • nobody believes a word out of any cops mouth these days. They are all bought and sold by the corporations as a criminal gang. Fuck every idiot that puts out these plainly scripted idiotic retractions.

  • Damage control in full force. He never says he is not an infiltrator... because he IS an infiltraitor. "I' m a part of the 99%", (that is working with the power that beats and maims peaceful protesters ) People now days hide behind the "99%" just because you are a pert of the "99%" doesn't mean that you can't inflict terrible harm on others. He is exactly like the Black Bloc... only he gets paid better. 6 figures I would bet... thats a big chunk of OUR money from the"99%".

  • Lets try this; And this is based on whether or not you all can be honest (which you wont because you know the real answer proves you wrong). Camping in public parks has been illegal for MANY YEARS. If homeless people(not protesting anything) just began camping in one, defecating and using drugs in it as well, wouldn't the public (you all) expect the police to remove them!? The honest answer is yes. But because OGAWA is a protest, what you're doing is asking the police to overlook the law.

  • @shmoopify Unjust laws will not be broken - they'll be smashed.

So will any LEO that tries to enforce tyranny.

    Game on tough guy.

  • @ll1lI - since when do you decide a law is unjust? Is it when it impedes your plans?

  • @shmoopify Any wise person can discern injustice immediately.

I have been down this road a hundred times and it's now tedious.

As far as my plans go - they are to live in a free society and to deal extremely harshly with anyone that tries to take my freedoms.

'Impede' that and I will go to war with you m8.

Unlike most potatohead adolescents here, I am not young, and I have no criminal record.

Police will (a) do their jobs or they will (b) lose their jobs.

    There is no option (c)

    Clear?

  • cop out ^

  • I'm full of sadness and despair; I can't sustain my energy in the face of comments like I'm reading here. I'm working very hard to reclaim the moral high ground and make a stand for free speech, but what's the point if it doesn't include the 100%? People who watch this video and see an infiltrator have got some growing up to do!

  • Comment removed

  • The haters commenting did not listen to a word that man said. You haters here might as well go work for the Koch Brothers themselves they want you arguing amongst yourselves - the 99%. Deflects away from the 1% robbing you blind. They successfully destroyed public education and public safety is next then go VA Health for the vets then goes your 401Ks and savings. Keep blaming only this guy and not look at the big picture. You are turning into your own enemy point fingers at this dude

  • i'd like to see the interview unedited...that being said...

he never denies being an "infiltrator" and actually confirms that he is one with statements of "objective", all the while appealing to the connotation of what an "infiltrator" is and trying to distance himself from that connotation by reinforcing his role as citizen who identifies with the 99% even though he "still has a JOB to do".

after all that lip service the last few seconds reveal his true feelings about the protesters IMHO.

  • @TheUnDecider you sir are a genius. more people need to think like you.

  • Why did he say he was there to point out the agitators? Aren't they all agitators to the cops? He got caught and now he needs to choose which side he's on.

  • Your actions as a police officer ultimately mean to the people, and to the reality of the situation, that you are standing in defense of those who usurp the Bill of Rights and the efforts of all the people who have fought for it, against the established order of this so called "democracy." When Howard Zinn spoke about his books being accounts of the those who fight back against the ethical inadequacies of gov. + authority he was not speaking about people like you, but about those like Nat Turner

  • You cannot have it both ways when you are a police officer, just as you cannot be anti war and be a soldier in war. Your actions often overrule your words, and in this case your actions as a police officer are overruling your fictitious statements about standing with "we the people." You are following orders that contradict any part of you that sides with the protesters, which makes you not just a police officer, but a security officer for the oligarchs and barons.

  • @trapstar918420 Some of the most anti-war people I've met have been soldiers.

  • @nicocxiv yes I would agree with you on the soldiers anti-war setiments, but once signed up they have to serve the time they sign up for or are considered treasonous and jailed, where as a cop can choose a different profession. Now anyone signing up for the armed forces now knowing what is going on in the world around him I have no sympathy for. We All make choices and should be held accountable for them.

  • If this person is at all in agreement with these protests, he would not be continuing his job as a police enforcer. This is nothing but damage control aimed at the gullible. You cannot stand with those who perpetrate violent crimes under the auspice of authority and still proclaim you're 99%. You cannot use the Nuremburg defence of "I was following order." BS. If you obey these orders, you have no right to claim to be on "the people's" side. You are NOT part of us as long as you choose OPD.

  • This is the same cop who assaulted a KGO cameraman a couple of years ago and subsequently cost his city hundreds of thousands of dollars in a case settlement. He says that he loves his town, but then he beats up its journalists, propagates this weird notion that Oakland cops still regularly commit police brutality, and effectively takes away tons of money that could have gone to help improve his own community. Google the SF Chronicle article about it.

  • There will be trolls/provocateurs in any group and it doesn't matter. All you need to do is to agree on a basic level of ethics and shut down anyone stepping over this line.

Everyone has a duty to disobey unjust orders or calls to action. Everyone must learn to be skeptical and not to blindly trust anyone - the nice woman on the tv, the man in the uniform, your friend who's had too much to drink, etc.

Check your ethics with a stranger - if you agree - congrats, you've made your 1st government.

  • Pigs that violate the people's freedom of speech and right to assemble are not apart of the 99%!

Pigs that shoot tear gas, rubber bullets and sand bags at demonstrators are not apart of the 99%!

Secret pigs that walk around gathering operational information for their establishment enforcers while giving off the impression they are apart if the 99% are not apart of the 99%!

Like almost all pigs, they will lie through their teeth when given the chance to do so... in costume or not. FTP!!

  • this is just another scripted public relations stunt to make an busted provocateur look like he's the 99%. Fucking traitor to me.

  • My first hand account of the Black Bloc fiasco during Occupy Oakland strike, as well as the pro-violence flyer in circulation.

by Kallisti Partridge on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 12:31am

One of the two very suspicious men I noticed earlier was one of the main window smashers

  • This is the same cop that assaulted a KGO-TV photographer in 2009. And now he is Mr. Niceguy 99 Percent when he is not under cover?

  • grey is what his brain is, he only went to the movement to bust people, he is a snake, a cockroach, let him burn with the tear gas they shot at the innocent people

  • @theresistance45 please go drown yourself in a lake.

  • @NavySeale510 typical response from one that is supposed to serve and protect,, why do you want to see anyone that does not agree with you dead? This makes no sense, and it does not support the constitution that I am assuming you took an oath to protect,, that is if you really are a navy seale or maybe you are just pretending,, anyways I will not go drown myself in a lake like you have requested, instead I will continue to fight corruption and tyranny like you should be doing too

  • @theresistance45 Typical Response? Thats a pretty ignorant statement to make there bud, just as ignorant as your whole argument is against this cop and the academy.

  • @NavySeale510 sure, since I am pretty sure you have to be in denial otherwise it would be pretty hard to collect your paycheck,, if you acknowledged all the criminal activity of the police and military forces and had to realize that you were a part of all if it, you might feel guilty, but instead you live in fantasy land where the cops and military are all angles protecting the innocent, you can make the choice to acknowledge the good and the bad,, the choice is all yours buddy

  • @NavySeale510 and before you get all upset about the typos,, sorry for the misspellings

  • first thing they teach in the academy is to lie, he is a liar and always will be, he sucks, he should be held responsible, he suckssss, I hate this shit,

  • @theresistance45 how do you know that?

  • He spoke his truth. I hope for more officers like him.

  • If anything, the Occupy movement needs to embrace police participation, and even encourage them to break ranks.

If the cops are all protesting, then who's going to come shut down the protest?

    No one.

I bet this guy is getting even more shit for this from his coworkers at his station house, because a lot of other cops are apolitical racist assholes.

I commend this Brother for coming out and supporting #OccupyOakland

  • @ZacharyXAE truth.

  • are you all saying that a cop can't stand up for what you believe?

if you all want to use the term 99% then you better respect the fact that cops have grievances too.

Cops have a hard job, they want to protect their community, and politicians use them to protect the powers that be.

If we had more cops like this, then peaceful protesters probably wouldn't be teargassed and beaten in the streets.

  • @ZacharyXAE It is not that we are not in support of the cops against the brutality that happens, but if they are using the excuse that it is "just there job" or "I am just following orders", then no I do not support them, they have a choice and should be accountable for it. Just as the old saying goes, if everyone else is jumping from a bridge to there death, does that mean you should jump aswell? Come on people where has common sense and logic gone?

  • IMO > IF he wants to be heard and counted among the 99% then he needs to Choose which side he is on. Teargassing those he Claims to be on the same side as Terminates Any credibility he may have had.

    CHOOSE a side.

  • @shmoopify You may not be a coward > but you can't deny that you are a hypocrate.

Protesting one day and teargassing the protestors the next = hypocrite.

    Tell me "how" I'm wrong.

  • @alindartist Choose a side? Are you an idiot? The problem with this country is that everyone wants to divide everyone up into opposing sides. I guarantee you that every cop in the country (besides the higher up administrators) is among the 99%. You are an idiot.

  • @alindartist If he's telling the truth then you could also say that he is infiltrating the police. we need more of 'us' within 'their' ranks. We need cops as cops on our side we dont want the good ones to 'choose a side' leave the force and so leave just the psycopathic bullies as the only ones in uniform. A lot of police are just regular people who are hopefully wrestling with their conciences over what is and has been done in their name.

  • @charteres55 I agree with you completely, we do need them with us and they are part of the 99%, but again I go back to ethical choices. They can choose to disobey there superiors when told to attack inocent, peaceful, unarmed protestors and deal with the consiquences that superiors hand down and then voice what happens to them through videos, blogs, alternative media ect..when these orders are disobeyed.

  • Thus giving rise in support against these unjust ways the powers that be manipulate the people who are there to protect and serve, not to beat and jail innocent, unarmed people.

  • @alindartist - hey, he gets ordered to gas people, he has to do his job- he's gotta provide for him and his.

Above all- you don't take meat off another man's plate.

He can support and do the job.

  • @alindartist There is no "choose a side' on this. It's not all us and them. That's a lazy way of thinking about things. Life isn't that simple. There's no question that what has happened here in Oakland is wrong and that change is needed. We need to get money/special interests out of our government and turn it back to the people to whom it belongs, to return this country to true democracy we can be proud of..based on what I saw here, he does too. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

  • @alindartist

Cops are part of the 99%

They too need to get the guts to stand up

  • IM so tired of you anti police people You make accusations based on whatever news stories, youtube videos and articles you see. It's your attitude which turns certain cops against the citizens they are sworn to protect! And to tell you the truth I can almost understand why. I suggest you all go sign up and do the job since you all know so much as to how it should be done. But you won't. You'll keep talking crap from the safety of your home and continue to rely on the police to keep streets safe

  • @shmoopify I would love to sign up for to do there job, that is if the job was based on ethics, logic and common sense, but it is not. It is based on "chain of command", the few deciding what the masses should do and sorry but that I do not respect or would I ever be a part of.

  • @familyunitedalliance By the way alot of people here are not just sitting in the safety of there homes, they are activists and protestors standing up against these injustices of the few, getting tear gassed, rubber bulleted, flash banged, and beat with clubs, so be careful not to lump us as a certain group of people just as you say we are lumping the police.

  • @shmoopify Truth.

  • DUDE GOT CAUGHT! IT'S ALL OVER HIS FACE!

  • I wish I could like this straight to the front page.

  • Thank You for speaking out.

  • is he engaging with the Occupiers or just riding around them on his bike taking pictures like he talks about? if ordered to forcibly evict the Occupiers, what would he do?

  • he doesn't seem to understand the history of COINTELPRO and other programs since then where cops regularly infiltrate movements to bring them down. he may be for the occupation, but that doesn't change history and why people are leery of him.

  • @planb247 Exactly.

  • While everyone pays attention to this one there are probably 10 others you're not copwatching :(

He may have been the distraction they PLANTED

Just a thought, I know how the system works, sadly

  • You want to impress us that you're not in infiltrator? You want to show us that you're sincere? Give us the name of the officer that shot Scott Olsen in the head.

You do that, so we can see that officer prosecuted for attempted murder, and we'll believe you.

  • All well and good, but the litmus test is when the "them" un-instigatingly attack the "us", which side will you choose? (Hint: neutrality is not an option!)

  • @Giud3cca

But cops are continually told to WATCH OUT for the civilians , that it is US against them...look at THEIR record. Recommend watching LARGEST STREET GANG IN AMERICA.

  • to those criticizing this video as bogus, i beg to differ. if OPD is as bad as it appears, just imagine what grief officer shavies will now endure from his colleagues and commanders. he publicly criticized the actions of his own force. even mild dissent is not well tolerated by paramilitary organizations. there is no turning back.

like it or not, officer shavies will discover how right he is about being part of the 99%. now the question is how he will play out that realization.

  • this guy doesn't get it...he's trying to rationalize his illogical and contradicting statements. You can't be FOR the movement/protests, yet fucking pledge allegiance to the same corrupt force (govt, cops) who are Unconstitutionally and Unethically assaulting and oppressing the brave protesters who today now finally stand up to this ill-fated government and broken capitalism. The Weak Will Gather Strength In Numbers. The roof is on fire...

  • This joke needs to start arresting the criminals who have been assaulting the protesters.

  • @venusbrain oops this was a dislike

  • Fred Shavies your number 1 job is to keep the oath you swore to the constitution, so when you are ordered to beat unarmed people for exercising their right to free speech you must refuse that order.

  • anybody standing behind that shield and shooting teargas at unarmed protestors is a damn coward. you are betraying the 99. if you want to stand up and make a difference ---- YOU BE THE COP who sways the other cops into dropping their shields and joining us. Until you AT LEAST TRY --- we ( the 99) will all ways see you as a traitor. you could be a hero. or stay snark weasel number 1. your choice.

  • what an idiot..... does he really not get it? Dude.. if you are on the job, on assignment when you are being sent into the movement, you are a traitor! You are an infiltrator.. when you take off the badge and come join then you are the 99%.. what a fucken idiot! he really has no idea does he?

  • he is a pure asshole ....

  • Comment removed

  • Do you and guys like, know, who you are and what you like to be (police officer/boyfriend/weasel ...). Trying to be many things just showing your attempt to be part of 99% but way that you are expressing doesn't appears well. Your showing looks like a weasel who tried ad got caught - as George Carlin said "... you can lie and "that's OK - but if you get caught is a completely different story".

  • The comments in the local paper, reno, nevada were negative about the 99 percent movement calling them hippies, oh no, winos, etc.but I went down and talked to them and they all seemed like standup Americans standing up for what is right.

  • @DangerousDan77777 guess what? they were wearing winter clothing, not as pretty as wall street or politicians who lie and steal and murder.

  • A COP REPENTANT AFTER BEING CAUGHT ON VIDEO, OMG STOP THE PRESSES..../s

  • as much as I want to believe this guy...I don't. I'm sorry, his loyalties cannot be to the 99% nor to his boss at Oakland PD nor to his mom all at the same time. I'm proud of him for taking the time to memorize what OWS is about, but I'm not buying his story or his lip service.

  • We need more Police like him to be more vocal about their stance on the movement so that protesters know that not all the cops are itching to shoot teargas in their face. I think it would go a long way in quelling some of the hostility and fear surrounding the way things are going. Ease tensions and so on.

  • Well done, Officer Fred. I wish there were more men like you who know how to stand by their principles. I'm impressed. I'm glad you came forward to speak for yourself. I'm surprised and pleased that you weren't there to cause trouble. You were there to stand with the people.

  • I should take a moment to thank Jacobzladder for reintroducing this video from Vimeo (vimeo dot com/31830746) into the conversation here on YouTube. I arranged and produced the piece as a personal project because I thought it would make an interesting story. Feel free to direct questions/comments to me (twitter @j_sight) or on the Vimeo page. And, by all means, keep the conversation going here!

  • I know Fred, Fred is a great dude, there is nothing outrageous about being a Oakland citizen & spending time in downtown when he is not in uniform. Is he not allowed to go out in public when he's not on duty? It's no secret that he is an officer, and the video of him being "ousted" is actually really funny to me personally. He actually is an est. freelance photographer, 1 of Oakland's finest eyes. He's been doing photography all over Oakland well before any occupy. Check 3680photography(dot)com

  • Officer Shavies is a powerful, compelling spokesman for the Occupy movement. He could change the world far more by continuing to share his eloquence, then he ever could as a peace officer.

  • This is an incredible opportunity to build a bridge with the police!

  • @djmermaid I agree, it was a brave police officer who busted a corrupt police chief. We need police, we need them on our side :)

  • @Giud3cca I wasn't denying anything.....I would love for ALL of THEM to join... I just don't believe one person can serve two sides at the same time....How can you protest by day and than follow orders by night to oppress the people you were just standing in solidarity with?? I was taught that peoples actions speak louder than words..And in case you haven't realized, it has always been "us vs. them".....We are the 99% and on the other end is the 1%.....Or.....We the people vs. the government....

  • @KIMLAPHAM That is a gross oversimplification. The reason this man can wear a uniform during the day and then join the occupy movement while he's off duty is because the true movement is nonviolent. The real essence of these occupations is a legitimate protest. It's only the poorly-behaved fringe that goes about breaking windows, vandalizing property. In the exact same way, many police officers are legitimately working to maintain peace and safety. A true cop has nothing against a true protester

  • @PotentialRoadkil Really?? Have you not watched all the live police raids on camps? from ustream or livestream...Or all the videos of unprovoked police brutality? This movement is about bringing morals and empathy back to our society.....If you truly believe in this movement, how do you ignore what is morally wrong and raid these camps of peaceful people...The problem is too many ppl WILL NOT stand up and say NO, I am NOT doing this because it is WRONG.....

  • @KIMLAPHAM I live in lower Manhattan and have been to the occupy protests here. What I see is police brutality singled out of many well-meaning officers the same way vandals and looters are singled out of many polite and behaved protesters. My point isn't that he shouldn't stand up for protesters who are being beat. My point is that if the protest is being carried out properly, then what does it matter whether a cop comes to join them or not? He wants to preserve order and yet shows solidarity.

  • @PotentialRoadkil

Forgive me but how does one carry out a protest "properly"? Should one first ask for permission and remember to raise their hand before speaking?

  • @dinan5iver Don't get snarky when forcing yourself into a conversation. You know, as well as I do, that when a protest is carried out "properly," private property isn't damaged, stores aren't looted, and public spaces are left as they were found. The kind of social etiquette you learn in 1st grade. It's a self-reflecting statement if you don't know what I'm talking about.

  • @PotentialRoadkil

What an odd response, however, given how tame and obedient Americans have become (at least until now) I shouldn't be all that surprised. A revolutionary movement doesn't say 'thank you' and 'please may I?'. The abolition of slavery, the suffragette movement, civil rights movement, and the rights of workers to collectively bargain were tumultuous and violent affairs. That's because, as Frederick Douglass noted nearly 150 years ago: power concedes nothing without demand.

  • @dinan5iver The civil rights movement and all the work MLK dedicated his life to was a nonviolent movement. Groups like the Black Panther Party undermined their progress by allowing their opponents to portray them as a mob and to assign very easy character assassination. I'm not against self-defense nor legitimate resistance. But when I see people like the Black Bloc Anarchists in Oakland throwing chairs through the windows of local businesses it's really quite disgusting.

  • to me this seems like how propaganda works both ways. On the other hand this "interview" appears heavily produced

  • well, since you've been outed, you have to say something, don't you? LOL clever way of disguising your surveillance by calling yourself a photographer. Ha ha Ha.

  • Finally - A Police Officer NOT afraid to speak his Mind...

  • Hey Fred why dont you make history by infiltrating the Oakland police dept on behalf of the 99% and expose police brutality and intentional misconduct, then resign from the force on moral grounds, you could have been the Rosa Parks of the 21st century..when i watch this video you seem like the last person to be on their side, maybe when your shot in the face with a rubber bullet by your buddies you'll realize you were on the wrong side all along..

  • Officer Fred Shavies, I just can not see how you can be OPD or any PD for that matter and be a supporter of the Occupy Movement....You are the 99% yes, But you follow orders from our government to oppress us....You hold a position of leadership, You took an oath to serve and protect the people...Please stand up and help lead the people to freedom and out of repression....My heart bleeds seeing the 99% divided....

  • Have we had any show of solidarity from officers?. Would the tear gas be launched with PD employees in the crowd? Why are the off duty officers not protecting the crowd? ID yourselves and make a statement.from your human side. We don't know who sent the agitators. PD, Gov, military, corporations? Can't trust the system but it would be great if someone caught and identified them.

  • It should e widely known that historically the police, FBI, CIA have infiltrated movements (peaceful movements mainly) to try and destroy them. So when the people show this police officer in civilian clothes at the occupy movements and call it out, that's what we need to do. This is not a personal thing with this Police, its with the tactics of his institution.

  • Man when I get to hearing this guy's analysis at about 4:55 mins I see and hear my dad practically and tiny little tears start gushing out both my eyes. My dad wasn't even a cop, but he ran recreation b-ball and stuff for our city, and was full on community minded, etc., to the day he died.

  • It all sounds like he is trying to cover his backside.

  • Wow, Thanks for opening up Fred, You're quite a contrast.

  • i dont believe this bs

  • you are a black man... being used. total scapegoat for whats really going on. guess they didn't tell you

  • I think he makes a good point at the end.

  • He chooses to be an cop and to participate in police brutality. 'Nough said.

  • His words: "I’m a police officer. I’m part of the 99 percent. [...] In the ’60s when people would protest, would gather in order to bring about change, right? Those protests were nonviolent they were peaceful assemblies. They were broken up with dogs, hoses, sticks. [...] It’s about time your generation stood up for something. It’s about time young people are in the streets. [...] Ya’ll don’t need to throw gas canisters into a group of people occupying an intersection." @charleymarie1

  • @MzFlux I am a bay area resident. I saw your video and it made me respect you. The only thing I would offer is that I think you should have gone in the crowd with your badge on so that people knew you were feeling an affinity with all of us 99%. It is a little disingenuous when you dress in plain clothes. You ARE still a policeman and I think if you want people to trust and welcome you , be up front. Honesty is the best policy. We have enough real provacateurs and violent inciters.

  • @charleymarie1 Maybe he doesn't have the luxury of more than one job opportunity. Many people must choose between employment and unemployment, not policeman or lumberjack.

Police brutality is a huge problem, there's no question. I wish more police would step down when their orders go against their morals. But they risk being fired, or worse, for insubordination. Theirs is a tough choice.

  • @RugtimXII "But they risk being fired, or worse, for insubordination. Theirs is a tough choice."

So they can get fired for refusing to use violence on innocent people, but if they willingly lie on a police report or use unnecessary violence on a suspect then at the worst they get paid time off? Besides, what is "worse than getting fired"? That's what they have a union for. If you can't fire them for corruption what makes you think they can be fired for disobeying unlawful orders?

  • @charleymarie1 I hope you educate yourself one day.

  • There is no gray area. Its black or it is white. Good or bad. Light or dark. No GRAY! Put on your police uniform and stand with the 99%, if there is a gray area.

  • Give the guy a fucking break. He's probably still "undercover," but who cares. He deserves an award for his hilarious "hip hop is bigger than government" shirt.

  • So cops arn't allowed to take part in the movement?! Ignorant jack asses. I've got your back copper, do what you want, fuck what people think. I'm against occupy more and more every day.

  • Remember, police are legally allowed to LIE to you. If you believe a word that he is saying then you are naive. Police are the agitators, so how is he in plain clothes to try and stop the agitators. So lets hear the other two plain clothes cops that we with him opinions.
