Love the music and is very well acted... The actress who plays Bertha is perfect, the thing is Rochester should be holding Jane's hand on the way to the hall from the church. That annoys me they omitted that!!
He looks older than 40. I used to love this film, but after the BBC adaptation -- and the magnificent Toby Stephens -- I just can't warm up to this version anymore.
In the book version Bertha and Mr. Rochester have this wrestling combat, which I thought they were going to show instead of him saying stuff like: "this is my wife and she is mad...blah blah..." I thought they rushed the explaination of Mr. Rochester's chaarcter.
After seeing the 2006 version, this pales in comparison. Bertha Mason was far more creepy in the newer one, I think. But this was the first JE movie I ever saw. It holds a special place for me. :)
this scene is the only scene in the movie that really matters where he shows any emotion whatsoever...he is definately my least favourite Mr. R., but as long as its mr. r, i love him! but still, he didnt do a very good job in this, did he?
That's Haddon Hall! The place where Jane Eyre 2006 was filmed! How strange it was used twice. I went there on Sunday, it's one of my favourite places.
I liked the actress that played Jane in this, but thought that William Hurt was terribly miscast.I like him otherwise, but found that this was the most insipid version of JE that I had seen out of all of them.
Timothy Dalton topped my choice for Edward Rochester until Toby Stephens put him in 2nd place.
Jeremy Kyle could never top this

To me, this is not a good version. Charlotte is OK, but Hurt has been completely miscast.

Same thing for me! And Charlotte (and her Dad) is my hero. Her voice must be the most poetic female voice in the world! -when she speaks French, too.
As Cosette in Les Misérables she also stuns me. CHARLOTTE!
