If a congressman does not submit funding requests for his district the money is simply spent elsewhere. To eliminate all earmarks would be to further consolidate power in the already dominant executive branch & not save a penny. Also, designating how money is spent provides a level of transparency and accountability over taxpayer dollars that we don’t have with general funds. Ron Paul spoke on the House floor about the true nature of earmarks & how we should know how our money is being spent.
A lot of Ron Paul supporters are very dishonest, because a lot of them are sycophants who don't care about the truth and only care about making their favorite politician look good, so Bill'O may be right on this one.

Regulation reform sure, but don't dismantle the EPA or the country will end up a polluted pile of sludge in due course. If a congressman does not submit funding requests for his district the money is simply spent elsewhere. To eliminate all earmarks would be to further consolidate power in the already dominant executive branch & not save a penny. Also, designating how money is spent provides a level of transparency and accountability over taxpayer dollars that we don’t have with general funds. Ron Paul spoke on the House floor about the true nature of earmarks & how we should know how our money is being spent.

Regulation reform sure, but don't dismantle the EPA or the country will end up a polluted pile of sludge in due course.
