  • This is one of my top 5 walks! Crossed it a number of times. But no matter how many times or how self assured you feel you can never take your mind off your footing to admire the view. Great care must be taken and Ive never felt skilled enough to tackle it in adverse weather conditions nor to do it in reverse. But all that said once I get to the top I always have a natural high which urges me to repeat it again.

  • Sharp Edge feels pretty exposed if you're on the crest. If you slipped you'd take a big tumble, people have died on it. I agree that it feels more exposed than Cribby, and definitely more than striding edge.

  • I've done a few ridges. What seems easy to some is not so easy to others. Alot depends on weather conditions too, so for instance Sharp Edge on a winters day when its icy would be much more of a challenge than Crib Goch on a warm summers day. Adrenaline is another thing, sometimes you have to wind yourself back a bit as well so as not to do anything to dangerous. Enyoy the mountains for what they are and if its a nice day take your time and enjoy the scenery :o)

  • That looked like real good fun.

  • Sharp Edge may be classed as an easy scramble, but if you walk along the crest it feels very exposed. It feels more exposed than striding edge or crib goch, although crib goch is longer.

  • I did this. The drop into the tarn is huge i scrambled up too quickly and almost went over the side of it. I thought my heart was in my mouth.

  • What amazes me is when you see the fell runners, and they just peg it across the top in no time!! They're a different breed, honestly......

  • Heading up there on the 22nd of this month, looks like a good scramble, great tune too!

  • @ianupton Knob !!

  • @ianupton condescending bitch.

  • just done sharp edge for the first time and although it was in a snow storm and high winds which was quite rough i reckon in dry conditions it wouldnt be so tough, but a great scramble anyway

  • Aw...it looks like you had fun but - some of these comments are not helpful for those who are less experienced. People do die on there y'know. It's a dangerous place if you're not kitted out properly or don't know what you're doing...just be safe peeps! :-))

  • Sharp edge, is easy (only a level one scramble), except in my case whereupon in snowmelt conditions someone decided to crawl along the long flat slab on the northern face. Unfortunately being a large person they let go and slid at geat velocity towards myself, fortunately not knocking me off!

  • Hi - my Dad died in an accident on Sharps Edge on 30/12/2007 - your comment is really offensive and upsetting to my family - please can you remove it? No offence to you personally but if you had been through trauma we have you would have taken more time and thought before posting such a comment - thanks.

  • well done,, well said

  • you make that look so hard

  • What's the most hairy: Sharp Edge or Crib Goch?

  • Grib Goch, no question!

  • There's only one way to find out - FIGHT!

I took a party of 8 up Blencathra - all but me chickened out at Sharp Edge and waited for me at the tarn. It was what you mught call mass hysteria!

  • what are you playing at?
