Well, a few reasons, leading from smallest to biggest:

"Soon We shall cast Terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers (anyone not muslim). - The Koran.

2): How many Christians and Jews have tied bombs to themselves and blown up other people in marketplaces? Compare that number to the number of Islamic bombings.

3): How many imams have publicly denounced terrorism by muslims?  The one that did, got blown up - by muslims.

Islam like its ugly, smelly, abrahamic cousins is a pretty fucked up ideology. It adds not even a speck of worthy knowledge to the grand database of human knowledge. I am an islamaphobe find its teachings appalling. But even I think its discriminatory to ban them from establishing a gathering place near the former twin towers. It's gotten worse because there are no high profile people in the west (i.e. in the US) that are denouncing this type of emotional climate against Islamic faith for fear of getting slammed by the media.
