I like your readings, but sometime am not so big a fan of the writing... diseased voice? tip to all writers, adding grotesque sounding words doesn't work on subjects they make no sense applied to. Diseased voice, for example, does nothing for the story, it does nothing to paint the scene. Is a diseased voice throaty?raspy?croaking? I don't mean to pick on this one, but I keep hearing things like that and it annoys me. You're not writing a paper, you don't need as many words as possible. Clarity.

@montblanc1 What annoyed me was "had overtook" rather than "had overtaken." Some of these writers have great imaginations and creepy, effective imagery, but it would be made so much better if they proofread their work.
