  • Who else is hungry :(

  • Wow, she thinks eggs are unhealthy. I guess blondes really are dumb.

  • This is terrible...yea lets take these natural, whole foods out of your home and replace them with heavily processed soy products. That is not the path to health, people. Look at a soy bean and then look at these fake meat pieces. Can you even imagine the processing required to turn one into the other? Disgusting. Eat whole foods, it's that simple.

  • Comment removed

  • Can you come to my home!

  • We have been brainwashed by the meat and dairy industries into believing we cannot lead healthy lives without these foods. It simply isn't true. People need to go into a vegan diet with knowledge and understanding. If done properly, there is no reason anyone cannot lead a healthy life on a vegan diet. Humans were designed to eat a mainly plant based diet. We are only meant to eat meat when plants are not readily available.

  • @chickenbuttguesswhat Humans are designed to consume a plant based diet only. Just compare our physiology with that of carnivores and omnivores and the facts are right there! :o) Animals are sacred, we should care about them, not kill and exploit them don't you think?

  • @profborat Wrong. Do your homework. Our digestive systems and teeth are that of omnivores. Animals like cows are meant to consume plants only and you can tell because they have the four stomachs required to digest plant material. We evolved over millions of years to eat meat, and only started eating grains very very recently in our history. Humans are smaller and weaker since we adopted the reliance on grains.

  • one egg cannot have that much colesterol! it is healthy! of course if you eat 9 eggs a day, you will most likely die, but not from one. i heard that having two eggs for breakfast is really healthy.

  • @desertrose88 It can and it does

  • what she said about eggs is such bullshit. Eggs are low in saturated fat which is what causes the cholesterol in your body. Dietary cholesterol is different. I'm disappointed Ellen didn't check this lady's 'facts'

  • @jv8999

She was comparing the dietary cholesterol of the two, and her comparison was correct.

Feel free to complain that she didn't take the time to mention saturated fat but don't call her accurate statement bullshit.

  • @tulref14302 what I meant by 'bullshit' was that her statement was misleading, not inaccurate- so thats my mistake. A lot of people don't know that there's a difference btw dietary cholesterol and cholesterol formed in your body (I didn't know that until recently). So even though what she said was technically right, the context she presents it in is dishonest- i.e. a LOT of people would infer that she means eggs contribute as much to your cholesterol levels and health as a double whopper

  • @jv8999

I think she was just trying to point out that eggs have far more dietary cholesterol than most people think they do.

But, yeah, I also think she would've been better off not comparing an egg to the pile of death that is a Double Whopper With Cheese.

  • 1:46 the dog is so adorable :">

  • I understand. but it is natural for people to eat animals our teeth are formed not like a carnivores not like a herbivores but like a omnivores

  • @evanll1997

Sorry to bust your myth but our teeth do not indicate that we are intended to eat an omnivorous diet.

Meat and dairy are both unnatural for humans and we are at our healthiest without them.

Please try not to spread misinformation.

As a side note, shouldn't you be roaming naked through the forest if you're so set on doing what's natural?

  • @evanll1997 WRONG!!! that was just an attn getter - LOL. if you type 'best speech you will ever hear Gary Yourofsky' into YT search he can explain it better than i can. i cannot recommend highly enough the entire speech and q&a, but if you dont have time for it all go to 26:50 and watch for a few mins.

  • @TheMrTaquito

It's vegan and I agree it's healthy and good

  • is it healthy for growing kids to be vegan?!

  • @bonesimps

    Yes, very healthy.

The healthiest diets for humans of all ages are vegan diets.

Any honest nutritionist who has actually done their homework will tell you this.

  • @bonesimps i don't think so.... being vegan for kids is not healthy. i heard that a kid was taken from a family because he was malnourished or something. parents thought they were being healthy by being vegan, but put the kids life in danger.

  • @desertrose88 One parent's actions doesn't reflect all vegan parents.

Please know that some parents use this as an excuse in court cases where their children are malnourished to provide doubt and add sympathy.

Many parents feed their kids too much meat, eggs and dairy and they become obese which leads to diabetes and other DEADLY diseases. Now, this doesn't mean that ALL parents who feed their child meat, dairy and eggs are unhealthy.. why should we think about vegans this way?

  • @desertrose88 One parent's actions doesn't reflect all vegan parents.

Please know that some parents use this as an excuse in court cases where their children are malnourished to provide doubt and add sympathy.

  • I wanna be began too

  • OH MY GOSH what breed of dog is that at 1:46-1:47 leaning on Kathy? SOOOO CUTE

  • @lindabubbles St. Bernard

  • @lindabubbles You've never seen a St. Bernard? You should watch Beethoven to get your fix =]

  • she really looks skinny

  • YOU WANT TO EAT AND LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE QUIT DRIVING DOWN THE STRET TO THE STORE YOU STUPID AMERICANS, AND DONT BUY FOOD EVERY MONTH INSTEAD EVERY WEEK, THAT WAY YOU CAN ELIMINATE ALL THE PRESERVATIVES AND WAXY CHEESE. LOOK AT EUROPE, HEALTHY AND THEIR NOT VEGANS !!!!!!!!!

  • @ShLo16

    1. It's pretty silly to lump all of the people of all European countries together and call them healthy.

It would make more sense to say that most of the people in most of the European countries are healthier than most Americans.

    2. There are many, many vegans in Europe and those vegans are almost guaranteed to be healthier than the non-vegans.

  • Weight doesn't always drop for people immediately, definitely not after 1 week. If you're going to go vegan, you're either going to do it for health (not all animal products are unhealthy for you but eating a higher ratio of plant products is just healthier all around) or animal rights, both of which are legitimate reasons. But facts are facts -- it's not necessarily a weight thing.

  • @thepurpz

Well, this isn't really a vegan diet matter; it's a healthy diet matter.

This lady could eat nothing but sugar and Crisco for a week and it would technically be a vegan diet but it certainly won't lead to any fat loss.

On the same note, if she were to eat nothing but low fat vegetables for a week, she would almost certainly lose fat.

I don't really blame Freston though.

It's easy to find yourself interchanging the words vegan and healthy because vegan diets are almost always healthy.

  • 2:17 - 2:42 what song is that? :))

  • Haha the dog is funny and big

  • I lived in a town of cattle ranchers so I know what it's like to be poorly regarded for not eating meat.

I never let it get to me though.

Throughout history there have been matters in which those in the right were also in the minority.

This is just another one of those matters.

Dropping meat from your diet does a great deal of good for you, the animals and the world in general.

It's something worth going against the grain for.

  • @thebossestboss

I haven't eaten any for a while so I'm not certain, but I think the primary component is usually soy protein or wheat protein, which is flavored with many of the same things that are used to flavor actual meat.

  • does anyone know what breed that large dog is?? I love them!

  • @Rockpopstar96 that is a Saint Bernard

  • i will never be a vegetarian or a vegan, i love meat and dairy products too much and in my country they consider you crazy if you are one, it's that rare LOL

  • @snezica26

    I know the feeling.

When you're raised eating certain flavorful foods, you develop and addiction to the flavor.

For people with good self discipline, this is only a problem for a short time after dropping animal products.

For people with poor self discipline, it can be harder to kick the addiction.

Fortunately, those flavors that we crave are primarily produced with fat, salt and other seasonings, so there has been excellent progress in replicating them.

  • @tulref14302 I still have no idea how to replicate the flavor of cheese though.........

  • @thepurpz

I don't know either. I haven't yet tried to replicate the flavor of cheese.

I just sit back like a lazy bum and let the vegan chefs and researchers do all the work.

At the rate that they're going, it won't be long until they match the flavors exactly.

Personally, I'm perfectly satisfied with the vegan cheeses that already exist but I'm still very much looking forward to flawless replacements.

  • I tried going vegetarian than slowly going vegan but since i was only 13 my parents wouldnt let me :(

  • why are there empty shots on their table..

  • Daddy likes beer, hilarious

  • @kokomoman

    Vegan food IS real food.

Vegan food is everything we already eat, minus the animal products; minus the cruelty and poison.

And the purpose of emulating animal products (assuming that's what you're talking about) is to provide replacements for people who were raised eating them, and to aid cooks who would like something to replace the animal ingredients in recipes which incorporate them.

Watch "Farm to Fridge" to see a large part of why people are willing to drop meat & dairy.

  • @tulref14302 i kinda agree with u on the meat thing, but i think that not eating dairys is totally wrong. in them u get tons of protiens. i think vegan ppl should eat them cuz ur not killing the animal ur just using something that comes from it without hurting it.

  • @TheRichGirl14 Wrong! Cows are forcefully impregnated, their calves taken away just so they can hook them up to a machine and suck all the milk out of them for us...all while they're grieving for their babies.

  • @TheRichGirl14

Yeah, I used to think the same thing.

I was a vegetarian for many years before I went vegan.

It turns out that we support tremendous cruelty when we eat dairy products as well.

Not to mention that cow's milk is not good for humans; especially the shit that comes from the factory farms.

Watch some videos that explain how unhealthy cow's milk is for humans and how much disgusting cruelty is involved in the modern dairy production process.

  • Vegans pretty much eat anything, just no animal products. And you can get all your nutrients. Just have to eat beans and seeds for protein. I've been vegan my whole life(I was born into a vegan family lol)anyways it's possible. Everybody going vegan would change a lot of problems. People like the guy from Old Spice are vegan.

  • @number1smiler i know, but vegans dont only eat vegetables and fruits, most people think that, but is not a raw diet.

  • there is a difference between the cholesterol in your food and the cholesterol in your blood. Eggs are perfectly healthy, don't compare it to a double whopper. Such a silly comparison to make.

Nothing wrong with being healthy and eating better, kudos, but you don't need to cut out eggs, meat, dairy, fish, etc. to be healthy.

  • @number1smiler there are many protein sources other than meat, orange juice (natual) has more calcium than milk, there is soya milk too. We can eat plants and meat, but our bodies have large instentines that is why we absorb saturated fat and high cholesterol, than a carnivore with small instentines. The problem is that people eat too much meat, and they still ask themselves why are they sick. By the way not all doctors say that being a vegan is unhealthy, many of them support it.

  • some ppl cant even afford normal food how could they afford special vegan food cause i really dont think that is going to be cheap

  • @seancool312

Every food which contains no animals products is a vegan food.

There is no special, expensive vegan food that you must purchase when you drop meat & dairy from your diet.

Of course, you will always be able to find special, expensive vegan foods, just as you will always be able find special, expensive non-vegan foods. That does not mean you are required to purchase those foods.

  • omg, that chef face, and the husband face looks kinda alike. :/

  • Ahh thank you so much!!! :)

  • lol do people know how expensive it is to be Vegan i would absolutely looove to do it but i definitly cant afford it

  • @AnnaSarahBanana

This is a myth perpetuated by the meat and dairy industries.

It is only expensive to be vegan if you buy expensive vegan foods, as is the case with non-vegan foods.

For the past decade that I have been vegan, my average food costs for a healthy and complete vegan diet have been below one dollar per day.

Properly research this matter and you will find that a healthy vegan diet does not need to be expensive.

  • Does anybody know the song being played at the end of this clip in the background?!

  • @neferrtari Good Life by OneRepublic.

  • I like the idea of this but I think they should have vegetarianized them for the day not veganized! No eggs, cheese or milk?! KMN

  • @FancynDainty that is a very good explanation. I myself am vegetarian (I may not be vegan, but at least I don't eat meat)

  • @FancynDainty God made animals to be eaten I don't understand when people eat horses and stuff other than normal meat such as cows, pigs, chickens! I think eating meat is fine, Of course thats just my opinion everybody has to deicide for themselves! btw I'm not trying to be hateful in anyway! :) Have a great day.

  • The whites of an egg have no cholersterol or saturated fat.

  • @Winstonsicle Ya what she said about one egg having the cholesterol of a steak with cheese is beyong bogus!

  • I've heard that children need meat for their brain to develop till 12 yrs... ajcn.org/content/48/3/822.short It is only possible by taking supplements of Riboflavin and Vitamin B12... I think that people eat an excess of meat, but don't know if being vegan is the way. Maybe just reducing meat and eggs, trying vegan diets some times a week, but not completely.

  • @gustavoarcanjo

It's true, I think. My friend tried being vegetarian as a kid ('cause her parents were) and she got incredibly sick. We are supposed to eat meat, there's something in it that helps with stuff - just like we're supposed to eat vegetables and such. I'm a vegetarian though, I throw up if I even think about trying to eat meat, but I hope I'll go back to the meat-side someday again, so I can be less tired and lead a normal life :)

  • @mizyki i became a vegan 6 months ago, since then i havent been sick, even though i used 2 get sick all the time. Maybe ur friend wasnt getting the right nutrition that a kid needs, that why we need too make a research before trying it. 4 what i know meat only gives you protein but you can get in from other sources. by the way i dont think u should go back 2 meat, i have more energy and i stoped feeling heavy, even though i run almost everyday. Maybe u just need some vitamins.

  • @katyga

I have to take SO many pills aday, and they can't find out why - but my doctors say that the reason I'm tired is probably 'cause I don't eat right -_- it's sad (I can literally go to sleep at 21 and sleep 'till 14-15/when I'm being wakened..)

But I want - when I get a boyfriend, and then get married, and then have children (well unless I die in a car accident or something) I want to be able to LIVE without spending SO many money on stuff to survive - I'll rather eat meat then o.o

  • @mizyki

Dropping meat doesn't automatically mean you are eating right.

Just like everyone else, vegetarian and non-vegetarian alike, you need to learn which nutrients you need and then you need to eat the foods that contain those nutrients.

It is *extremely* easy and inexpensive to get all of the nutrients you need from non-animal sources.

If you are unhealthy because you don't eat right, then start eating right.

And, no, adding meat back into your diet is *not* a step towards eating right.

  • @tulref14302

I do eat unhealthy xD no denying it. But I was happier when I ate meat :D and less angry in general. I think that's why,.

Sorry to break the image, as it might be inexpensive in some countries, I ALWAYS look for cheap good vegetarian food. It's the unhealthy stuff that's inexpensive :P at least in denmark, that's the way it works.

God why am I even talking to someone about this? I always regret commenting when people reply to my stuff. Too tired to reply -__-

  • i heard a nutritionist say that its important to have an egg a day...

  • i wish it showed to conversation with that chick after words, this is complete bull meat is a healthy part of your diet and thats that, why use alternatives when you don't get as much nutrients out of it as the real thing

  • I can see the point of turning vegan for animal rights, but if you seriously decide to undertake a vegan diet, then you have to be diligent that you're getting ENOUGH of the RIGHT nutrients. There are a lot of nutrients that are incredibly scarce in vegetables that are found naturally in animals, such as vitamin B12. Don't just do it without being smart about, as you'll put your body at serious risk. Be calculating!

  • But Meat is healthy it's a part of a healthy diet you need it in your life

  • I want that dog! So cute.

  • I tried being vegan for a month. Even did it with a help of a diatest. I felt like shit every day.

  • @betabite89

You weren't doing it correctly. For a lot of people, slowly weening themselves off of dairy if necessary to not feel deprived in the beginning of the process. You need to ensure that you are following a HEALTHY vegan diet in order to reap the benefits. Eating too many processed foods with not enough vegetables and legumes WILL make you feel worse because you're not getting the protein and vitamins you need.

  • OMG! The dooog is so cute!!! Look at 1:46 .Sorry for being off base here. But..the doooog <3

  • @agametedua agreed!

  • I love their dog ^_^

  • i was a vegan for 2 weeks. my body completely could not handle it.

  • @br0adwaybabe64 i was vegetarian and my body was so weak i fainted every single day! then someone told me that meat is very important and it has the vitamins that you can't find in some kinda soy piece of junk so its very important to eat meat and dairy! besides what would happen to all the animals such as cow's, pigs and chickens if everyone went vegan!

  • @KarinasPets Well what would happen is that the animals would get to live in their natural habitats and they wouldn't suffer. If everyone went vegan there wouldn't be any demand for meat or animal bi-products so there would not be any more animals bred for the purpose of being slaughtered. Tons of grain and water would be saved because it would no longer be going to the millions of animals that are constantly being produced for human consumption. Pollution would be reduced since slaughterhouses

  • @FancynDainty (continued) and the factories where animals are kept prior to being slaughtered are kept. it takes 4,000 liters of water to produce one steak, while it only takes 1,100 liters to grow a vegan enough food for a whole day. You can save more water by not eating 1 pound of beef than you can by giving up showers for an entire year.

  • Food is very personal choice. One should not make other feel bad abt it!!

Part of world I come from (50,596,992 people) is almost vegan except we eat milk products. we have our thousands of vegan recipes but it doesn't mean that we are super healthy people, heart trouble and diabetes are common prob. we faces too...so it should be abt eating healthy whether vegan or not...

  • @hhathoda

Any diet will be unhealthy if it doesn't involve healthy eating.

The intended message is that a healthy vegan diet is much healthier for humans than a diet which includes meat and dairy.

By the way, I'm very interested in these statistics you've presented for the 'part of the world you come from'.

Would you kindly provide us with the source of these statistics so that we can check their accuracy and learn more about them.

    Thank you

  • @tulref14302 How you presented vegan idea is better way I think..We approach it for same reason.

And we are from state named Gujarat in India. if you will Google Gujarat vegetarian you will find few source of what I am talking.even apart from Gujarat, in India many people are vegetarian.

  • @hhathoda

Choosing between an apple or a banana, or between low fat food and high fat food; these are personal choices.

Because eating meat directly supports the extreme pain and suffering of others, it is not simply a matter of personal choice.

This is why there is such a strong effort to bring an end to it, just as we have brought an end to many other things that are simply wrong.

  • @hhathoda If you can make someone feel bad about something there has to be SOMETHING in their own mind telling them it's "bad".

  • I am a vegetarian and I cannot wait to become a vegan!

  • Comment removed

  • Bon Appétit!!

  • Go VEGAN......\:D/

  • Eggs are perfectly fine in a balanced diet. A whopper has saturated fat, far worse for the levels of cholesterol in your blood than than the dietary cholesterol in eggs! Shame that Ellen is allowing the spread of false information.... vegan brainwashiiiing.

  • I like the "one egg is really bad for your cholesterol", when obviously it's all the junk food that is not good!! American are so amazingly dumb when it concerns food. Eggs are good for you health!!! But stop eating crisps and tacos!

  • @kardor1 exactly!!!!!

  • my god...i'm sick of this fake american attitude...

  • Her comment about eggs is kinda misleading.

  • DADDY LIKES BEER!

  • The body need meat to survive!

  • Wow. Look at all that processed food! Hmmm, I would rather eat fresh food along with lean chicken and fish than be vegan, if it is like that.

  • hmmmmm.... i love meat.... :D

  • Most of those vegan items are what I normally eat at my house xD

  • @kokomoman They're trying to emulate food to make the transition easier.

  • @kokomoman i think what matters is the taste and what it does to your body.

  • Kathy Freston is America's Gillian McKeith- she has no sound knowledge on what she is talking about and is not qualified to make the assertions that she does! It annoys me that people will watch this and think she actually knows what she is talking about!

  • There dogs are cute!

  • i wanna be a vegan for one week!
