After hearing about pit fall trick from a friend, I tried it numerous times and kept getting spammed by his fire attack. After watching this video, there's a detail that was left out in the description that I think will solve a lot of people's problems with getting this trick to work.
You have to pay attention to Discharge's arm. He usually holds it around his torso. Running to where the armor is gets him to pull his arm out and use it. If his arm isn't pulled out, he WILL NOT go over.
@EFYOUSEEKAYx you should build up your fire resistance and endurance, helps out a lot in this fight, high dexterity and vitality can help out cause you have more health to lose.
The gold-hemmed armor set has been nerfed, it's not nearly as useful as it used to be.For the record, you don't even have to fight the boss to get the armor, if you use a homeward bone as soon as you pick up the armor you'll warp right out of the boss fight.

For those who hv troubled running to the white gate. U guys can just stay at the safe spot shown on this video and wait for his hand attack. The moment he wants to attack u then jump to the right section and turn back coz his hands will stick on the wall. Then start slashing..Repeat that till u finish. Gud luck. i have a weird experience against this boss, the first time i killed him i just fought him "head on". i dodged his attacks and hit his "hand" with my blakcnight sword +5. it was so easy. i read many people find this boss is difficult, i just llol'ed. then i made a new char, face this boss again and died so many times. karma is a bitch xD
I don't understand.. at first playtrough i killed him very easy on some level 60.. remembering having light armors and just blocking his attacks and hitting back. Now on second playtrough I used homeward and came back later and now he's a crazy nochace superboss! don't know what hes been eating since last time ..
I find that Havel's armor is yet the best armor in the game. I have the full set on plus Havel's ring to increase my armor load. To equip his shield and to use effectivly increase strength to 50 and dexterity to about 20 or 25 your choice.
I haven't tried it yet, but I noticed you said that this the gold hemmed armor is the best in the game. So far I found that the stone armor in the forest area is by far the strongest... I got this armor pretty early on in the game also. the torso armor is like 91 or something
This isnt working for me... He goes about half way and then stops to cast fire. So I just did him the normal way and dodge roll right when fist coming down and it wont hit and if your lucky, you can roll between his tenticles when they land and he will just repeat that one move and never do his sweep attack.

Update: Many people have said that this will not be patched, it's purely intentionalso no it won't be patched , also if he just shoots at you, then you need to run all the back to where the armour is, and then sprint to the fog door, TRUST ME it works, many people have done it, and is virtually the easiest boss in the game (if you know what to do)

Well he kept shooting me to just man up take is attacks by shielding his fire blast so that it only does like 1/4 damage then attack the claw thing, heal when needed and repeat it took me like 5 of his attacks to kill him.

It still works guys. Here's the problem: If you fail, you need to go back to where you picked up the armor! THEN lure him back. And yes, you can use the 'shortcut' in the rocks. If you don't go back to the armor (you'll probably get hit once running to it- before you reach the 'secret' path) then all he'll do is shoot flames at you. But if you lure him back to the armor THEN sprint to the door? It works.

Man, I tried this method with four different characters now, it doesn't work for me. I just end up attack his arm since he just always stops and blast fire at me everytime. With the Black Night Shield, I can block almost all the damage from his fire attacks. I tried getting the armor and staying close to him till I got to the gate, and everytime, he stops in the same place. I've tried shooting him with arrows and melee attacks, nothing. I'd say just use the black knight shield and attack him.
In response to all people saying this doesn't work, you need to run to the armour (gold hemmed) and either get the armour, or shoot him and sprint like hell, he will hit you a few times but with your estus you should be able to live, run on the outside way, not the shortcut and hit the fog wall,then unload on his hand till he dies, like this comment so everybody can see this and stop saying it doesnt work, because it does as i did it just now as of now 16/01/2012
@Jaikerz32 Again, as Fatboiflex just said, he will NOT follow you all the way he stops at one point and refuses to go on and spams you with fire blast if you run any closer to the door until he kills you forcing you to either A) Move back up so he can stop or B) Die. Its safe to say, its fixed. 4th time doing it, same outcome.

@Jaikerz32 They patched the game so that if you shoot him, he will launch fire and not punch you nor follow you to the cliff. It deals a ton of damage, is largely unavoidable, and prevents him from falling for this trick. YOU MUST GET THE GOLD_HEMMED SET AND RUN. One punch should kill or mortally wound you at level 25 with this armor. I know from experience...
didn't work for me, BUT this little beastie had a nasty habit of trying to get me in my safe zone that you mentioned so i hid till he extended the tentacle then attacked with zweihander and hid again

I saw a German video of this boss and it was titled "Lavaström Daemon" WHY DON'T WE GET A COOL NAME?! Where the hell did "Ceaseless Discharge" come from?! I just thought that was a name for a song on the soundtrack!
@Legatofan4ever The reason it's called Ceaseless Discharge is probably beacuse he never ceases to attack you and you cannot block alot of his attacks.
@Naxus2 And the lava is emitted from him. Since it's a constant stream of lava from Ceaseless Discharge, its name is fitting (well, until you beat it).
@Legatofan4ever and besides Ceaseless Discharge being used to name something has more meaning than if something was plainly named "something" demon. Its unoriginal. Where as Ceaseless Discharge is more imposing as it's foreign to what one expects to be a name, and acctually original.
I tried this on NG+ and didn't work at fucking all. He just spams his long ranged attack (does ~800 dmg) and stops right at the ledge. Not once has he actually jumped like in this vid :'(
45 hours into the game? I completed it in less than 30, on my first playthrough too. I killed that boss in about 5 or 7 hours into the game. IGN employees how crap can you be? seriously?

@De4DLYV3NOM i didn't rush through it, I killed every enemy i came across. It just didn't take me long, i rarely died unlike most who die a lot in this game. Later when i made it to Ornstein and Smough it took me a long time. Everything else in the game i found quite easy, because of how they structured the advancement through the game. Personally I found Demon Soul's to be harder, that's probably why i could get through the game quite quickly.
I killed this guy the hard way. If you didn't finish this game back when it was released you're a scrub! I did it all and legit pre-nerf. YES I WANT A COOKIE DAMMIT!
Confirmed working. If he is spamming the fire attack at the fog gate, run all the way back to where the armor is (or was, depending on if you've picked it up already) and then high tail it back to the fog gate.
CONFIRMED - Dec 26th. If you've died fighting him before then he's gonna come after you as soon as you go through the fog gate. Use Pyromancy FLASH SWEAT if you have it to nullify his fire attack, and run to where the armour was. As soon as his arm comes out for melee, run back to the fog gate. Use Flash Sweat again on the way back. Stand against the fog gate and when he jumps at you, hit his arm for VICTORY!! Good luck!

Confirmed kill at 1.35 a.m. Disregard whoever is complaining that it doesn't , didn't , will not work for them.It took me about 6 tries to get him to follow me.I had already stolen the armour as well.Also I strongly believe it's a legit kill.Because the boss has some sort of "Noooooooo!" falling off the edge animation!

@Jaikerz32 They patched the game so that if you shoot him, he will launch fire and not punch you nor follow you to the cliff. It deals a ton of damage, is largely unavoidable, and prevents him from falling for this trick. YOU MUST GET THE GOLD_HEMMED SET AND RUN. One punch should kill or mortally wound you at level 25 with this armor. I know from experience...

didn't work for me, BUT this little beastie had a nasty habit of trying to get me in my safe zone that you mentioned so i hid till he extended the tentacle then attacked with zweihander and hid again

I saw a German video of this boss and it was titled "Lavaström Daemon" WHY DON'T WE GET A COOL NAME?! Where the hell did "Ceaseless Discharge" come from?! I just thought that was a name for a song on the soundtrack!

@Legatofan4ever The reason it's called Ceaseless Discharge is probably beacuse he never ceases to attack you and you cannot block alot of his attacks.

@Legatofan4ever and besides Ceaseless Discharge being used to name something has more meaning than if something was plainly named "something" demon. Its unoriginal. Where as Ceaseless Discharge is more imposing as it's foreign to what one expects to be a name, and acctually original.

Wrong, this DOESN'T work in 1.05. Once you get back to the start he just spams a fire attack from really far away.

I tried this on NG+ and didn't work at fucking all. He just spams his long ranged attack (does ~800 dmg) and stops right at the ledge. Not once has he actually jumped like in this vid :'(

45 hours into the game? I completed it in less than 30, on my first playthrough too. I killed that boss in about 5 or 7 hours into the game. IGN employees how crap can you be? seriously?

@BoltonBoro Why would you rush through an excellent game like this thought, I think your missing the point of rpgs, I'm at this point after 24 hours gameplay, and not because im rubbish but because im taking it slowly and im enjoying the game, You wont have got any where near the amount of fun I get from this game because you clearly just rushed through it.

@De4DLYV3NOM i didn't rush through it, I killed every enemy i came across. It just didn't take me long, i rarely died unlike most who die a lot in this game. Later when i made it to Ornstein and Smough it took me a long time. Everything else in the game i found quite easy, because of how they structured the advancement through the game. Personally I found Demon Soul's to be harder, that's probably why i could get through the game quite quickly.

Confirmed working. If he is spamming the fire attack at the fog gate, run all the way back to where the armor is (or was, depending on if you've picked it up already) and then high tail it back to the fog gate.

CONFIRMED - Dec 26th. If you've died fighting him before then he's gonna come after you as soon as you go through the fog gate. Use Pyromancy FLASH SWEAT if you have it to nullify his fire attack, and run to where the armour was. As soon as his arm comes out for melee, run back to the fog gate. Use Flash Sweat again on the way back. Stand against the fog gate and when he jumps at you, hit his arm for VICTORY!! Good luck!

22 Dec 2012. This tactic works. Confirmed kill at 1.35 a.m. Disregard whoever is complaining that it doesn't , didn't , will not work for them.It took me about 6 tries to get him to follow me.I had already stolen the armour as well.Also I strongly believe it's a legit kill.Because the boss has some sort of "Noooooooo!" falling off the edge animation!

um just stay in the safe spot and bate his attacks move out of the way of its claw then hit the claw rinse repeat. now you wont feel like a cheater
