  • i was there

  • Maybe Detroit needs to lose in 1st round more often. After 1994 loss to Sharks, they won 2 Cups and went to another Final over the next 4 seasons. After 2001 loss to Kings, they won Cup the next season. After 2006 loss to Oilers, they won a Cup and went to another Final over the next 3 seasons. After the 2003 loss to Anaheim, they probably would have won another Cup in 2005 if the season was not cancelled because of the strike-lockout.

  • I still think if we didn't get screwed over in Game Three against Colorado, that team could've won the entire thing. Potvin was out of his mind in Games 5 and 6...and that sixth game should've been the clincher. Oh well, this was a great memory...and it was a long time coming. Didn't think it would be 10 years and counting for another series win though.

  • I was 13; still brings shivers down my spine every time I watch it.

  • Amazing series. I will never forget this.

  • And Chris Osgood, Larry Murphy, Pat Verbeek, Doug Brown, Martin Lapointe and Slava Kozlov were never seen in Hockeytown again. Except for Osgood, he came back seven years later. But the rest were never seen again.

  • Osgood is No Good. He is the worst goalie of all time! Detroit Sucks!

  • @videos500011 He was the main reason the Wings won in '08. Crosby couldn't do shit against Osgood.

  • Im an oilers fan but i have to say la could have made it to the cup they were one game from beating colorado and they probably could have beat st.louis they were a great team this year

  • @manchezzzzy the ray borque play in game 2 screwed la

  • @manchezzzzy but they didn't

  • This was a while ago and I'm a Vancouver fan, but this is one of the most memorable series I've ever seen, especially game 4.

  • As a Leaf fan, I have to admit this was a hell of a series.

  • i'm sorry the canucks beat these past playoffs... they have a bright future but are missing a couple of pieces up front

  • Kings nearly beat the Avs too! They went 7! If they had gotten by... We'd have a western champ (Kings or Blues) who havent won a stanley cup despite joining in 67

  • @NessMencesal ahh what could've been...

  • i remember this game well...brings a tear to my eye

  • lol what the fuck is wrong with detroit, the either win the cup or lose to a 7th or 8th seed in the first round

  • i would like to see LA kings the Cup for once they will in time i hope

  • lol Bob was so happy!

  • Deadmarsh walking. I won some money on this game in Vegas.

  • And just to think the Kings almost came back from a 3 games to 1 game deficit over the might, all-star Av's.

  • @shivakrishnarama Yeah...that's what some a-hole Canuck fan said to me in 1993 too.

  • Laker Games aren't as loud as Kings game were back then. I kind of hope they beat Vancouver in the first round even though I'm a Blackhawks fan.

  • @NebraskaFan77 a Blackhawks fan, were coming for you in the second round too. Hoe! So don't chicken out and lose to Nashville.

  • I was in row 1 in section 320 for this game. Bought a single ticket through Ticketmaster on the day of the game. Couldn't believe my luck. NEVER have I heard Staples louder.

As good as this moment was, let's hope we get to replace this as the best post-93 Kings playoff moment!

    GO KINGS!!!

  • Reconraptor ur just jealous cuz they have more Stanley cups

  • should of been a goal its not Lucs fault!!

  • I was at this game with a buddy - we lost our voices for a week or so after - loudest crowd I've ever heard in LA period. go kings

  • The Redwings are so gay

  • As a non-King fan, that really gets me pumped.

Probably the best team LA has had since 1993.

  • What a great moment...

I think we'll have many more like these in the next few years with the team we have now.

    GO KINGS GO

  • As an Avs fan, even I say Robitaille intentionally swept the leg. Good no goal call.

  • It's funny that I'm getting thumbs down for saying that I agree with "no goal" call on Robitaille's kick when I also stated that I absolutely loathe the Red Wings. I was rooting hard for the Kings in this game, and I'm glad that they won, but the refs made the right call on that one play.

  • Hey LA Kings fans, you ready for your ass whuppin' by our Vancouver

Canucks ? It's gonna be some straight up West Coast vs West Coast violence son, too bad LA is a sissy town now!! Uhhhhhhh !

  • @shivakrishnarama Did you have fun posting this over and over, idiot?

  • @shivakrishnarama gay guy

  • @RetepAdam yea i was alittle kid and went to this game so i thought it was retarded at the time but looking at it from a more grown up perspective yea he did kick it in, it doesnt matter they won that game anyway and robatile is alwayse gonna be my favorite kings player even though he retired :) go kings!

  • I was there too... I agree, it was the loudest day in Staples Center history...

At the time, I had thought that game four was the loudest that Staples could ever get... boy was I wrong lol.

The whole crowd stayed and cheered, GO KINGS GO, for about ten mins after the game was over...

  • @saxmanjames7 i remember that :)

  • I was AT this game. I still have never heard the inside of Staples Center as loud as it was that night. We really need some more playoff wins so we don't have to be like the Ducks fans and talk about how great it was back then. ;-)

    GO KINGS!!

  • ducks are sucky now but in last playoffs they were good!!!!

  • What a moment. Still makes me a little misty hearing Bob's voice crack from the emotion of the moment. Too bad we weren't able to stick it to Blake in the next round. Almost, but not quite.

  • Hey guys, take it from a Canadian boy. You're going to have an awful good team real soon, if you don't already. The Smyth pickup was a smart one, and you've got some nice young defenseman and good forwards that are just coming into their own.

The Kings are very close to being where they need to be.

  • i will never forget that ot moment!!!! this is last time kings were in playoffs

  • Comment removed

  • Sweet goal by Adam Deadmarsh to eliminate the Detroit Red Wings.

  • Phenomenal Kings moment, especially when they had the LAPD line as their first line.

  • Was that "I Love L.A." playing after the goal?

  • @RetepAdam They play that song after every LA Kings goal. :D

  • People would start caring again if the Kings started winning. And the Kings are about to start winning again. Things are looking up in Los Angeles.

  • Couple notes:

    1. This was Larry Murphy's last NHL game- considering Detroit won the Cup a year later, I was very surprised he didn't join the others.

    2. Osgood wouldn't return to Detroit until after the lockout.

  • Los Angeles loves it's hockey team. Since when do you have to live in a shitty and cold part of the world to care about hockey? Us Kings fans are just as loyal to our team as any other fans in the sport. All the L.A. haters can choke on my fatty. KINGS, LAKERS, DODGERS, GOD'S TEAMS.

  • Agreed.

And that coming from a loyal Kings fan since 1975 originally from L.A. (Northridge/Sepulveda area, when Rogie Vachon was our netminder and Marcel Dionne and his ever-so lethal Triple Crown Line were playing for us), but now living in Port Townsend, Washington, but I STILL flying the flag of the (now) Purple And Black Attack high and with honor,

I too, think that they can get back to the postseason so I can grow a playoff beard hopefully all the way until June!!!

    GO KINGS GO!!

  • I was referring to NebraskaFan77 on that last one...

  • The reason why the staples center doesn't care about hockey is because LA is in California... duh!! you guys never see snow down there eh?! stop trying to make southern teams into something they're not!! It's not like in Canada or Minnesota where they live and breath hockey. so do me a favor yah American... pay attention to football and quit thinking you know jack about hockey!!

  • Look for Kopitar, Smyth, Brown, Johnson and Scuderi to take this team back to the playoffs this year...maybe an upset in the first round similar to this???

  • And Damn Staples Center only gets that crazy now a days for Laker games.

  • This was also Osgood's last game with Detroit until 2005.

  • one of the most disappointing losses in red wings history, that loss enitiled Owner Mike Ilitch to make signifigant changes bringing in Hasek, Hull, Luc, Freddie, and calling up Datsuyk that culminated with the cup the following year, Thank You L.A. for waking us up that night.

  • sometimes shit games helps

  • The kings were so lucky to have really great announcers, bob and jim

  • the kings actually made the playoffs??

  • This was a really good series. And yeah. The Kings had like a mini-miracle comeback. I think they were down 4 and scored 5 straight to win Game 3.

Crazy as it may sound, they could and should have beaten Colorado.

  • I think it sounds crazy because it is. The Kings were lucky to be in that series with the Avs that year.

  • No they weren't. They had a pretty good team. The Avs didn't exactly blow them out of the water. I was a researcher for that series. So I would know. The better team won but it was close.

  • Oh it was close, but if not for Potvin stealing a couple 1-0 wins by playing out of his mind, it's over a lot quicker. The Avs had so much more talent that year.

  • lol dont argue with him, he is named kovalev (kovy27) and have like heart in the same sentence, which is weird

  • yup eliminated the defending stanley cup champions, and went 7 with the eventual stanley cup champs.

  • the defending cup champs where the New jersey devils

  • damn your right lol, was still a good victory againts a legendary franchise.

  • no they were down 3-0 and came back to score 3 with about 6 minutes left in the game to send it and win it in overtime.

  • the miniature version of "The Miracle on Manchester" (LA vs Edmonton) is this one, "The Frenzy on Figueroa" (LA vs Detroit).

  • i thought they called it the stunner at staples

  • Well, I know initially it was called "The Frenzy on Figueroa" it might be called "stunner at Staples" now

  • so amazing.

  • i have a feeling Columbus is gonna be the kings of 01 and upset the wings in the first round

  • good call....

  • that worked out well haha jk jk ya Columbus is a very good team

  • what seed were the kings that year?

  • seventh

  • I'm a Montreal fan but i've got to admit that I watched this series and it was one of the best that i've seen for a long time!

  • w.e devils are winning the cup this year

  • no.

  • HELL NO

  • your already out?

  • The kings are getting better, hopefully they can make the playoffs this season. All their games have been close games so thats a good sign. Couple points off the playoffs, but I think they can do it

  • we are getting closer to those days again with our young talent, it'll be interesting to see what we can do with free agency, we could use a impact player, and finally, we have solid goaltending

  • I'm from finland, very far away from LA, but if I should choose 1 team from NHL to favorite, it would be LA kings and I'm sure about that the kings will be in play offs in this season, and 1st round will be kings vs san jose sharks, semi finals will be against detroit redwings, konference finals against chicago blackhawks and stanley cup finals will be against washington capitals, that's my guess

  • keep up the hope! the kings have a bright future and just need a few big free agent signings to put them over the hump. Your predictions may come true in the next few seasons...

  • I woukd love to c the kings in the playoffs again.

  • so would the rest of LA :(, well young team, look to the future

  • They get a veteran winger, 2nd line centerman Andy McDonald? on July 1st and anopther veteran d-man and they'll get closer to the playoffs for sure.

  • Its to bad kings suck now

  • I really hate uneducated fans. This guy obviously has never heard the term "re-building."

  • they dont suck they still a nhl team they got sum great young players they will be awsome giv them a few years they be back in the playoffs

  • *sniff* i miss deader

  • I was at this game! One of the greatest Kings games ever! I was way up in the nosebleed section but it was still an incredible experience. Go Kings Go!

  • I was at this game and I will never forget it!

  • At least the Kings are doing better than my Sens but nothing compared to my second boys in Chicago. Doughty is gonna be fuckin`awesome. get a better goalie keep Ersberg as a backup, get a veteran defenseman and veteran winger and sell a few more tickets and they`re ready to go. Also Hawks are gonna fuck up the wings in the Winter Classic. Let`s Go Hawks.

  • Well, fellow Kings fans, the Kings are certainly getting better that's for sure. I feel like very soon, we'll be on our way to the top of the NHL very soon. Stamkos who? Haha, Doughty. Great great pick by Bardo.

  • S.O.B, lol... this still gives me goose bumps... I Love Da' Kings... Go Kings!!!!...

  • This was a good playoff series. Best part is the Kings knocked off the Red Wings! Go Kings Go! One of my friends dads was at the game they came back down 3-0 and beat them in overtime.

  • Being a Wings fan that was a painful experience

  • I like the battles of california, but the ducks owe their existence to bruce mcnall hoodwinking disney and the nhl.

  • As a Sens fan I like Bob Miller's "Deadmarsh ties the game".

  • Suck It Ducks Fans!! The only reason your ticket prices go up are from Boy Scouts field trips and OC Moms on cell phones!!SUCK IT

  • Since the 2000-01 season, the Kings have outdrawn the Ducks 6 out of 7 years. The only time that the Ducks have outdrawn the Kings since 2000-01 was last year..the year AFTER they won the cup. The kings even outdrew the Ducks both years that they went to the finals. The numbers dont lie: Bandwagon jumpers flock to Anaheim

  • i bet you go just to suck wild wings feathery dick

  • Remember little ducks' fan. Your team is nothing more than a Disneyland attraction. And most ducks' fans are front-running bandwangoners who rarely go outside of Orange County. Quack quack, quack quack.

  • "Quack quack" said the little Ducks fan. "Quack quack."

  • the good king days hah

  • I've been to Lakers playoffs and Dodgers playoffs but nothing came close to the volume and excitement of this game. It was surreal!

  • Bob Miller. Classic hockey voice. Before we had the Coyotes, we used to get Kings games locally in Phoenix. Loved listening to him.

  • no matter what team you root for...anyone would kill to have been at this game.

  • good ol times when we actually made it to the playoffs

  • jay, do not know what you are smoking but blue jacket fans are not even in the top ten. hell, there are only two american teams that even have a shot at the top five and that would be minnesota and the rangers. all six canadian teams are in the top ten. flyers and avs probably round out the top ten. it would be detroit, but the economy has kind of killed them. i think L.A. has a decent fan base, i have always felt SJ does, too, but Anaheim had nobody before two years ago.

  • yah real sweet that theyve only spent 30 million and are 10 million under the 40 million minimum rule .. pretty sad when u can spend 56 mill on a team and they choose to spend 30 .. lol GET HOCKEY OFF THE WEST COAST FFS

  • habs sell out all the time. the best fans are: (not in a row ) kings blue jackets habs leafs flyers wild for me those are the best but the really best (top 3) #1 habs #2 blue jackets #3 wild

  • are u fucking stupid dont u even know the attendance record numbers? lol #2 blue jackets.....u are one ignorant mother fucker bluejackets fucken suck and will always suck

  • blue jackets? are you kidding? no one goes to blue jacket games. there shouldn't be a team in columbus, ohio. it's not a good hockey location.

  • I love it when cocksuckers like you think you know what a "Good hockey location is".

Got news for you asshole, in the early 80's...Detroit was not a good hockey location. No one went to watch the Red Wings because they were a gigantic pile of shit.

Far as I'm concerned......the Red Wings and their fans are still fucking piles of shit.

  • well these piles of shit have the cup and your team doesn't. so suck a fat one bitch. by the way, why are you watching an yzerman video when your not even a fan of the wings. probably cause you wish your team was as good as us. you will witness another cup coming to HOCKEYTOWN next year. and also, the coyotes absolutely blow dick. I'd be embarrassed to be a coyote fan.

  • Fuck Hockeytown. Fuck your entire city. PS Dipshit......I'm not watching an Yzerman video. I'm watching Adam Deadmarsh fuck your favorite team up. Another year the Red Wings were favored to win, and the Kings screwed them.

Sort of like the Oilers did pretty recently.

I should be emabarassed to be a Coyotes fan? There was a day when people were embarassed to be Red Wings fans. And that day shall come again my retarded hockeytown fan. Fuck you.

  • hey, how many cups do the kings or coyotes have???? NONE!

How many do the wings have?? 11! you think the wings are gonna be bad pretty soon? HAHA think again retard because we got hossa, datsyuk and zetterberg.

you, just like all red wing haters are only mad at us because we win all the time. its not my fault that the coyotes couldn't make the playoffs if there lives depended on it. GROW THE FUCK UP.

  • There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to take that far man.Sports are nothing to lose your mind for.Yeah the Kings did win that year, but does anyone remember Yzerman AND Shanahan were injured that year.Injuries aren't an excuse but they do play a factor. We came back and won the cup the NEXT year! What has L.A. done since? We lost some bad playoff rounds but you know what? You can't win them all! Four stanley cups in 11 years is pretty damn good! And Detroit is one of the best sports cities in the WORLD!

  • go kings they will win the cup soon

  • p.s. sharks and ducks fans suck nuts, get a sharks fan or ducks fan to bang out their history on ice, and its like "uuhhhhh uhhhhh" were the sharks, or quack quack, lol

  • haha, i like that

  • A Kings fan all my life, i'd have to say in all our history, even going to the stanley cup final in 93, this was the most gracious victory in Kings history n my opinion, to beat a legendary franchise like the red wings, espescially after they won a stanley cup, was the best. They are an elite franchise as i said before, so it meant alot more to us then to them.

  • Same here, seeing Adam's reaction after scoring still gives me goosebumbs. And to all those idiots who only want to talk trash about the Kings, yeah we may suck now...but eventually we're going to comeback to a situation like this, the same result will happen most likely, and instead of us only being one game short of glory, we will make it back to the finals, and we will win the cup.

  • One of the best games ever.

  • a dark moment in wings history which led to the changes the following season bringing in hasek, hull and robataille

  • Can someone PLEASE post the Second round of the 2001 Playoffs, The one with kings VS. Avs, great series!

  • can u upload game 1 from espn because i like the announcer

  • The one with Gary Thorne and Bill Clement?

    OH GREAT ANNOUNCERS!

  • kings sucks

  • 19duhart, if "Kings" was a person's last name, you'd have a grammatically correct statement. Learn proper English. You suck.

  • you sucks

  • GO KINGS

  • Excuse me, I didn't say I'd rather NOT go to the playoffs, I'd love to. But I'm saying, as long as we're not in them, look at the positives.

  • But there aren't any positives. You want to win. Besides, you know who the bandwagoners are.

  • below me ms future anze kopitar made the dumbest point ever

you rather NOT go to the playoffs?

ru kidding me? you obviously weren't in any of the previous playoff games...

  • The Kings finished in 29th place out of 30 teams this season, and THOUSANDS of devoted fans attended every game possible, including myself. As much as I would love to see this again, I sort of like not going to the playoffs, because then we don't have to deal with all the bandwagoners. Kings have the best fans in the world!!!

    GO KINGS GO!!!!!!!!!

  • What are you talking about?! I'd rather be in playoffs right now and owning the NHL rather than to be deciding who to take with the 2nd overall pick. Kings fans are the best fans there's no doubt. I just can't wait until we have great management and ownership. Hopefully AEG leaves and sells the Kings to a good person who cares about the team.

  • Couldn't agree more...if some of these other NHL team fans commenting on this video only knew how much AEG has fucked us over...I can't even finish my statement, nevertheless AEG is the living demonic spirit of Bill Wirtz :(

  • Yea, but we won today. haha.

  • you say thousands like its some amazing number of people. every arena has thousands of people, and its really not hard to fill a few thousand seats when its in a city like LA where there are millions of people. and your saying your crowd is better than the ducks, habs, wings, leafs and many others that sellout on a regular basis?and why would u go to season games and not playoff games?that doesnt make sense at all. you seriously need to rethink what you wrote.

  • Well yes, look at Kings fan, some from the original expansion in 1967, and for a team that has not won a stanley cup(but many other awards and trophys)fans still come and show loyalty to the Kings, but the the other teams crowd/fans, most just come to the games because theres the storys "Oh they won the stanley cup."

Im sorry, but Kings fans are probably are the most loyal in the League, but thats my opinion might be and might not be true.

  • I miss those days.

  • You must be confusing us with the Ducks. And where do you even get that information from? Sharks fans are not better. You guys are all jumping on the bandwagon right now just like how they have been doing in Anaheim.

When the Kings get real good and make the playoffs again, and God I hope it is soon, Staples Center becomes quite possibly the rowdiest arena in hockey...So airgod, you are full of air.

  • you are stupid, i went to a ducks stanley cup game, there was at least 80 extra tickets for that game.

  • what are you talking about?! The Kings have sold out a good majority of their regular season games even when they have been dead last in the conference for the past two years. The Kings have some of the most dedicated and loyal fans out of any team in the NHL. and btw, this game in particular was standing room only.

  • i was there, now i've been to a ducks stanley cup game, the ducks fans couldn't even be this loud and this is just the first round. imagine what a stanley cup atmosphere for the kings would look like

  • I'm a huge kings fan and i have one question.

What's the name of the song in the end of the vid. After Deadmarsh scored?

    Greetz from Germany

  • The song is "I Love L.A." - by Randy Newman

Thanks for being a fan of the Kings in Germany!

  • awesome to see people all over the world follow my team. I will die a Kings fan, no matter how many losing seasons they have.

  • Not even close. Sharks fans are the same as Kings fans. BUT, anaheim is nowhere near either of them. The only reason people are going to games in Anaheim is because it is an attraction and they have stepped on the bandwagon....

  • Yeah sure...Ducks and sharks fans leave the game when their team is losing...some fans.

    Kings Fan stay.

  • Yeah sure...Ducks and sharks fans leave the game when their team is losing...some fans.

    Kings Fan stay.

  • dude, half of the ducks fans, don't know shit about hockey. in fact, during last years stanley cup finals in game 2, there were 80 extra tickets for that game. and i know cause i work in the ticket business, kings fans are most loyal, the sharks have good fans but i'm not sure which is better.

  • right on brother.

  • Man, I miss Ziggy sometimes. #33. My favorite player second only to Luc.

  • what year did deadmarsh retire?

  • In 2002-2003 he suffered a nasty concussion early in the season and ended up missing the entire 2003-2004 season too, unofficially announcing his retirement. It's a shame, he could have done more great things in a Kings jersey...

  • Wasn't the last one "friendly fire" so to speak? I think it was Craig Johnson that caused Deader's last concussion.

  • I don't recall it being Craig Johnson, but if it was, only more reason to hate that guy's entire tenure in a Kings' jersey...

  • Im a huge fan of hockey and i remember the kings having a purple alt. jersey. i wanna know as to A) why they replaced them with another black alt. jersey and B) which jersey do you prefer now. I may like the Mighty Ducks because of Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya, but i live in Canada now and i played minor league hockey in Washington state b4 financial hardships ended my career. BTW you guys got some nice fans here. You guys deserve the cup way more than the Leafs b/c you got a great young core.

  • what year did deadmarsh retire?

  • was this the finals?

  • Round 1, 2001.
