  • What a lesson!

  • What a pity tha this extraordinary singer was concealed behind the Iron Curtain!!

  • how wonderful

  • The most beautiful baritone voice!

  • He is not only the greatest singer of all times, but the greatest musition wich unfortinatly doesn't goes together for the most of the singers. Great voice quality, incredible legato, prononciation, and so much more......-everyting is great. Golden voice. And I so much agree with "Iron Curtain" that shadowed him.

  • I prefer his singing to any baritone today...

  • Does anyone know of any cds out with his work? I'd love to buy them.

  • I was a super in La Traviata last season, and this was my favorite aria in the opera! I love this version, Pavel was really something. . .

  • Superbe

  • Both Lisitsian and Lemeshev share a number of vocal characteristics... their quick and even vibrato, the attack of each high note and of course their accents. Perhaps two of the greatest singers ever recorded, unfortunately always shadowed by the 'Iron Curtain'.

  • @phatphace

even vibrato ? this is no vibrato this is a tremolo...sounds like a goat!

  • i am just astounded when listening to this man.

  • fantastic.

  • Another great Armenian musician, Alan Hovhaness the other.

  • Lovely... Really!

  • Best ever recording of this gem! Bravo! TY

  • extraordinary phrasing. a great performance

  • Beautiful voice and treatment. What a surprise find!

  • I have just now heard this video. What happened was this: I died, and found myself in heaven with the angels all around me...I weep...my monitor screen looks like it's in a fishbowl.

  • Quin vibrato, quina cadéncia, quina coloratura, quina força¡¡

    Bravo¡¡Lisitsian

    El millor "Di Provenza"

  • I only heard this voice for the first time about 6months ago believe it or not on a CD I purchased from my local £1 shop where he is singing I love you from the Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky. Although my wife and I are Mario Lanza fanatics I do consider this particular recording the finest voice I have ever heard, sheer class and beauty.

    LANZANUT.

  • £1 shop? Where?!

  • TEBRİKLER...

  • Wonderful singing.TY.

  • bravo !

  • Thanks for this video. This prooves that the quality is what counts not quantity! No matter how much they try to conduct ethnic cleansing but still they can not hide the beauty of Armenian nation! Ahmad Shamloo says in Persian: Its is only the sound which will remain!

    Dorood bar shoma, Taraneh

  • ABRIS 15/10

  • SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • He was born into an Armenian family living in the Russian city of Vladikavkaz, where his father was a mineworker. Pavel first worked in diamond drilling, then as a welder apprentice hoping to follow his father's steps. He first began to sing in a church choir before moving to Leningrad to study cello (1930). His daughters Karina and Ruzanna are successful opera singers who frequently perform together. His grand daughter pianist Elena Lisitsian lives in New York City.

  • Pavel Lisitsian was an outstanding Soviet baritone opera singer who performed in the Bolshoi Opera, Moscow from 1940 until his retirement from stage in 1966

  • One of the best world singers which makes us more proud...with both his daughters...

  • Great performance by the best russian baritone for me.

  • he is Armenian from Russia...

  • I have never heard anyone sing those first 18 seconds of this aria without a pause. Unbelievable.

  • Beautiful rendition. and doesn't lose anything in the Russian language. Spectacular Baritone.

  • Lisitsian pure class.

  • Unbelievable!

  • WOW!!!

What an incredible document. Thank you so much for posting this Onegin65. Truly one of the rarest and best video´s on youtube.

I´m a big Lisitsian fan and this just made my day.
