  • your a god love it

  • tune guitar to open D, and capo the 2nd fret..

  • Outstanding lesson. Very concise and easy to follow. I had this song stuck in my head today for some reason and figured it was a sign to go learn it. Will have to apologize to the neighbors tomorrow because the volume went way up

  • Great lesson on the technique of brilliant Ron Wood

  • Love this video , Ive nearly got it off to a Tee, one hell of a classic rock intro , Stratnut any more good sounds in your video locker .

  • THE FACES PLAYED AT KENNY JONES POLO CLUB HURTWOOD PARK "POLO ROCKS" Hope you liked the videos...more to come on LDL6D cheers

  • Very nice! "Ronnie is often fairly loose!!" - ha! He's been utterly useless for at least the last 30 years, but he did have some moments with The Faces!

  • Thank you so much for the video! Your tone is great and playing impeccable. I'm playing this song with a band of mine, and you helped me get down some of Ron Wood's cool rhythm riffs down

  • Thanks, man...had no idea this was an alternate tuning...frustrated trying to play it in standard...

  • at the 5th fret, where do you hammer onto?

  • thanks

    very well done

    great tone

  • awesome lesson!

  • Thanks for the lesson. You're a very good teacher! Not to mention a very good player as well. Rock on!

  • You seem like a very patient and nice guy. Thanks for showing us this. Good work.

  • This is great, and you explain it so well - with options. thanks !

  • this is great and you expalin it so well - with options. Thanks !

  • Tried playing this for years without understanding what 'open tuning' was... (my bass player clued me in) Came off pretty well nonetheless... Played this at many shows and the audience was none the wiser... However, knowing now exactly how to play it will make the next gig that much better... thanks, stratnut!

  • great lesson - thanx

  • I want to steal that amp!!!!!! I WILL steal your amp!!!!!! Great job, an very good tone.

  • Thats really good. Great sound but you can play it with standard tuning and it sounds just as good. Just use a C shape from the 9th , 7th and 2nd frets then D string 2nd fret hammering on to 4th fret with open A then slide up to 7th fret on the E with 9th fret on the A and hammer on the A on 12 to 11 to 9 then slide up to E on the10th fret with A on the 12th fret and hammer on the A on 15 to 14 to 12 then back to the 2nd to 4th fret hammer on D and open A. Sounds long but saves re tunining

  • Very good, has inspired me to try this great song myself. Many thanks.

  • thanks by the way

  • Inspired by your video I videod JEFF BECK very close up playing at Brighton UK Oct 2010 you tube HOW TO PLAY JEFF BECK GUITAR. Also of Ronnie Wood stay with me faces reunion

  • It sound better than a lot of stuff that's posted on you tube. thanks for the lesson it's so easy but sounds so great! Nice job!

  • jesus, could you go any slower..?

  • @esa1810

    Yes. Yes he could.

  • you nailed it mate,, i'd give me left bollock to be able to play like that,, Rock-n-Roll indeed!!

  • Merci pour la démo

  • a man thanks..great job. always had a hard time makin that song sound right..much better now thanx

  • Great Amp!

  • Very well presented.

  • FOR A CLOSE UP OF RONNIE PLAYING STAY WITH ME at the Faces reunion check out youtube "FACES STAY WITH ME REUNION 2010" cheers ldl6d....

  • Very cool!!!

  • Thanks very much for this; as someone else commented, you're a good teacher.

And I also very much appreciate the assertiveness and authority of your playing.

    Thanks, once again,

  • thanx for that lesson for one of my all time favourite songs, hope to hear more from you soon.

    BTW, love the can amp

  • While string tension is part of the overall sound, sure you can de-tune down

to open E Flat or even D if you wish and capo back up.

  • hey.... thats a bloody great lesson! Good form:)

Ill be annoying the neighbours with that tonight......thanks:)

  • Thanks for this ! I've been going through all the Open G Keith stuff and having fun and now it's time for a little Ronnie in "E".

  • Very good explanation of the fretting hand. But, what's the strumming pattern?

  • Excellent video! Thanks for making/posting and keep up the good work! :-)

  • Is there any other way to play this than in open E? Because I've broken 2 G-strings already because it gets so tight. Is there any other open-chord tuning that has the same tone-intervals between the strings as E? Then I could just use a capo to play it...

  • @wentberg Hi - I would suggest tune to open E flat, i.e. all strings tuned down one step compared to open E tuning. Then use a capo on the first fret

  • @wentberg i play this song in regular tuning

  • @wentberg. I have a home-made electric tuned to open E for slide. I was worried about breaking strings, and over -stressing the neck, as I use really heavy-gauge strings (13 to 56) and a high action to stop them sitting down on the frets. Probably because of the gauge (26 !!), I've never broken a string, but to answer your question, try tuning to E flat or D with a capo, and maybe go up a gauge. it'll give you a better tone, and they'll be stronger. "Maddogwyatt"

  • @wentberg Try open G and place a capo on the second fret. You will have to find the notes in a different spot on the neck, but they are there. Or, try open D with a capo on the second fret, which will retain the same shapes the fellow above is playing but 2 frets up.

  • @wentberg tune to open d and capo the second fret

  • @wentberg Open G D G D G B D

  • @wentberg I usually get paranoid about tuning up to open e also so you could also tune to open d and then capo the second fret

  • @wentberg this is a common problem i've run into...breaking g strings while fingering minors. I've found that a little awareness will go along way in regards to this. I've created consent forms and I always require at least three forms of I.D.

  • @wentberg your doing it wrong

  • hey i liked that...

    thanks for sharing! ,'<)

  • full barre sounds shitty. hands arent big enough for partial barre. shit sucks.

  • What can I say that hasn't been said, 'Thanks! for posting!!!!"

  • Great lesson! Keep the Ron Wood instruction videos coming please!

  • Man, you've got it nailed. Thanks for the lesson.

  • Nice amp!

  • cheers man, very good instruction

  • very cool, thanks!

  • Nice one man

  • Cool lesson and cool amp!

    Jam ON!

    -BB

  • Great lesson - very good sound - thanks

  • Naff Tone..Can I name my amps that? It looks like a paint thiiner can! This is a great lesson..Keep up the great work!

  • You are spot on - it is an old paint thinner can!

  • Spot On..Naff Tone...Cool Amp Names! I found an old Hi-Fi external speaker that is actually a tube amp. I rigged a cord, and it works OK for an acoustic amp. I am attempting to clone it. Is your paint thinner can a valve amp? And let me guess..ICI Paint thinner?

  • No markings, so can't say if ICI or not. Didn't think I'd be discussing the make of the tin can when I put the video up :-)

  • It's a simple op amp circuit from runoffgroove that I built, "Ruby" I believe

  • @yanceyts nothing wrong with that tone mate. it's just not that scratchy sound that ronnie has that's all, it's not naff in any way though it's just smoother

  • The guitar lesson was terrific -- LOVE the Faces!....the best part was revealing your homemade amp at the end! Priceless!!! Great job, sir!

  • great thumb work....that's the key to this learning vid...

  • Very helpful, very clear, thanks for doing this

  • Great stuff. Always wondered why I couldn't play it. It was the tuning!

    Thanks

  • thanks for your dedication and patience.... good stuff!

  • Thanks for the constructive comments. I'll take them onboard. Truth be known, I feel a little deflated since these comments have come from one of my all time favorite guitar heros - I assume you are the REAL Kenny Kanowski and not some interloper pretending to be a guitarist (wasn't sure from your vids)

  • I'm definitely no guitar hero, but Thanks.Ijust thought you should get to it sooner.I guess you are zoning in on beginners.Sorry for the comment

  • Actually I get the Chord progression, the tuning I never realized, you can teach and and you can play , you can teach people that want to rock and roll not twinkle....little star. Mr. Woods Faces guitar playing is and was a great moment in time. ......... gotta add in the Intro one, two, three,( that was a good album too). THANKS

  • Better than I can find from the original artists on youtube. Please post another video playing the entire song if you have time. The guitar's what makes that song. Are you in a band with equal quality musicians right now?

  • Wow, I kept trying this and not getting the sound without realizing the need to re-tune. I'm going to try this, you sound is terrific in the video THanks!

  • Thanks for this Sratnut! Love the amp at the end- wish we had these cans in the U.S. !!

  • GREAT instructional video, mate!

  • ROCKING RON WOOD !!!

  • dosent the gitarist use a slide

  • Awesome song and lesson. You never hear or see anyone doing this one. Thanks again. Any chance of doing an I'm Losing You video lesson in the future?

  • Hey, great job. I had figured this was in E tuning, but it's great to see your work on it. This is just a great song to have in a band set. Not too many doing it today!

  • great lesson cheers!

  • hit damn good lesson! Rock n rollll!!!!

  • Great lesson. Always thought in was in open G, but your open E method is definitely the final word on it. Thanks for the demonstration!

  • Excellent lesson - thank you.

P.S. Your voice really does sound exactly like Peter Frampton.

  • Perfect - link it to a P.A. for the gig and then pack it into your pocket for the trip home.

  • You nailed it - thanks

  • LOVE THE AMP MAN, IT SOUNDS KILLER

  • Fuzzface maybe?

  • Simple solid state circuit similar to a Smokey cigaret packet amp (all one half a watt!!!)

  • Excellent!! Brilliant lesson

  • Love tha homemade amp! I always used open G as well. Sounds MUCH better in E! Thanks!

  • what the fuck? How can you change your guitar tuning from standard to E tuning?

Love the Amp at the end as well. Genius.

  • You're definitely one of the best guitarists on youtube. Nice work.

I've only been playing guitar for a couple of months so obviously I wouldn't be able to do play something as complicated as this, but i'll be sure to come and visit you again in a few years!

  • never say never one5643 ...

posotive mental attitude if you want to play it stick at it ,it pays off .

  • Is that you Peter Frampton?

  • I have been trying so long to learn this song by ear for a long long long time. I can't thank you enough for the tutorial. If you could post up a tutorial for the entire song (little solos and what not) that would be great. Thanks again!

  • Great vid! Thanks for your efforts.

    More, please!!!!!!!!!!

  • top stuff mate. Spot on. Get some more vids on here!

  • sweet thnxs man

  • Stratnut- you are a wonderful teacher. This is a benchmark classic song and enjoying much success now. You Brit's are too clever on this Rock and Roll stuff- Chuck Berry didn't do it so we forgot to try. I'd like to occassionally see the right hand or move it up the fret to see how both hands are moving. Of course we want to know if you have the hair like Rod and Ron also- All the best- cheers Bob

  • Sorry no disregards to chuck. THE music he wrote can only fuel teen years to come. Long Live King CHUCK!There will only be one Chuck Berry, Chuck influenced so many great guitarist. He could play, blues, swing, pop, rock which he formed. Some people hate him but its ok to dance with a sister or a brother because of-Chuck- all hail the king f

  • Thanks mate. Open E!! Who knew!! I thought I was going to go my grave without ever having played this one correctly. Now I can die in peace. Cheers!

  • Brilliant. But have you got the feather cut to go with it ;-)

  • FINALLY!!! I have been struggling with this forever... standard tuning, open G, nothing worked. Never thought to try open E. Thanks! Excellent rhythm BTW.
