did anyone notice that the bases were OVERLY saturated, at one point somewhere at minute 10 you can see one drone counstantly moving around the mineral patches but not actually mining anything.. BTW this is even after the transfer that was made when the 3rd natural was made ( the second time )

In my opinion Nestea didnt show his best game here .. also i almost cried when i saw those 20 Colonies to a bunch of DT's, Why didnt he make a Overseer the first time the DT's took out his 3rd expansion??

@GilesArmstrong you're kidding right? the phoenixes are exactly the best unit you could have against mutas. If you pay attention to your fight and kite properly, you won't loose a single one if on a 1:1 fight. They are a total terror for zergs since you can kill the queen so easily, destroy his overlords and it force them to go for corruptor or Hydras. They are your key unit against a zerg!!

But some guy with Phoenixes tried to outmicro my Mutas, and I kept picking off his Phoenixes whenever he made a mistake in his micro since I had more Mutas than he had Phoenixes. The problem with Phoenixes is getting them, and in adequate numbers. Not only are you open to early Zergling attacks, you really have no solid ground army to work with... If you can get them without losing, you pretty much win with some good micro...

Force, I'm just going to have to say that cheesing/proxy/early harrass is much more pro than these build up and attack games. Honestly there is almost no fighting until 6 min. How can this be even pro? Cheese doesn't mean all in, The time that the toss let the zerg go muta was just stupid. Honestly letting a zerg build up will mean death. I don't get why peopel this playing like this is "pro" but rushing isn't. People need to learn to play.

How the heck do these guys get away with these build orders? If I had just 2 lings and fast expanded and delayed my pool the way he did it'd be a lose for me every time. I see all these Zerg players getting away with having no units and expanding quick early on and I am wondering why I always play the guys who zealot rush early. I usually survive the initial waves but by they eventually just wear me down and prevent me from expanding.

this is the tricky thing in sc2 you have always to know what your opponent is doing, zerg units are only strong in mass. you just can take out 1 zealot with 4 lings...i think they stop rush at diamond league^^ its an piece of honor not to rush, because rush is no complecated strategy

@titiomy Lots and lots of phoenix to handle the mutas. Learn to kite and you'll never lose a phoenix. Try to get a 1-1 ratio for phoenix - muta and you'll do okay. Lotsa zealots for the lings. Make sure to get +1 ground attack to 2 shot lings. When he transitions to hydras, get either high temps or colossi.

How to beat Muta-Ling? I'm only top 10 plat in my division but I usually try to scout mutas before they get out. If you see double gas and nothing but zerglings coming out, then you can assume mutas. At this point you have a timing window and you need to take advantage of it. Put pressure on zerg, target the spire/drones. Use warp prism drops and a speedlot, stalker and sentry push would be great. Other option is to go stargate and maintain air ctrl using phoenixes.

mutas are not fragile they beat stalkers in a straight up fight Mutas are way too strong protoss gets owned by Muta Ling so hard every unit they have loses to the combo of mobility and power that muta ling has

@UncPhill3593 if you attack zerg, before he gets mutas, or while he's getting it (before it reach critical mass they're useless against stalker / sentry guardian shield). Lings? You need to use zealots as a meatshields on the front. They are very effective againts zerlings. I've won two times in a row with zerg trying to do mutaling stuff, they never get a chance to actually start harass. If you let them expand and stack up mutas, its usually GG, or aat least very hard to recover situation.

Dear Force: I actually just won a game using this particular strategy in the bronze league vs a Terran. My terran opponent ended up attacking with an early bioball, and I responded with lings and a couple mutas (i had a few around when he struck) and repelled his attack, losing my main, but retaining my natural. I actually did a good harass, and then came back with a ball of mutas and a group of lings for the GG

the toss were terrible, not because not having units, he was terrible for not responding to that build AT ALL.

he should have gotten eigher HTs+archons+more cannons or phoenixes. he should have done more harassment.

the shouldnt have won. you dont win a game by harassment alone. it just doesn't work (if your opponent plays correctly)

Nah, it's not about the amount of protoss units during the attack. It's about he let zerg to expand, very fast expand. When I play againts zerg I just push, when I see he's going muta. Muta's are too fast, too agile to let them spraed around the map. You just have to push, keep preasure, and not let him expand, He will starve from lack of gas, he wont be able to produce so many mutas as normally with expansions. If you keep preasure, you'll force him to switch the build - or lose :)

@musselwhizzle Well, as zerg you can use a few banes and infestors to backup ur main army (of hidras or queens and roaches or w/e). As protoss zealots and stalkers (proporcionaly ur supposed to have more stalkers for every muta and more zealots for every zergling) and tech to high templars. As terran, get turrets in your base, marines with shields, tanks and medivacs.

But your problem unlikely is what units to get. If you want help you need to say what league your in.

But if the zerg player does really really good micro the mutas can easily outplay archons too :( Unfortunately they are the only good bet. Also storms are quite OK, but often I dont even have the time and spare gas to research it because I need those archons so fast.
