Either pronunciation of often is correct. Just because they don't pronounce it with the t in Texas doesn't make it wrong. i just looked it up on several online dictionaries, and they all had both pronunciations. I think Miriam Webster is correct, not you. In England and Canada many words are pronounced differently than they are in America.
