@kakashiisawesome1222 "Knee-high to a grasshopper" is the idiom in English (don't know why I didn't put that). The literal translation of the French line is "tall as three apples."

@claressadubs It's so weird because the "French French" version's meaning is completely different from the original's. I guess that's why I prefer this one. Plus, kikyo4815's subs are awesome. =]

Overall, good translation, but a few errors. S'en sortir means to get out of a problem, to cope with a problem (literally, to get myself out of something, me = me, en = of something, sortir = go/get out). I would translate it as "I am alone to do grow up" And then, it's "pendant leur sommeil," which is "while THEY sleep," not "while I sleep."

Thank you. I couldn't figure out what the "en" would mean in that situation. :)

However, I did know that "pendant leur sommeil" would translate to "while they sleep", but I translated it a bit differently to make the subtitles fit better on the screen. :)

Sorry for the double-post, but I forgot to say something:

At 2:07 when he says: «et tous ces vaut rien»

he say it in the sens of a person, of a groupe of people, so «vaut rien» become «vauriens» which is a adjectives for vilain people. x)

«Vaut rien» says a other sens, here it makes no sense. Hope it helps! :)

I know exactly what you mean about being tempted to say it's sung by John Rzeznick,. the guy who sang the english version. It really does sound a bit like him. But it's actualy sung by José Paradis. I should know. This is the version I have on my DVD at home. I do prefer the European French version of this song. I like the voice of that singer, David Halliday, more. And the lyrics are better. Still this is one of my favorite versions. I've been looking for the translations. Thank you.
