Aye, that he is. I will always miss this form, though. Sting has never been the same to me since he started the whole Crow gimmick, but he's still one of the best of the best. And I think Ric Flair was right when he said that if Sting had gone to WWF, Vince would have done so much with him. In Flair's own words, he had the look every bit as much as Hogan and the Warrior and his ring work was way better. Few truer words have ever been spoken.
@DJCandyManMike Sting did have the look and size of Warrior and Hogan but so did Kerry Von Erich. Sting was Mr.WCW and for that reason alone Vince McMahon wouldn't have done anything with him. Dusty Rhodes was one of the biggest stars in wrestling. He went to WWF and they stuck him in polka dots and never let him get near the main event or World Title. Vince McMahon and now even the WWE fans are against the idea of giving foreign talent any type of push and feel thats homegrown should get it all
@DJCandyManMike Ric Flair is a tool. With his booking in early 90's WCW, he let Mick Foley and Steve Austin go and poorly used them while they were there. He's only now making up for people an idiot by going to TNA and returning to his insane self.
@nintendojuggalo Flair was not booking when Austin and Mick Foley left. Bischoff was, and Bischoff actually tried to get Foley to stay (though he has admitted that he just didn't see anywhere to go with Austin, and to be fair WCW had been working their asses off to get Austin over since 1991 and he just never managed to break through, and it was a stroke of luck that he did in the WWF. A single ad-libbed line at the King of the Ring had not been spoken he'd have languished in the mid-card.
Song, yes. Character/ gimmick.. no. A headcase who ran around and squashed everybody, or a really good worker who gave his all in every match. NO, sorry, no similarity. You could have at least pointed out they billed Sting from Venice Beach, CA, just a little bit down the sand from Hulk Hogan.
Face paint, large physiques, faces and big time crowd favorites, high octane persona, they were a lot like, now sting did have better mic skills and was a far better wrestler, but the way both companies were selling them you can't deny they weren't alike, even Ric Flair says, "Sting was the Ultimate Warrior before he was".
Bullshit, Flair was 6'1", watch any match with them talking to one another and Sting is easily two inches taller. I think he was billed at 6'3". Watch the Rick Rude matches, he's about the same height.
No way dude, you've got it wrong. Sting was billed at 6'3", but may have been 6'2" or 6'2" and some change. I'd go ahead and say the billing of 6'3 is adequate. 5'11"!?!? Hogwash

That was true, but I could careless about cruiser weights to be honest. When I watch wrestling, I like to see men "larger than life". I don't like to see guys who I feel couldn't even take me on in a fight.
Again, that is true that the cruiser weights do have a lot of heart... but wrestling is a shallow business and so am I. I mean, when I go to WWF events, half of the fun is to see how large these guys are in real life because it's not often you see guys that are so mammoth in size. I don't wanna see 5' 3 140 lbs Rey Mysterio. ANd it just looks dumb when he beats guys who are like 6'5 because it makes it seem so much more fake.
Not impossible by any means though I see where you are coming from. But I honestly don't like seeing a hulking cut(obviously juicing) guy, real athletes look nothing like that either. A guy like bob backlund(bigger than you think, but not overtly so) is what a perfect wrestler looks like.
That it did we had stuff like Billy Kidman,Rey Mysterio Jr.Y2J and many more until one Wrestling Company came in WSX Wrestling Society X that had peopel liek Teddy Hart he done awesoem has backflips and jack evans Finisher 630 splash that was double front flip and 6 pac aka X-Pac he done frontflips that wwere unbelieveable what werstling fan are you?
Do you have many theme songs on hand? How much will you charge for a CD of my favs? Just listening to this one reminded me of the old NWA days.....ahhhhh good times......

This era of the rock n roll wrestler started with Jerry Jarrett's booking and came up through the AWA & WCW. Sting was and STILL IS AWESOME!

Maybe I should have clarified myself a little more. I wasn't suggesting that the Warrior was anywhere close to the wrestler or worker that Sting was.
Ninety2q 2 years ago
both were billed from venice beach CA
rebornpunk06 2 years ago
the characters were none of the like, just because they both had face paint on doesn't reallly qualify as a simularity!

I reckon lex luger was more of an ultimate warrior than sting, ultimate warrior was a growler, and so was lex, but lex was more human
rainxxxx 2 years ago
well, they started their careers as a tag team called "the blade runners" and they BOTH had face-paint on then too. they are a little similar.
