  • I think the Super Nintendo's game library is the best of any system.

  • 1:15 hmm this reminds me of something..

  • 1:16 then I took an arrow to the knee

  • good memories, Soul Blazer, a Link to the Past, Lagoon

  • Comment removed

  • Terranigma is the best of the three games, folks.

  • Link had gotten the dream rod from this guy and accidentally touched the Wind fish with it during the storm at sea. It broke and Link was stuck in the dream until the Wind fish woke up.

    Jeez I'm a nerdy geez :(

  • OMFG SO MANY MEMORIES

  • @McScreamo it replenishes your life points on it's own when you die but you need to make sure you have it equipped before you die. Hope that helps :)

  • i love this game to death so far...but i have one problem: how do i use the medical herb that i get from the tool shop? i can't seem to find which button it is!!! or is it used automatically when you're hp is 0? HELP :(

  • this game pwns zelda

  • I tried Illusion of Gaia on the ROM, but I can't seem to get past the main menu on Soul Blazer.

I'm just wondering which is better story-wise?

    ...

And if any of them can be bought on the Wii?

  • @WrinryRockBellFMA Sadly, ActRaiser was the only Quintet game to arrive on the Wii Virtual Console. It's very differente from Gaia and Terranigma and by no means worse. Keep at it, it's worth it! =)

  • @WrinryRockBellFMA Depends. IoG and Terranigma are better titles. Story-wise and all. But Soul Blazer is indeed, in my opinion a challenging title. Pity, I say these games didn't get more respect they deserve. No wonder RPG's are the way they are now. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Brings back a lot of memories. <3 Check my channel. I'm into the old school rpg stuff. =D

  • Did they rip the sound effects straight from Act Raiser?

  • @Metafron Same developers, Quintet. The sound FX appear in some of their other SNES games as well.

  • You'd think God would be able to spell...

  • Fuck i beat Soul blazer 100 times.......Time to beat it 101 times! :D

  • @DMosPx wanted to say the very same thing! Soul Blazer rules! :)

  • is this game good

  • "hmm interesting name, now go save the world!"

  • the sound of the Wood dungeon outside is epic^^ the game is very very good. I think one of the most important games on the snes because this is the beginning of the good area of the RPGs

  • My friend lent me this catridge, but it was in Japanese, and I got stuck somewhere and never get to complete this. =/

  • square-enix needs to remake this game exclusively for the ps3

  • @orionpk So other people don't deserve to have this remade? =) Multiformat, pls.

  • @ShiryuGL nah multiplatforms looks generic and most of them are usually toned down to fit on multi consoles, you don't want that on this remake :p would be nice making it for the ps3 only to use the full power of the cell so it can look good like all exclusives from the ps3

  • @orionpk I must disagree, in fact, both "Lair" and "Haze" bankrupted two of my favorite software houses (Factor 5 and Radcial Entertainment). PS3 development is still very expensive and risky, as "Final Fantasy XIII" proves this, looks aren't everything. I would rather see a new "Soul Blader" on PSN/XBLA/Wiiware/DS/PSP then anything.

  • @ShiryuGL i did not understand the ff13 thing that you mentioned at all

  • @orionpk Have you ever played Final Fantasy VI (SNES) or VII(PSX)? I find both of them way, way superior to FF13. Generation gap, I guess. =)

  • @ShiryuGL im not fan of final fantasy 7, but yes, even lost oddesey and final fantasy X are better than final fantasy 13, but when i sadi remake, i said that with the same stuff but in amazing 3d graphics jazzy/weird music like the snes version, final fantasy 13 was a huge success in sales for the ps3, making games for the ps3 it's not risky, unless you buy a shitty port like final fantasy 13 like 360 version :p but it's personal choice, we can go on and on, on this subject

  • @orionpk Indeed, to each it's own as long as everyone's happy.

  • i just found this game at a old video store still in the box for 6 bucks....i hope its good

  • @zydricpurdy omfg! wow you are so lucky! thisgame without the box on ebay last i checked was like 30 bucks.

  • It's strange to think Act Raiser, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia are all connected. I can see the similarities between the first two games, but Illusion of Gaia was almost a completely different deal!

  • @Left4eggs they use the same game engine

  • Some of the sounds and visuals remind are the exact same as Actraiser.

  • and here I am, o7

  • i love this game never beaten it though

  • im playing this agen didint for 4 years started today beat the first level.

  • omg yes! thank for uploading this, I've been trying to remember this game for the longest time. Played this as a kid. : )

  • love this game...hard as hell at some points but classic. They need to re-make this for gameboy ds...

  • oh man this is just a classic to this day i use 2 play this in junior high 95 Listening to kausion skee lo coolio the friday soundtrack and just beating the game can describe the feeling

  • I love the friggen forward nature of the guy telling you what to do. He's so to the point. "Get the hell out there and save the world" that's awesome..lol.

  • i bought this game and still right now - after owning about 250 games, i think this is freaking awesome!!!

    it kicks balls

epic gameplay........ god i want a part II so much!

  • I remember finishing this game as a kid. Only thing I really remember now was the music. God the music was EPIC!

  • Haha I so agree! That is one of the things with this game you'll never forget, the music was damn epic! Especially the music on the world map, ah, gave me chills, still does.

  • It uses actraiser's sound engine as lot of the sound effect are the same.

  • Many Enix games had those sounds, Illusion of Gaia, Act Raiser, and Soul Blazer all use the same soundset.

  • I recognized the similar sounds between Illusion of Gaia and Soul Blazer when I was very young.

  • One of my fav games of all times...

  • which are the 3 games from the gaia trilogy?

is it soul blazer, actraiser and illusion of gaia or?

    cheers

  • Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma (never released in the US). Look for my video of Terranigma, is amazing. =)

  • ty mate....loaded them all...started soul blazer ...its amazing :)

  • i thought secret of evermore was included in this grouping. am i wrong to think this?

also i am thinking of getting either illusion, evermore, or soul blazer. should i start at the beginning with Soul Blazer?

    thanks

  • Illusion of Gaia was developed by Enix at the start, but they ended up running into financial/schedule problems so Nintendo picked up the project as they had a larger development team.

  • Incorrect. Enix never developed any game. They are purely publishers.

    The developer was Quintet.

  • Okay I stand corrected. That's what you get when you work too long of days at crappy jobs and walk around in a daze.

I guess we can't be right all the time...

  • @ShiryuGL illusion of gaia released on the US , i still have the game physically

  • Yeah you should give Terranigma a go if you haven't played it. It's an awesome game! Hehe I can understand why you thought that Actraiser was in the trilogy, since it got all the same soundset as JaundiceJaun mentioned.

  • i think i remember seeing this game before but i wasn't sure if this was it O.O

  • This was one of my first rpgs as a kid. Wonderful game. One of the best of its time. And still pretty fun.

  • I don't like this game.

For me, the story isn't good enough.

You are just there and have to kill the monsters.

For me, a good RPG has to have a good story.

  • i know what you mean. even the fighting in the game isnt so good... like if you compare it to zelda or secret of mana. its an mediocre game though.

  • My first RPG pal! n.n Building towns, Enter people Dreams, Sous that gives you abilities, men this game is amazing!!! And Im still playing it on my ZSNES emulator =)

  • wow, i forgot all about the music on this game. @ 1:05 it sounds like music mannie fresh would make for cash money.

  • i loved this game when i was a kid, would love to see it on the virtual console!

  • wait this reminds me alot of actraser

  • Lmfao, epic?. Shiryu, what a interesting name. Now go save the world..... and so the story(story?) begins.

  • EPIC detected.

  • Fantastic game. The best in the series and it had an epic ending i remember! Still have it in my collection.

  • great game, and great series (I remembered this game because I played actraiser for the first time ever today and noticed the same sounds and the health indicator)

  • i loved this game!!

    it was amazing!...

  • The music has a heavy Toccata influence, doesn't it? It sounds really good, fits this awesome game very well.

  • Weird, when I was a kid I never got to play this game.. ActRaiser is my favorite game of all time though, and it's weird to hear the exact same sound effect(s) in this video. I'm going to grab a ROM of this and try it out.

  • I want to find another copy of this game, if anybody has one there selling, hit me up on my page. SNES 4 Life

  • Illusion of gaia was better this was the prequel to iog

  • What a flashback. This game was awesome when I was a teen and still is.

  • god i love this game i hope it gets put on the Wii

  • Yep, this was a classic. I had it on my emulator a little earlier, but it's not the same. The second "level" of the dungeon was a pain though.

  • My Favorite game of all time :D This game is what got me started on Video Games. Thanks for putting this on Youtube. You Rock ^_^

  • So many fond memories... *tear*

  • this is a classic, fo sho

  • the sounds bring back seriously great memories =]]]]] =] =] =] =]

this game brings me to tears.. =]

  • man, I miss this game

  • Oh my God! I... I'm crying! This is too wonderful! I must play that game again!

  • What a nostalgic video! This one was the first RPG I played from the snes ='(! ...Great Memories =D!... Great Game =D!

  • i just finished it today :)

    lol Lisa is naive

  • I still play this game, lol. I'm about due for another replay. My brother and I used to play it all the time when we were younger (and when SNES was the best system around!). I'd love to find the soundtrack somewhere; I have the Lonely Town music but that's it. <3 this game :)

  • i miss playing this game when i was little

  • Yeah... me too!

  • Best game ever made. <3 Turbo

  • damn this was one of my best games i everd played im going to download it to my emulator

  • this game rocks

except my game broke and i cant find another copy :'(

  • this game is the shit loved it

  • Soul Blazer rocks. Too bad the follow-up sequels were not even close to as good. Love this soundtrack... underwater theme pwns.

  • @VonRichter i know you posted 2 years ago and will never see this, but how can anyone say illusion of gaia is not better than soul blazer?!

  • @VonRichter dude have you play tarranigma i would would have to say that is much better than soul blazer and illusion of guia i think is as good as soul blazer

  • @VonRichter You're full of shit, Illusion of Gaia is AWESOME.

  • @Chucknorrisaurrus It wasn't terrible, but it doesn't even compare to this. Heck, even Terranigma (the third game) was better. It was a bit too slow gameplay-wise, and the story was a bit melodramatic. (the same was somewhat true of Terranigma as well though, just not as much)

The original IMO has just the right combination of humor and seriousness, and is far more interesting due to the element of finding and destroying the monster lairs, which was strangely absent in the sequels.

  • I played illusion of gaia before this one, but I liked soul blazer sooo much more. I didnt realize they were loosely related at the time.

  • Mwih, one of the best games on SNES, axording to me, just love it ^^

But now I have played it through so many times so I basically know where everything is, so it's pretty easy x3

  • God I loved Enix and Quintet back then...

  • An instant classic of it's time. Again, the battle system is somewhat simple, yet I dont remember ever being bored with it.

  • Okay, quick question. On my first play though near the end I SWARE there was a part where you were talking to Lisa and you either had a chance to say "I love you" or "....." I picked "....." because I was in the 5th grade and love was icky at the time. Years later when I started playing again I never got that bit of conversation. So did I imagine it the first time?

  • Oh that's not all. I have a cd of music from this game, fun to listen to while driving @@ Anyway, good to see other people that like this game. Turbo the dog power forever and ever ~

  • Oh man I loved this game so much when I was growing up. I'd name every girl in each rpg I played after Lisa.

  • I played through this game so many times
