@tehatemachine They don't actually. WE paid for it, WE own it.
Aside from that departure from the point of my original comment, I'm amazed that its 2011 and we still feel it necessary and proper to waste so many resources to preserve face for a family genetic line that have been fucking their people over for centuries.
@yuppyguitar1 this family genetic line has been one of the main reasons for japan's success. Without a strong cultural leader and lord, japan would never have been as powerful and moving as they were and still are.
@yuppyguitar1 even in this day, royalty still are honored and respected as they used to be. Atleast in Japan. That's because of the role their ancestors played... Japanese people strongly emphasize respect of the dead, so it would be dishonorable to to treat any member of the royal family any less then as a royal. So this is simply a clash of cultures.
@hiashiro1 Are you Japanese, and if so, how old are you? I think is an old way of thinking. My Japanese gf and I have lived in Tokyo for 5 years. She agrees with me that the emporer no longer holds influence or respect in Japan, at least in her generation. That is not to say he is disrespected, but that he does not deserve respect simply because of his DNA. I tend to agree, and hold this view for royal families of all nations who continue to waste their country's resources on themselves.
@yuppyguitar1 Remember that the senior generation in japan is massive, so he still holds great respect. I am a 15 year old japanese american who respects the emperor because of the greatness of his ancestors, and he is a living piece of japanese culture. I believe that as long as the emperor remains, japanese culture will never truly be blighted. And my view is shared by many, as I know many japanese teens who still wish long life for his majesty the emperor.
can u imagine if you were stuck in traffic with a sick child or pregnant wife because the road was closed off for this overkill spectacle, you would be pretty pissed off.
@kawasakinuts lol I was stuck in another place in traffic because them, not exactly fun when you're in it.
I don't understand they don't use helicopters for some travels by them on this island instead of closing everything down. Same when Pres. Obama comes here, the road gets closed down. I understand why they do it but a helicopter would be better, faster & maybe even cheaper to travel (just look at the security). Just imagine later this year with APEC in HI with all those world leaders.. :S
they don't use helicopters because it not just one person by their entire staff.
