Anime is short for animeshon - animation. It's a cartoon. CAR-TOON. And there's nothing wrong with watching cartoons even if you're not a child. I own season one of Powerpuff Girls on DVD and have mini collection of them. I don't care. I like the show, who cares how old I am?

Anime does tend to relate to a certain art style used though... Hence the term anime-esque, for the ones that don't come from Asia. Seems like a dumb thing to nit-pick really. A good show is a good show.
