Congratulations to the brave Bougainville people from Romania ! Please do not fall back under the domination of money masters that destroyed your island to begin with. If you need money (the capitalists power) , then issue your own money democratically through LETS systems , Local Exchange Trade Systems - google it - and you have all the money you need in this world. If i could afford such a trip , i would come to your island right now to help.
lived there also wonderful people..never new that you guys still at war. Thats amazing or have I got it wrong??? bit confussing. I think I need to do more research on this...a friend sent me small article on Bougainville..Coconut Revolution 2001.. and their land rights.
Your Right in regard to 'The Modern World' But for Resources it's the old story... Fool me once shame on you... fool me twice shame on me.. India and China are going around the would buying up these resources for a pastime.... I hope im wrong but very little seems to trickle down to Nation states who sit at those Tables...the likes of 'Zambian Copper' being case in point, Like playing Blackjack 'The House Wins' Those at the top will get kickbacks and those at the bottom are no better off..
Ordinary people WILL prevail over these corporate giants... Australia slips a little more in my mind, from advertising itself in the world as a nation of equality... sick!
Thank you for posting this. I lived in Arawa for two years as a child. My father built a lot of the infrastructure there, including Arawa Hospital that was wrecked in the war. I had no idea it was still war there.
John Momis is their president, who is PNG's former ambassador to China, with talk of the mine being reopened. His stated priorities are disarming the people and integrating with PNG.
The people seem happy to not be at war with their PNG brothers but it would appear the memory of what they lost has been replaced with hope for a new start in the big brave ugly world, which is all to happy to exploit them for another round if they'll let it.
@malachy1847 Now that they've only got a big hole in the ground, a poison river and have trouble with food due to lack of traditional hunting grounds, it kinda makes sense to invite the Chinese in..... Long as they get services in exchange.... but really the "modern world" people crave is not all it's cracked up to be.
Seems like the usual.... people being sucked in by the promises of politicians.
Well that was pretty amazing.
