Kyle - I wrote to you via your web site about a week ago, but have not heard back. I have volunteered to shoot a video documentary of an ALS fund raising walk. As I didn't know very much about ALS, I searched online and came across your song. It is one of the most moving songs I have ever heard. I would like to include your song along with some of the photos you used to conclude this video I'm making. May I? I will credit you in the video however you would like. John (male92701)
R.I.P. Columbia Lou (Roar Lion, Roar!), The Bambino, Bill Dickey, Joltin' Joe, Mickey Mantle, The Scooter, and Billy Martin. Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra live on as American national treasures. God Bless The Pride of the Yankees.
Lou Gehrig was and amazing ballplayer!! But the way he handled hes ilness made him and even better person. Lou Gehrig was and will always be a hero!!!
Kyle, one of my best friends was diagnosed with ALS five years ago. He continues to fight it with everything inside of him. All he can do for himself is see, hear, and mouth words. But he is one determined man, and, I pray, that you will be just as determined as he is. I am a healthcare worker and I am so honored to be able to help care for him. I cannot tell you what this beautiful song means to me. I write poetry and wrote one about Lou Gehrig. I would love to share it with you! GBU & TY!
@shootinshotguns My deepest sympathy to you and your family, my friend. I have learned that there are worse things than death. Be assured of my prayers for all of you. God bless and be with all of you!
I hate this disease. Killed my Mom 12 years ago. Takes it all from you and yet your still aware. I admire all those who face it without eating their pistol. My Mom was so courageous. Never a down time, never a bad word...God Bless all of us here who suffer and those who suffer from this bastard of a disease. I'd wipe out the planet to rid this disease. I'd jump in a fucking lake of fire. If I thought for one minute that we could save someone. It still hurts like a mother fucker.
@davehutchinson67 I don't know you. Will probably never meet you. Just know that today some random person on the internet wishes they could give you a hug.
What a beautiful tribute. And what a touching song. Kyle, I read from the message below that you yourself have ALS. Bless you. Now that I "know" your name . . . and have heard your voice . . . I will remember you. And I will pray for you.
Thank you for this wonderful song Kyle. It is truly beautiful and brought tears to my eyes as I thought about my father who died 6 years ago due to ALS. Thank you again.

@avigailsmommy ... And thank you for taking the time to respond:)
I was diagnosed with ALS 9 years ago. I wrote and recorded the song with tears in my eyes...so it's good to know that the intended effect gets conveyed every once in a while.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your father however:(
This is such a touching song and video. My step-daughter has ALS and she like Lou Gehrig was a picture of health. She ran marathons, climbed 14,000 ft. mountains and snow skiied and in 2 years her life is in a wheelchair. I am sorry to hear that you are suffering from this same horrid disease. My prayers are with you. Thank you for sharing your gift!
is this an actual song? im doing a project on lou gehrig and als and would love to use this for some background music. if u could tell me what the title of it is, i would greatly appreciate it.
shasaw113, I am not sure who wrote this. If you or anyone else are looking for a good source of baseball songs, check out the "Diamond Cuts" collections. Eleven so far, and the proceeds go to buy musical instruments for schoolkids who can't afford them.
Another great baseball song writer is Chuck Brodsky. He's got a whole collection on "Baseball Ballads."
This is an amazing song and video. It really makes us appreciate all that we have. Thank you sir for a great video and a great song and reminding us what a true athlete is in this day an age.
An exellent tribute to a great Yankee. Captures the essence of Gehrig. A great player. A better man. I would call Yankees for you to get this played at some point in the Stadium. It is that good.
very good made me sad im 14 and i saw this on th all star game i had to see the speech and this popped up and it made me sad the fans didnt know he was going to die during the speech but he did god bless him he will be missed RIP friend
The greatest ever. Fair, decent, intelligent and a devoted husband not to mention one hell of a ball player. He will always and forever be my favorite ballplayer. R.I.P iron horse #4.
After watching this, I wanted to make a nice comment. It's too bad, a great song, a great video, and a great sentiment is laid to waste with some idiot bringing his political bashing here.
Bunna, do you think YouTube is just for liberals? It is unfortunate that more people don't see the hypocrisy of 'right verses left' politics and the act of finger pointing. Bunny, look harder and you will see it is better not to be a marionette for any politician or party.
OH MY GOD! that song was absolutely genius and beautiful! Bless you, sir, for honoring such an amazing man in such an inspiring and beautiful manner. Only the good die young... Rest in peace Lou.
he was the luckiest man on earth

Wow 66 likes and 6 dislikes. Does that mean ALS is the devil?

Excellent tribute.
Lou Gehrig was indeed the "Luckiest Man Alive", for he had a talent very few had.
ALS is a horrible disease and we all need to pay more attention to it.
May the disease strike out one day soon.

Yes they were on the greatest team in history, but neither one could measure up to Ty Cobb, the absolute greatest of all time.
