Photography Tutorial - Using 1 large light source

Nice. Afterward, I thought of other shots I'd like Debbie to do but like crouched down on the floor, squating, stuff like that to introduce the different body angles with bent legs, and suggestive posing that could be accomplished (with this model) perhaps with her at the floor level, but not lying down, just stuff like that. We tend to use a single Octabank or ring flash 75% of the time. The reason as John says is speed. True we can be more creative by using more lights/reflectors but most of the time it's speed that counts.

It a sad fact of life that in commercial photography you often have to balance creativity against productivity. KIS - Keep It Simple!

In the studio, my preference is to use a 50mm 1.4 and a 85mm 1.4.

Sorry, but this is just bad lighting. There are a million ways to be more affective with one light source... this ain't one of them.

The images have no pop, everything looks flat.

You're certainly entitled to that opinion, however I would urge you to make a video response to mine, showing a better way to use 1 light source. I am always eager to learn new ways of doing things, and I would be eager to watch someone else's video on this same topic.
