  • does any one know if its alto or tenor?

  • Only critique I would definitely add some vibrato and hold your saxophone centered instead off to the side while standing. I do that and it helps with the breathing and embouchure. What kind of Alto Sax is he using?

  • Is his saxaphone black with gold keys?

  • he just needed to relax he looked stiff, would have had more fun

  • Pretty good for an amateur. Love that song. I'll try playing that some time.

  • pretty good you just need practice and youll get better

  • not that bad, but I've played stand tunes more challenging than that....

  • this dude is beast

  • what an easy crowd!

  • the name of the song is for the joy of the lord

  • dude congratz, i'm playing the same song right now and i can tell this was difficult to memorize. like b3hindblueeys said, you should try to add more emotion. suggest using staccato on some notes. also, your vibrato needs some improving, but still great performance.

  • I like it, but he sounds like he is bored.

  • dont tounge so hard but it sounds clean for the most part check me out and give me some tips on wat to do please

  • @thesaxiest nice name

  • ive been playing since third grade and u did good but that guys rite u shood add some emotion to it good job though

  • Loosen up a bit

  • so easy haha but that's cool

  • (: Good Job.

  • ????????????

  • Easy song, but it takes a lot of talent not to mess up on stage

  • this is my church song

  • the 2 ppl with shades were such nerds

  • COOL!

  • i thought he did a good job :)

  • What's song??

  • hu......

  • nice tone, well done

  • tiene mala postura

  • but seriously, music's an art, and i think people like us who enjoy music, whether it's instrumental or vocal, we should all get more respect than posers like kanye west or 50 cent. plz, i'm a kid and i have more musical ability in my thumb than they do combined. and not just me. all of you who enjoy playing music, spread the joy, and show the world what REAL music is supposed to sound like.

    rap kisses jazz's ASS

  • music is music man. weather it be rap or jazz. its still music. you cant dis something like that.

  • as you may have already noticed, i completely disagree. but i don't need to start an argument so i won't. you know my opinion, i know yours, so that's as far as it needs to go

  • i envy you. to go to a school where people can at least respect that you're trying your hardest.

i'm the top musician at my school and i don't get shit. all they do is try to ridicule us bandos. i'm drum major too. i love it. it's an honor for me. yet even by my band mates, they try to insult me. it's ridiculous. i may not be that good but i'm far more talented then any of those assholes. when i become famous for whatever the hell i decide to do. . . i'm killing them first haha

  • anyone know where you could get sheet music for this preferably free?

  • Great song, Great sax, and best of all, I love the fact that your giving glory to God. God Bless brother.

  • had anybody else ever noticed how adjusting ur neck strap is like a sax twitch. Cause it will be perfect before ur on stage and u sit or stand the EXACT same and u NEED to adjust it.

  • Comment removed

  • that was well played, theres been a few comments that seem to assume that you have been boasting about being gods gift o sax which isnt fair, although their points may be valid they should consider how they put them. well done

  • Nice job!

  • Okay Im going to give you props on the fact you had the guts to get infront of all those people, and that you did this by memory. But you can be alot better. Idk how long you've been playing but im a senior this year, been playing since 6th and started Jazz in 8th..But you need to work on vibrato, and adding some emotion to how you play because Although your playing well, you need to add in those dynamics, blow through the phrases, And add emotion to the music you play. But good job. =]

  • PLEASE READ THIS BEOFRE COMMENTING:

I am the person who is playing in this video, and Need to address some issues here. First off, I don't care about your negative opinions and criticism so don't be a jerk and post it. (constructive criticism I like). I am no expert sax player, and I am not a performer, i know this. I use my gift to worship God, not please man or to glorify myself.

Some hae asked what sax I play, it is just a yamaha yas-23, nothing special. God bless you all, have a good day!

  • hey man i hear ya about using ur gift as a way to Worship God. But man don't you think you should give him everything you can? This is something i struggled with but I mean take what people are saying about your playing and use it good and bad it cant hurt. And in the end you will still be worshipping the All Mighty God

  • Hi Aaron. I'm a professional musician, and music teacher. Whatever you do, do it to the glory of God. Keep playing, keep growing, keep humble, and keep seeking and asking for His will. Check out one or two of my videos then we'll talk. Feel free to ask me anything. Remember, skill and anointing are both important, but skill doesn't set anybody free - it's the anointing that breaks the yoke. Peace, Tony B.

  • good on you man, you got balls for being able to perform. Most musicians would choke in front of that many people!

  • I know, and I have since this video. Thank you for you "kind" words.

  • I am the one who played this. I don't particulary appreciate your harsh criticism... I do not claim to be some awesome player, but I do not deseve to be torn down. So if you can not say anything good please with all respect shut up.

(also I want to see a video of you playing side by side with Gordon Goodwin, you must be extremely talented to be in middle school and be so good)

  • if your going to play with music in the background make sure you play out

  • si señor si si señor(8)!:D

  • Not the hardest of songs, but he has guts...

  • that was good but id keep practicing so you can play more notes and harder songs

  • Add more Vibrato's

  • I HATE WHEN PEOPLE CLAP LIKE THAT its so annoying cause it way harder to count cause u think its a metronome

  • Hahahaha true, and sometimes people start clapping faster and faster and faster... :P Or just totally off rythm hehehe

  • Dude my school song is one of those claping songs (lucky i can tune out stuff idk kinda wierd) but people r ALWAYS so wrong im just like GOD i should be like people stop claping horribley u fail

  • haha i HATE WHEN THEY DO THAT!!

but yett... so funni :D haha

  • All I can say is "Yes Lord, Yes Lord, Yes Yes Lord!". Keep at it.

  • Amazing song!! That song brings back memories. Keep up the great work!

  • thats shocking playing ......Playing live is the best way to learn though ......paying your dues !!

keep at it and you will get better

  • Amazing job!!! I have to admit it is super HARD to perform in front of a lot of ppl.. but u set that aside and did an AMAZING performance!!! keep up the good work!!!

  • thats true i think its cause he was a bit nervous.... nice sax though

  • love it

  • ur awesome dude

  • nice tone but he needs more grove and feeling

  • hi, some1 knows the name of this song ?

  • Trading my sorrows

  • nice I play the alto and the Steve Goodson's are the best at least they're the coolist forget about my name!

  • Nice playing. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting.

  • its a black nickel finish actualy and i think its amatti

  • nice sax is tht amatti or selmer or what??

  • It looks like it may be a selmer LaVoz or one of the Artist series (which is what my alto is) with the silver finish.

  • i really love the way you play the sax

  • very good; if not.... linear. Its a really awesome job on that great song; but i was hoping for a little more jazziness between the melodies. i guess i'm too spoiled...

    but f'real that's pretty good.

  • here's a medal for being so awesome.

  • thats awsome!

  • And to TenorSax123's comment, why would you "step it up" to a tenor? I started on tenor and now play soprano, alto, and bari sax as well.

  • Some of these "critics" don't know how difficult it is to stand up alone in front of a crowd and play without sheet music. You did a great job, kid! (However, the photographer should be slapped!) I can tell you started on the alto when you were much smaller, because you hold it off to your right side. I think you're ready to step up to a tenor!

  • Keep it up!!!

  • i play saxophone to..haha its cool..

  • i agree :) They sound like high schoolers. I love that they support him. This literally brought a tear to my eye. I play alto saxaphone. I can TOTALLY relate.

  • super interpretation du jeune musicien il est en place niveau tempo et sur la justeté des doigtés .

  • this was an awesome performance.

  • the melody is really very easy.. I think this can played by the most who learn sax for 1-2 years, exactlly like this or better

  • excelente!!!! es un genio este musico!!!! cual es su nombre?

  • Nicely done!

  • he's not too bad, the simple melody makes you underestimate his ability, but some things he does take quite a lot of practise.

  • hes good

    i play too

  • ...I would consider this fair...The playing just dun ring in my ears...And the rhythm of the song is so easy~I can play the exact same thing~

  • nice playing.. And I love the song :D

  • i have been playing the sax for a while now bu when i have to play in front of people i have to have the music in front of me even if i know the piece really well!!! i was wondering if u could give me some advice because if i keep playing like that im never gonna get any where!!!! please help!!!! Dude ur very good

  • All you have to do is eat bannanas and perform in front of an audience more often. The bannanas help you to not get nervous, and eventually, most of the nevousness goes away. Just deal with it for a little while.

  • thnkx hopefully that will help xxx

  • Bananas? Really? lol, why Bananas?

  • stop reading and start listening to what you're playing, FORCE yourself to not use the book AT ALL when you decide you want to practice memorizing. If you can't remember, figure it out by trying different things until you get the right notes. It'll take a lot of time in the beginning, but in the end you'll have no trouble.

  • jus picture urself playing the song and get the tune in ur head. usually helps for alot of things i learnt it in drama. works for me

  • You need to listen to the recorded song many times over and get it "in your head", then memorization comes very easy. Check out my Catching the Sun by Spyro Gyra. All memorized and very easy to play once you have it in your head.

  • Cool! As a saxophone hobbist, I can appreciate your work. Amazing! Thank you for posting this video.

  • man this kid is good!!! i hope to be this good someday...lol :P

  • well done man, you are great.

  • holy crap.... 354 views! git r done!
