It is really amazing what ARCHAEOLOGISTS and SECULAR HISTORIANS are discovering about ancient Israel - the HARD EVIDENCE We now know GOD'S REAL NAME. JEHOVAH is his Western name. His REAL NAME IS EL who was worshipped by the Israelities and their FELLOW CANAANITIES !
The ALMIGHTY GOD EL which is preserved in a nation called IS - RA - EL !!!!
@MATT24ISHERE : The BIBLE is NOT a history book. For another example, we now know thanks to ARCHAEOLOGY that before the BABYLONIAN EXILE, ALMIGHTY JEHOVAH GOD WAS MARRIED - TO ASHERAH, THE FERTILITY GODDESS ! Since 1968 thousands and thousnds of ASHERAH statuettes have been found in the ruins of ancient Israeli homes.
On ancient Israelitie tombstones - ( 800 B.C. - 750 B.C. ) blessings have been asked of JEHOVAH AND HIS ASHERAH !
Reply to longtalltexan63 : To clear up a misunderstanding. It is outrageous that the Bible does not mention the great victory at Qarqar, Syria which King Ahab, at the head of a grand coalition of several nations, won over the invading forces of the Assyrian King Shalmanezer III. King Ahab a great builder, also brought economic prosperity to Israel.

It's wonderful how modern archaeology is discovering the truly great kings of ancient Israel were Omri and Ahab, NOT David and Solomon !!! It is absolutely outrageous that the Bible doesn't even mention Ahab who at the head of a grand coalition stopped a massive invasion force headed by the Assyrian King Shalmanezer III at the battle of Qarqar in Syria in 853 B.C. Ahab also defeated the syrian King Ben-Hadad. Omri and Ahab were the great empire makers and builders, not David or Solomon.
You don't have to use the Bible to find sites. Sometimes it points you in the right direction. This is true in ANY area of the world with ANY kind of textual record - the Bible was written by people who live in this area and so it would be foolish to ignore it. But it is certainly not "accurate," and certainly not a historical record.
