It amazes me, remembering these shows, that they wouldn't have have something like this again, since the viewers would eat it up! I guess since the networks don't "own" the stars anymore, it would cost too much!
Alas, you are stuck with "Battle of the Reality TV Stars" instead. :-/
I can remember watching these in the 1970's, it makes one recall when network TV had real stars, for their shows, and not the socalled reality shows today. What ever happened to women like Lynda Carter on TV? Has anyone else noticed the women just keep on getting more plan looking?
wish I could go back in time...my family would all watch this together, it was a big event in our house. Times are not the same. Kids now have nothing to look forward to, they get instant gratification with DVD's, DVRS, internet etc. These were the best years.
Adrian barbo Linda carter and the Hot chick from Little House on the Prairie ...the Producers new how to produce a show in the seventies.. TnA is where its at... Thats why I like the Spanish news
@Rodney21a I agree 101%, the directors/producers they knew what they were doing when these hot women were matched up with see-through wet suits. Nip-slips everywhere on that show. One of the most exciting reality shows back then. All natural TnA. Linda C. is a beautiful woman.
i use to always root for robert conrads team i liked his egotistical enthusiasm but i loved buck rogers also so i rooted for gil gerards team, those were really good times.
@curlyfry44 curly, Richard hatch got really depressed after battlestar was cancelled, but he kept working in low budget films and doing bit parts on tv. Around the beginning of the 90's he turned his attention to producing and in 97 he came really close to restarting the battlestar galactica franchise as the lead character and director but at the time, producers thought battlestar was too old a concept (they dropped the ball on that one right)
I loved watching this show....never missed an episode. I thought it was a cool idea to have network celebrities compete against each other, one of the first reality shows I guess....it's fun watching these old clips, bring back memories of 1977/78.
Ahh, man, what great memories! I remember sitting in the living room watching this with my family, and when Lynda showed you those massive jugs,I heard my Dad let out a loud sigh! Of course I was nieve to the fact! Thanks For The Mammories!!!!
Some of the most beautiful lady stars of all times. No one on television in the last 30 years rivals Lynda Carter and Farrah Fawcett. The only one who even came remotely close was Pam Anderson, and a lot of that was surgically enhanced (not that I'm complaining).
Pardon my girlish glee, but, thanks for the brief glimpse of Hal Linden in his shorts, yowza! You go, Barn ;-) I was about 12 when these guys were famous and everybody watched these silly battles, they were hot water cooler talk the next day, I tells ya true. How far we've come, eh? Thanks for the blast from the past!
@GeorgeVreelandHill Yes, the shows were, and yes, the stars were as well. I want to go back also, because, just about everything about the present days sucks now !!!!!
@Tamrons tam, it was the late 70's cocaine and disco went hand and hand. Abd celebs got the top quality before it trickled down to the everday masses.
cosell was really good natured and funny here, miss the dude... howard got one up too on giff and dandy don when he had l carter go up & kiss him... cant even imagine the level of partying that nite that went on after this.. in the '70's in hollywood casting directors would hand you cocaine on a platter during readings.
Anyone out there know what group did the music for the beginning of the show where the limos meet up and also where the stars pictures are being shown?Ive been trying to track it down for years.
it's from 1976,The Walter Murphy Band. The track is "Midnight Express" from the "A fifth of Beetohven" album. Very 70's disco. Walter Murphy does the score for the Family Guy these days. Hope that is helpful.
I finally know the name of this song...It's Midnight Express by Walter Murphy *the guy who made a Fifth of Beethoven*...Now I'm trying to find out tat second song...sounds a bit like the Crusaders.
Oops how did I miss your posts, dj99surf...you mean I could have BEEN had this song by now. LOL
Anyways do you know the name of the song that plays VERY briefly after the first time they play Midnight Express, when Lynda is running through the obstacle course and then they show that quick glimpse of Telly Savales before the two cartoon helicopter collide? It sounds like the Crusaders.
Nevermind...I couldn't wait for an aswer and looked through my archives of the Crusaders...yes that song I was referring to is called Spiral from their Those Southern Knights lp. I KNEW I had heard it before.
I'll bet she had a lot to live up to going out there...she did play WW...all the poor little kids who don't know the difference would've been heartbroken if she hadn't. :D No pressure....
Lynda said later on in an interview that he didn't want champagne on him because he was wearing a toupé (wig) and that he was angry with her afterwards. She said "I had no idea, and I felt awful afterwards."
Buncha joikoffs.

Their soldiers came, not on foot nor horseback, but by jet and limousine, as befitted their station.
They came, ?girthing? for battle to hurl themselves against one another in mortal combat.......
and then @ 0:23 they got into a 15 car pile up because nobody paid attention to the 4 way stop signs.
