Is there anybody out there who remembers the episode of "Outer Limits" where some kind of dark, alien blob was clinging to the roof or a barn or a shed, then dropped off onto a man's face, thus "taking him over?" What is the name of that episode. I am fairly certain this was Outer Limits, though it MIGHT have been "One Step Beyond." It was definitely NOT "Twilight Zone" or "Alfred Hitchcock." Please help, it's driving me crazy!
You tube has whole episodes from the outer limits not sure if this one is there or not though. This was one of my favorite series when I was a child. Had original plots not like now days with story ideas constantly reused.
The raygun prop on this OL ep was the larger prototype ray gun pistol vr desighn for the later ABC & NBC TV networks Invaders & Star Trek Sci/Fi shows whom the prop masters decided to use the basic shape of the gun in a more smaller hand pistol size with a few cosmetic differences, made of a composit shell like the glock, notice how the scientist @ the end zaps his driver generator then destroy the weapon as if its a plastic model car & spilling out & destroying the disentagrator circut pieces.
Wowzie doozie. Some of these episodes scared the living daylights out of me when I was a child from the 1970s. Pity they don't make them like they used to do.
No T, when I wrote an Outer Limits in the 90s, all shot in Vancouver ,Canada...the sum I was paid ,well check with the Writer`s Guild and you should be fine...anyone can steal a portion of your ideas...anytime,anywhere...o.k....but you must, must forge ahaed...ignore and do not let paranoia hold your submissions back...one episode made me where I am now...sitting here in my home doing ,well whatever I wish to do...each and every day.
I'm wandering what the scientist (warren stevens) mindset must have been after experiencing that perticular ET group contact & there MIND CONTROL capibilitys, & all the millions invested into that research proj he invisioned, his lady friend going confused of his abrupt change of personality & her brief & chocking contact also, I did not thk of this as a kid in the early 60's watching this, My O My what a contactee must experience in some tho NOT ALL ET contactee cases I suppose, "RIGHT" :-X
This epp to me illustrated what the ambitous mind can achieve with a little help from above, however that contactee scientist who developed that dissintergrator gun weapon would have caused a great danger to a world that's not ready for that kind of portable warfare pwr capability unleshed to a warring world mindset & who came to this shocking conclussion thus distroying his project after the grip of the aliens mind control wore off him, one of the original OL's best epps in my opinion.
0:35 is not enough! I want to see the what happens. lol
This is terrifying. I thought "The Twilight Zone had some scary shit, but "Outer Limits" was something else! I wasn't born when any of these anthology shows was on, but it can scary you then, and it can do it to you today. It's timeless. Sadly, there will never be another like this.
The funny thing about the Outer Limits, was it was well written with a limited budget, and the production team cut even more money from the budget the next season and took all of the incidental and title music from the show to use in other ABC shows like 12 o'clock high, the fugitive and the invaders and let the Outer Limits just die out, because, they figured it wasn't doing well in the ratings.
"Don't kill him, we may need him, just take his mind..." They edited out the next line. "we may need him to vote Republican." Easy to do once your mind has been taken away.
@SOLISDEUS Yes, yes, for we are the ALIENS called THE DEMOS......Who have the mission to visit each planet and take over the minds who run the governments and make them spend spend, and then spend some more until their economys crash while removing FREEDOMS and INDIVIDUAL CHOICE! WE then decide what is best for YOU and we become the ONLY ONES WITH POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They had virtually no budget to speak of and two weeks to write, shoot and edit each episode. Many of their FX became a staple in all the sci-fi shows that followed.
This is exactly the correct procedure when being met by aliens, we should not kill them, just take all their resources. Of course that's exactly what we do every time, we work as if with one mind.
Here is what I found about the music. It's not much but I hope it is helpful:
The Outer Limits had an opening and closing narration to almost every episode — the "Control Voice" (Vic Perrin) -- and distinctive music, originally by Dominic Frontiere, listed as a "Production Executive"; the second season featured a new theme by Harry Lubin.
Its written in the script for the movie the Matrix that once a mind is to old it can not be freed. I guess taking it by force leaves you with no choice. What about the theory of soul transferance of the pagan occult and devil worship from secret Jewish and Freemason texts.
This episode had some interesting effects for its time. They actually used a reversed explosion effect whenever the aliens hit someone with their death rays.
