Hey, I went to the source forge link you gave for the ipl, but it only has 2 .tar files and a .zip file, but the .zip one says it's for mac. Does it mean a mac iPod or that if I download that ipl, I'll only be able to open it on a mac computer?

Any idea where I can download the ipl on an WinXP OS X or if the .tar or .zip for mac files will work on a PC as long as I download a .tar file upacker?

I managed to download rockbox and iPodLinux using this video, but I have no way of switching between the firmware besides rebooting it every time. And even whn I reboot it, I have no way of knowing whether it will boot into the rockbox, podzilla, or apple firmware D:

Ok from what you said, it seems like you are having trouble with the IPL, because that is what lets you decide what to boot. This video is rather old, and I have had to replace some of the download links (including the one to the IPL), which may be a cause. Also, if you know how, try to reinstall the IPL. Im sorry i dont remember much because i have an iPod touch now. Usually i dont say this, but you may want to search for other videos that show how to install ipod loader.

i have a ipod 5th gen video 80 gb but the 5gipl

it is a 5th gen, but yours is a 5th gen1st revision, thats why. 5th gens come in 30gb and 60gb versions, and the revised ones come in the 80gb version. apple mostlikely fixed this hack in the revision, and that is why its not being recognized

Please Note to all I have done these steps as well but in order to run the loader you must start or restart your ipod (hold+select+menu) butto start linux start or restart your ipod and press the rewind button sevral times
