Anyone know how I can achieve the look of Kai's pictures in terms of color in either Photoshop or Lightroom? I can't quite get it. It looks like it's an up in contrast and maybe a "pink" layer on top?

I never realy care about Bokeh when i shoot. But I love layering high detail focus on distant out of focus. On Panasonic-Leica glass it just produces some silky smooth but definable objects Bokeh.

I don't think trying to teach about bokeh with a noctilux is valid in any way. Who're you trying to reach? What is your audience, people that get a leica usually knows a lot about photos. If you're teaching newbies get a newbie camera either! What will you tell people with a D3100/18-55 kit lens that tell you their pics doesn't appear like the ones you took @0.95??

@BlouseFashion If you mean a digital slr then any decent Nikon or Canon will do. You just need a good lens - that is the costly bit. You need at the most f1.8 which means money!

@BlouseFashion That may work - the problem would be the lens. It goes down to f2 which is good (I use an f2.8 which works ok) but it is a 35mm equivalent which may not give you the same feel as the 50mm he used here.Nice camera tho. You could try a smaller Nikon with a good quality lens for the same price but as you say it would be bigger

Thats common in asia, makes the skin whiter and smoother very often. I think he also use custom picture styles, looks like it in the pictures from what i can see. Im not a pro but i can take similar pictures and i use custom picturesyle and often +1 or more exposure. So i guess he does the same:P maybe i dont know what the m2 can do but atleast with canon its like this:P

I am not consumed by Bokeh, but I have chosen new lenses trying to get a wider aperture to make it nicer (along with the lens itself). While shooting a few portraits with a friend, a tree was in the background with a lot of sunlight coming through the leaves. That left each light spot a separate bokeh ball on top of each other. That is what made some unappealing bokeh to me.

In my opinion, he doesn't teach how to do "Bokeh" at all besides showing around that extremely expensive lens with his boring pictures. Don't forget not everyone or I could say nearly everyone are not going to be able to afford that lens."Choosing a good background"..that's probably it, but that's a common sense anyone should already know to take good pictures. By teaching how to do, he should've pointed out the distance of a photographer and a subject, the use of variety of lens and apertures.

Hm.. Noctilux, actually it doesnt have exactly best bokeh, maybe highest amount of it. Few Summiluxes have better. Might be better to use it on NEX-5N in absence of M9. Much easier to use and perfect focus (actually better than rangefinder coupling, which needs to be tuned if you want to use Noctilux on your M camera).
