  • Thank u for this vid. I'm considering goin natural (6mths post) with alopecia & dermatitis & I have been sceptical about going natural. This is encouraging

  • @livelifesmiles Yes... My hair loss was due to stress ... so it did eventually come back... but I do think that there has been some irreversable damage that has been done... which started for me more than 10 years ago... but yes I still take vitamins...for my hair ... however it is not everyday... just when I feel my hair needs it.... ie if I notice that it is a little thiner than normal in the front....

  • It looks great. Consider doing a vegan diet for a week or so. I think it elevates the immune system. I have or had scarring alopecia and have kept the breakouts down somewhat. Stay beautiful.

  • i hear what your saying but what about those who have very fine hair my hair is not so thick and so i would be very scepticle about showing others my natural hair. by the way your hair looks so lovely and thick and i hope to get my hair to that state.

  • I have AA and am in treatment. Thankfully, my scalp is responding to the medicine and there is tremendous growth. The sides are a little thin, but it is growing slowly.

  • u look a bit ethiopian,lol!

  • ty 4 this video. I wanted 2 let u know that ur hair is BEEEUUUtiful!

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • Thank you soo much for this video. I my hairline has been thin after I had worn cornrows about 10 year ago. I've been natural for 7 years. But I'm determined to bring my hairline back. Thank you. I also love the song selection...Osunlade is one of the greatest house producers. :-)

    Many blessings,

    jins

  • Thank you so much for your utube. You have made me feel better about having traction alopecia. May God Bless you and yours forever.

  • Yur hair is gorgeous!

  • i have traction alopecia from a bad weave experience. i'm still pretty devastated. My traction alopecia happened in the same exact spot as yours. i've had heat damage in that spot twice within the last year so i was really fustrated. i've been natural for 2 1/2 years now and i reallllly want my hair back :(

  • Thanks so much for sharing! I'm going to give those vitamins a try...nothing else has really helped. Be Blessed.

  • Thanks alot for commenting and Good Luck ;)

  • i love ur channel totally HOT ... =] stay bless & keep up the great work, i added u so if u would like me 2 sub just let me know sub back if u like, be bless doll

  • Thank You for the information. My hair recently started following out, and I didnt know what to do with it. I thought about cutting it all off and start over, but I been natural for a year and I love the progress of my hair. Thanks for the video.

  • I had the same thought about cutting it ... but I am soooo glad I didn't ... had I cut my hair ... spots would have shown... in an short state ... or at least I was scared they would have but with some length it help to hide my spotting ... although now I can see a mini afro growing in among the longer hairs... lol hahaha Good luck with ur hair luv... Peace and Blessings...

  • beautiful!

  • Thank U! ;)

  • What is your hair type??

  • im not sure... I have been told 4A with some 3/c bits in it...

  • I have been natural for about 2 years and I hope that all the damage that has been done is over, but I am still very concerned about it. Right now I was going to start using sulfur on my scalp and some essential oils and hope that will address the inflammatory issues the dermatologist think I have. Anyway, you hair looks great. If you have any idea about what may help my hair to thicken up, please let me know....

  • Hey Rainy... know how u must feel... I felt the same way ..I just wanted to kick myself too.. I just thank God that it really doesn't show up on me with natural hair... but i think that the less manipulation the better... try not to clog ur pores up with stuff...keep ur scalp clean and free of debris...if you work out don't leave excess sweat in ur hair..and eat right... and start taking hair vitamins.. and don't forget prayer...and patience...I will send up a prayer too... ;) keep me informed

  • @lovennappiness OK...I will definately keep you posted !! and thanks for praying for me girl..Cause I am holding on !!!

  • Hey lovennappiness, I just went to a dermatologist last wednesday and he thinks I have chemical damage to my scalp/thus making my hair thinner than it was. He gave me some topical corticosteroid cream to use, but once I got it, I see that it may contain sodium hydroxide in it. So I have decided not to use it. I feel like kicking myself because for all these years I have been so ashamed of the natural texture of my hair, it has caused me possible permanent hair loss.

  • your hair is nice:)

  • thank u Kharyzma4u... ;)

  • when my hair was permed and I lost weight, my hair started falling out. I realize that it was from eating less fat and I had to add protein and some healthy fats to my diet. The weight is still off, but my hair is back natural and fuller.

  • im glad u figured that out... it is so frustrating when ur hair is falling out and u have know idea why,.... c

  • HELP!!

my hair is very similar to yours but yours is beautiful! I was wondering

-do you brush your hair, and if so, how many times a week? ( i find that when i brush it it falls out)

-how many times do you shampoo?

    thank you!!! :)

  • Thanks for this video...I can relate w/hair loss @ the top of my head. Scalp folliculitis treatments from AA male CLT dermatologist - Dr. Slaughter. Treating since Mar. 2007.

Extreme case-was getting perms every 4wks. Thank God for thick hair...Reason I had to go natural

Journey of getting the shots, taking antibiotics, & shampoo prescription while going natural. It was worth it....Transition - w/braids & sew-ins...recently this year, rocking the naural via twistouts. Adjustment

  • Congrats on finally goin' natural... I don't know about u but I have truely grown to love it just the way it is... it is such ashamed that we constantly fought our hair to do things it just wasn't designed to do thus gaining us the hair loss issues...

  • you'll be fine female hair loss over trauma usually makes a quick recovery compared to men, but if you experience any more diffuse thinning it's of a hormonal nature you'll need to learn how to correct the DHT and TGF aspects of hormone balancing, cheers =]

  • thanks so much for the heads up.... I will look into that... but yeah my hair is making a great comeback... thanks again.....;)

  • yeah check it out, you sexy thang ; ) haha

  • Sorry about the accident, hope the recovery continues.

  • Thank U ... ;)

  • but you naturally have thick hair, not everyone does, and your spots are not huge and all over. and yes it is good to wash your hair more often

  • you have a point... everyone has very distictive stories and situations... didn't mean to imply the contrary...

  • Thanks so much for sharing...I have been natural since April of 08 and at first I was concerned about people being able to see the spot in the top of my head. I use to check it every morning to make sure it was covered. Now, my hair is doing it for me and I love that . I tell the Lord, thank you, because even though I have a thin spot in the top of my head, he has given me enough hair to cover it! : )

  • that's right girl.... turn around and give God Thanks ... I do too... I love this hair too... I can't believed that I didn't wear it natural for most of my early life

  • If you've been abusing your hair (like I have) for four years by pulling and tugging on it and aquired traction alopecia, will it ever grow back? Even after four years or is it gone forever? If it does grow back, how long will it take?

  • Dear heart I have no idea... it may take some time... for some it comes back and for some it doesn't ... some of my hair has yet to return.... ;( but I will not abuse it any more...

  • what gloss r u using?

  • im not sure what that gloss was ... somethin' creamy ... with a light brown liner...

  • I love how big and fluffy your hair is. I have been experiencing shedding and i am hoping it is from me using a denman brush because i never used one before, plus i changed some products so i am switching back to see what happens

  • thanks alot... I have found that the denman doesn't work so well for my hair.... It pulls out way tooo much hair for me... b careful with it... try a wide tooth comb if the hair loss doesn't lessen...

  • I have hair loss on my hair sides and I'am finding it hard to be completely natural. When I had a relaxer it was easier for me to cover my sides by my hair being down and covering my sides. Now that I have been completely natural I have had to wear scarves to cover up my sides and that was stunting my hair growth on my sides. Do you know what I can do to get my hair to grow back becuase at times I feel so down about my hair. Rio is what took out my hair and it has not been the same ever since.

  • Thank you for making this video. I have alopecia and it's in the same place on my head as yours. My hair is 4a 4b too. Thanks for sharing your story. It helps and inspires me to remain natural.

  • i had a curl put in my hair after i had extentions taken out. The stylist failied to tell me to get my hair conditoned first then put in the curl....well....within one month, i had two bald spots in the top of my head....my hair just FELL out..thank God it was in the winter so i cut it off and wore a cap. that was 2007..now i'm completely natural and using kinky curly products, and water..my hair has been cut, but its growing like weed and none is coming out Praise Jesus.

  • My God, your hairrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....i am sooooo jealous. I think my hair is not growing as fast it should. I swear i feel it has probably only gained 2 inches since feb and i am bit concerned. Is this normal?

  • Heyyyy Arrebiy... Girl I am soooo sorry to respond to you soooo late... I just noticed that I had not responded to you.... but I felt the same way for a long time... I didn't think my hair was growing either... but it is be patient... it will happen before u know it... just hold tight but don't rush it cuz ur hair is gorgeous ... ur twa is beautiful... ;)

  • my sons hair is your texture. he has no perms (always was against it ) but his hair is coming out too HELP MOTHER IN DiSTREES. yes the same way. what did you do to help it.

  • Did I respond to ya... I just took vitamins... and ate well... and drank water ... nothin' special...,

  • That is very true. Happy that you are ok after the accident. Love your hair!

  • hey, this is just an open question for anyone who knows.

i am 14 years old (african american) and i have a minor case of traction alopecia. does anyone know if i am still young enough to reverse it?

  • I have hair loss caused my a hair weave years ago...and thin edges no the hair will never grown back and its something I have to live with my being natural has helped to cover areas...

  • don't give up on ur hair recovery... especially if you are no longer relaxing or using weaves... I have seen a lot of natural girls on utube that didn't have edges recover with new hair growth... ;) Thanks for watchin' my vid...

  • I am so glad that I came across your video. I am also glad that your hair has rebounded from the stress/trauma.

I am transitioning now (almost 9 months). I was definitely concerned with having thin areas once I am natural. Most of my hair loss came from relaxer damage and that the crown of my head grows hair slower than the rest of the head. I now use Nioxin products and I am seeing growth.

  • Hey 2cute ;) ... that is exactly why I put this vid up ....I wanted to take the fear out of the picture if any body's hair was similar to mine (with some spotting) ... natural black hair is really wonderful in that it covers a multitude of sins.... ;) Good luck on the transition.... I am sure ur hair will look great..

  • Good on you. Your hair looks lovely. By the way, you are right. The thickness of napptural hair will hide hair loss from prior self inflicted harm (chemicals), alopecia etc. Interesting point about sweating and hair loss.

  • Thanks alot,.. yeah I don't think I will ever go back to chemicals .... the natural hair is so much more appealing to me ... too bad it took me so long to find that out....

  • Very Informative and positive vid. Thank you :-)

  • Thanks Sistah... Thanks for watchin' ;)

  • Well, I'm glad to see that you recovered from your accident. Good luck.

  • Thank U... ;)

  • Wow. Praise God that you are ok. The hair looks great.

  • God is good girl... Thanks a lot... =)

  • you are still fabulous girl! still rocking the big beautiful head of hair.

  • Thanks brnize

  • Your hair looks healthy and thick! I have been natural for 2 months following a bad relaxer that took out most all of my short relaxed hair. I am HOOKED on my natural growth. I LOVE the way it feels and the softness like lambs wool. My hair is growing like crazy. ..at a rate, so far, 1 inch a month!!!!!! Your videos have really been an inspiration for me to keep going! Natural hair ROCKS!!!

  • Hey Gloria... I am so glad that u didn't suffer permanent hair loss from that relaxer... but girl sometimes it takes us awhile to realize that we don't need to conform to a standard of beauty that was never meant for us in the first place... we have our own ... and i am so glad that we have found it... Thanks for watchin my vids and I am so glad that they have inspired u cuz that was exactly my cause... I just wanted us to know that we are enough just the way we are... Be Blessed w GRWOTH =)

  • I hate that you were in such a bad accident....Your hair looks really good! Cutie Pie...

  • thanks kitabare76 ... U are really sweeet... =)

  • i'm glad to hear ur okay. God bless. ur hair still looks wonderful.

  • Thanks Jazz

  • Im so happy that you are ok and totally recovered. I had thinning when I went thru a separation about 5yrs ago, my body seems to have a delayed reaction to trauma, I had another trauma with my son in Oct and Im just hoping that my hair doesnt fall again. Thanks for posting, good info. Your hair looks fabulous!

  • Hi Curlmebella.... thanks for commenting... I am so sorry to hear about ur stress/trauma situations... I wish and pray u the best because it (hair fallout) does seems to come about at odd times (times when u seem to be over the hump) Thanks again for commenting and complimenting me on the hair ... Ur hair is always beautiful btw... Be Blessed =)

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, but so glad that you're ok. I understand about stress and trauma making your hair fall out, mine did that when I was permed and was starting again before I went on medical leave from work recently.

So glad you're better and your hair looks maw-ve-lous!

  • Thanks for checkin' in and commenting Sultry... That stress fallout was a surprise to me cuz it happened after I was back up on my feet... and seemingly doing well... but it's all good.... I Pray u are well being that u just recently had a medical leave urself....

btw also thanks for the Maw-ve-lous comment.... U know we love to hear that as ladies... Be Blessed =)

  • Sorry to hear about your accident, I hope all is well! I agree, I had some issues with thining as well from to tight braids and overprocessing, and with my natural hair you cannot see it, I want preserve my hair as much as possible so I won't have to rely on wigs and weaves. Your hair is beautiful!!

  • Thank U!!!! =) All is well....

  • very informative vid!

  • Hi Shesingslovely... thanks for watching... ;)

  • Thank u 4 the information ESPECIALLY re rinsing our hair after working out b/c I workout also a good bit and am having a real challenge b/c I am tryna loc my hair now and am advised not 2 wash my hair so I dont know what 2 do now cuz the locs keep unraveling if I get excessive amounts of water in it!!?? I dunno what 2 do cuz I really want to loc?? Confused and Frustrated. Your hair growth is AMAZING..

  • I'm glad you were okay after the accident :) You are queen of the twist-out! You make them look so cute and I love the way it looks in the front :)

  • You are absolutely correct. Trauma to the body can cause temporary hair loss. Also another cause of Alopecia is poor protein intake and keratin is a major protein that you need for hair skin and nails. I went through a similar experience where all of my hair started falling out. Thank you for sharing and giving strength to sisters with alopecia :o)

  • This fall out snuck up on me ... but I am glad to find out what the cause was... btw ... how long did it take for you to notice regrowth of ur hair after ur fall out... ??? Be Blessed girlie...

  • As I was very sick, I had three tumors removed, 2 from my left breast and my right ovary. My hair fell out the whole two weeks I was in the hospital. Hair started growing again about a month after we shaved my head. I have one place in the back of my head near the nape where my hair texture has changed when it came back in. Really soft and smooth like 3a hair. I had great growth after I started using natural products.

  • So sorry to hear you were in an accident, but I thank God that you are well. I thank you for this video. I have had hair loss due to stress, etc. and thought It was my products. I made changes that lowered my stress and noticed my hair is getting fuller again. YT keeps me strong because others around me of course say I just need a perm and it will grow faster, etc, but my hair was worse when it was relaxed. Thanks for keeping me strong in keeping natural hair. Your hair looks great. :)

  • thanks NappyMacDiva.... Girl it is amazing to me just how much stress really does effect us.... I am glad u are finding ways to destress....and I am glad that ur hair is coming along well too.... I will send up a prayer for continued strong growth just for you as I send one up for me... Be Blessed Girlie...

  • thx 4 being honest!!!

  • thanks for commenting Luv.... it feels really good to be honest about it... for the longest I didn't want to discuss it ... but I am long over that ... I know that God will handle it... =)

  • wow! thanks for showing us what's been going on with you. I would have never have known. you have a very pretty hair texture anyway. My grandmother and cousin suffers from alophecia, in the extreme case because they are completely bald (RIP grandma). It could explain why mu edges have always been so thin, and appears to be bald! idk? but glad to see u're handling it really well!

  • Hey Luvie... thanks for commenting ... Yeah it's amazing to me that I am not rattled by this at all... I was in 96 though ... I was seriously depressed and really didn't want to leave the house... I thought I was ugly and that no one would want to talk to me ... and I also thought that everyone could see my hair issues...I had it really bad then... but Girl ... I guess my faith has grown as I have matured in God .... I know that he will handle it if he wants to and if he don't then it's not best

  • i am so glad you are fine, your hair looks great!!

  • Thanks lilalnatural1... =)

  • By the way, your hair looks gorgeous!!!!!

Will have to try that style...How did you do it???

  • Thanks Mignon'... I actually stumbled upon the secret that makes this style look sooo cute... I actually started out the last week wearing that same corn row puff... when I knew I would be taking it out ...the night before I braided the hair all the way down... I took it out the next morning to find that it had little definition in the ends... I was not satisfied with how it looked so I was just gonna throw it up in a puff again..I then got the bright idea to mist (moisten) the loosley (cont.)

  • It will grow back. Don't worry about that. People....take care of yourself and your hair!

LNN....keep up the faith, and stop doing so much!!!! LOL!

    Love ya...

    ~Mignondee~

  • lifted puff... I then got one of my old products ... oldie but goodie... smooth and shine curl activator gel and kinda scrunched it though that puff.... and I shook it some ... I noticed that i had pretty nice curl formation where there had not been any before from the braid out... I took the puff out of the band and shook my hair while the curls continued to form... I put on a head band and got all kinds of compliments that day... WOW... I may do a tutorial on that one it was a great find...

  • Wow, honey God is soooooooooooo good! I never knew that it was that bad! ( your car acceident). Satan was really trying to take you out! I am so glad that you are protected by our Heavenly Father. Praise God for he is worthy.

I just want to comment on this video, that I too have lost some hair in this natural process. It was of course in the middle front of my head, and noone would know if I didn't say something. Thank God it is coming back. I just kept it clean and moisturized and it grows!

  • Heyyyyy Mignon' ... Yeah he was tryin' to take a sister out for real... but the devil is a liar.... I ain't goin nowhere just yet.... lol ....

  • Hi Beautiful love your video. I give God all the Glory for you being here. I love your testimony. Your hair is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! May God bless you and keep you and give you peace. We're all going through test.

  • Thanks so much Naturally4us.... U are soooo sweet ... thanks for your constant prayers for me .... I will take every one of them being sent up on my behalf because I know it is from the Lord that my blessings coming ..., God is real and he is working out this thing and I am at total ease ... i am just waiting on him... I will put up a vid in about 9 months or so... probably sooner knowing God ...lol .looking at my hair growth and progress... thanks again for checkin in... U are truly a blessing

  • You are correct with the info in this video. When I had a perm my hair started to shed for what I thought was no reason. However, my stylist told me some possible reasons. Stress and the salt build up from me working out four days a week were the REAL reasons. I was working out already but the increase in days and the stress together was too much! Thanks for being real with your situation :)

  • Thanks Lifechanger71 for commenting... I have long since stopped hiding my hair loss from the world but instead I expose it readily becuase I feel like it may help someone who is pondering over the decision to go natural or continue relaxing ... I wish someone had told me this long before I suffered from chemical damage.... Thanks sooo much for the words of encouragment and commenting in general... Be Blessed =)

  • After watching this video, I immediately got up to take my supplement and drank a large glass of water. I too have issues with alopecia. See my last video. At the end, I intentionally parted my hair to expose the missing hair. I'm trying to monitor it in hopes that it will grow back. Alopecia is the reason I decided to become natural. Keep your head up! You are beautiful inside and out!

  • Thanks so much NaturalDiva10 ... I really appreciate U.... Be Blessed

  • Thank you so much for being truthful and candid about your hair...it's such a blessing to the women out here who really want to hear real issues that we ALL have with our hair whether due to stress, diet, heredity or plain lack of common sense!...Your hair looks gorgeous!! Be Blessed and so glad that Gods favor brought you through such an accident...

  • Girl Yes... God is really Good.... I came through that accident without a scratch other than my head injury ... it could have been sooo much worse so I definitely give him all the Praise... I used to be reluctant about sharing things like this but I now know that my misfortune can potentially help someone else going through similiar situations... I just look forward to putting up a progress vid in about 9 months or so ... just to show off the works God to the world... Be Blessed Girlie =)

  • I think you are wonderful person just to share this with us. I have a small patch of hair in the top of my hair that is really thin. It's a "soft spot" on my scalp. I couldn't get the cute short hairstyles like the Halle Berry look back in the day because of that spot. Since, I've been natural, it has grown to be very thick and I take vitamins.I didn't want people to even sit behind me. Now, I'm blessed and happy!!! (I also massage that area). I prayed about it and my hair is at its Glory!!!

  • I know how u feel about folk potentially seeing ur spot... I was the same way ... I was terribly embarrassed as though it were something to be ashamed of.... Thank God he has gotten me over that ... I am extremely relaxed right now... I know that God will take care of the situation... I know that he is using this situation for some reason ... either for my own good or for the good of someone else who learns of my situation...Thanks again for commenting I will try the massage ..Many Blessings...

  • sorry to hear that you were in a care accident. glad to see you are well. I pray for your fast recovery. none the less your hair is beautiful.

I have tried the Ultra Hair Vitamin and didn't really notice a big difference. I have never heard of the other vitamin. I am going to look it that...thanks for posting.

  • thanks pretty... good luck with ur hair ... i hope the cysteine works out for ya... Be Blessed ...

  • I hope you are recovering from your accident and your hair looks FANTASTIC!

  • Thank You .... I am recovering nicely.... I still have a little dizziness... but for the most part all is well.... and thanks for the hair compliment... I am anxious to put up a progress vid in about 9 months or so.... to show just how good GOD is... =)

  • I look forward to seeing your progress video. Girl, you are still my "rock star." It was your videos/advice that helped me improve my hair maintanence routine. I think your hair (and you) are beautiful.

Take care of yourself and again, thank you for this video.

  • Ahhhh! Thank you for this! THANK YOU. (I am sorry; I didn't get your message.) It is so encouraging to see how other women are handling their hair issues, esp with thin hair. I am trying to wash my hair more and playing around with different styles. I just have thin hair (genetics), but I do think my hair is recovering from excessive shedding I experienced two years ago after my grandparents passed. Stress does affect you even when you aren't aware of the depth of it.

  • Love your hair!

  • Thanks U =)
